Buckle up for one of the wildest rides of the year—Mike talks with Alex Phillips, the audacious filmmaker behind Anything That Moves, a gleefully transgressive, genre-bending erotic thriller that skids into the underbelly of Chicago's gig-economy sex trade and emerges with something unexpectedly sincere. Phillips bridges the sleaze of 1970s exploitation with the high-concept perversity of modern indie cinema: a bike-courier/sex-worker named Liam (Hal Baum) pedals through the city delivering more than sandwiches—and soon finds himself tangled in a serial-killer conspiracy that feels equal parts giallo and queer pop nightmare.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-projection-booth-podcast--5513239/support.Become a supporter of The Projection Booth at http://www.patreon.com/projectionbooth

Author and game designer Tone Milazzo joins me in Derry & Toms as we look at another work by the late, great Robert Sheckley, his first novel Immortality Inc. Last time we talked about Sheckley with Derek, I had the distinct sense that we would be going back for more… and this turned out to be an apt choice, with this podcast being released during October, because it's a Halloween episode by stealth! Tone's website is tonemilazzo.com and you can find out more there about his novels, Picking Up the Ghost and The Faith Machine, and his RPG The King in Giallo.
We made it to 150 episodes! To celebrate we are reviewing one of the best hidden gem Giallo's out there. We are joined by author and horror avenger Ron Martin. ENJOY!

¡no seas bicho! ¡Feliz Halloween, remaker! --------------------------------------------------------------- RECUERDA QUE PUEDES APOYARNOS A TRAVÉS DEL SISTEMA DE SUSCRIPCIÓN DE FANS ➡️https://www.ivoox.com/support/248910 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Escúchanos también en www.remakealos80.com Recuerda suscribirte a nuestro canal de YouTube para estar al día de nuestros directos https://www.youtube.com/@remakealos80 Síguenos en Instagram y Twitter @Remakealos80 y búscanos en Telegram, te dejamos el enlace a nuestro grupo de para que compartas tus opiniones e interactúes con nosotros: https://t.me/joinchat/GXsRJYMd3wQVBG2v
Your Stupid Minds starts its spooktacular October with a Spanish/Italian collab that numerous Letterboxd reviews describe as "giallo meets Scooby Doo," presumably because there's one mask reveal and some Italians are involved. It's 1972's The Murder Mansion! After an "exciting" car/motorcycle chase, speed demon Fred (Andrés Resino) steals comely hitchhiker Laura (Lisa Leonardo) from sweaty creep Mr. Porter (Franco Fantasia). Meanwhile, neurotic divorcee Elsa (Analía Gadé) races off into the foggy night with some other people. They all find themselves lost in the fog (even after Fred asks directions from the Grim Reaper) and end up at the titular murder mansion, an old house in the foothills of Spain with its very own cemetery! It's overseen by the young Martha Clinton, a descendant of the house's original satanic inhabitants. Soon, strange things begin to occur, not entirely spurred by Fred's morbid fascination with going to the basement. A lumbering chauffeur (not unlike Maniac Cop or Tor Johnson) and an old woman (not unlike Vampiria or an elderly version of Martha) keep menacing the house guests. Is the house really supernatural, or is there a a more earthly, Giallo-like explanation? How many times will Fred go to the basement? Will a murder ever happen in the murder mansion? You'll just have to listen to find out!

EPISODE NOTE: On the episode when talking about Jada Pinkett Smith's character, Anders gets her character name wrong. It's pronounced Jery-line. Not Jeryl-line as Anders says. Apologies for the mistake.Hello everyone! Anders Holmes is here with another solo episode where he reviews two Ernest Dickerson films - Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight and Bones. As it is spooky season (October aka Scary Movie Month) and Halloween is on the way, Anders Holmes will be talking about some of his favourite horror films in these solo Anders Reviews episodes. Horrors film that are some of his favourites, films that have made a big impression on him and films that people should check out. Whether they be fans of the genre or not.On this episode, Anders talks about Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight, released in 1995. And Bones, released in 2001. Demon Knight was the first of a planned trilogy of Tales From The Crypt movies. Originally meant to be the second, it was filmed to be the first Tales From The Crypt film. It was then followed by Bordello Of Blood in 1996 and then a straight to DVD film Ritual in 2002 (which Anders does not bring up in the episode). Demon Knight features an all star cast of actors and is a full blown demonic monster film with The Collector played by Billy Zane chasing down William Sadler's Brayker to a church converted to a hotel. The occupants and Brayker must work together to survive the night and Brayker must decide who shall carry on his quest in protecting the item he carries. Bones is a Blaxploitation tribute and horror revenge story that evokes the Blaxploitation flicks of the 1970s, Giallo horror and Universal Monster movies. Snoop Dogg plays Jimmy Bones, a numbers runner and gangster who returns from the dead to exact revenge on those that murdered him. Both films weren't entirely successful at the box office or beloved by critics, but they have gone on to become cult classics amongst horror fans. In Anders's words, they are two films that are worth a watch and are entertaining. We hope you enjoy this episode and stay tuned for more solo episodes from Anders during this year's spooky season. Stay tuned for our upcoming Fascism on Film episode on The Marriage of Maria Braun. Also do listen to our Robert Redford Special.Anders's screenwriter work can also be seen at work soon in the horror, car chase thriller Delivery Run, co-written & directed by Joey Palmroos. The film will be released in select cinemas in the US on October 17th and in Finland on November 5th. You can read a review about the film here on the Fangoria website. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Assemble your spear and follow the fly in the box because we're discussing Dario Argento's 1985 giallo fairytale, Phenomena.Starring Jennifer Connelly, Donald Pleasance and Argento's frequent collaborator, Daria Nicolodi, this movie is wild (seriously: take a shot every time we say the word). From questionable disability representation to a Friday the 13th-inspired climax, from chimps to bugs, Phenomena kinda has it all.Plus: Trace tackles the multiple cuts, Joe's fantasy double bill, a "sleepy" Connelly, maggot baptisms, and debate about who committed the murders and why.Questions?
