Hang on to your dance belts...This week, Cody and Matt enlist at a dance academy of the occult (or AH-cult, depending on who you ask.) They discuss the striking style of Dario Argento, the fabulous Jessica Harper, and the malicious magic of Mother Markos. They also conjure up questions about hairy arms that break through windows, 70's hairstyles and their effects on chlorinated water, and what exactly a witch is to do if she loses her invisible boss. You'll be saying Giall-Oh Brother by the time these two learn how to pirouette. Thanks for listening!Instagram/Twitter: @nighthowlspod

We are officially counting down to our 10th anniversary of the show with an episode landing on August 31st 2023. Marking this milestone and at the behest of you dear dear listeners, we are dropping an episode every day with the theme being my Top 10 Favourite Horror movies of All Time (or at least until I change them again on September 1st 2023). At Number 4 it's one of the all times greats by one of the all time greats. Whilst it's not my favourite film in this directors filmography, when it comes to all time favourite horror movies it's hard to argue that SUSPIRIA (1977) is just a completely different level in the genre. Vivid, dreamlike and with a score to die for, Dario Argento moved over from Giallo into the world of fairytale and witchcraft with an ease that showed he really was the maestro of modern horror in the 1970's. SUSPIRIA stands a head a shoulders above most witchcraft movies and looks as good in 2023 as it did back 1977. Join me tomorrow as we take a look at Number 3 on the list. Marking this milestone and at the behest of you dear dear listeners, we are dropping an episode every day with the theme being my Top 10 Favourite Horror movies of All Time (or at least until I change them again on September 1st 2023). At Number 7 it's time to talk Argento!! It's not his best film, in my humble opinion, but it is my favourite Argento movie. Tenebrae (1982) was Argento's return to Gialli cinema after a stint of supernatural horror movies in Suspiria (1977) & Inferno (1980) and boy did he come out swinging. Part Slasher, part Giallo and part commentary on how the critics had maligned his back catalogue as misogynist. Tenebrae stand up as maybe his more straight forward Giallo but still twisty and turny nonetheless. Join me tomorrow as we take a look at Number 6 on the list. Edgar Wright's filmography is quite impressive...and in 2021 he made quite possibly his best overall film, although technically it bombed. In this retrospective CK and Uncle Bill dive deep into 'Last Night In Soho' and discuss why this film is possibly a modern genre masterpiece!!

Support Night Clerk Radio on Patreon In this episode, we're digging into the music of Eighth Tower Records, a record label that focuses on “dark music and fiction.” We selected albums that were inspired by influential horror artists, Zdzisław Beksiński and Lucio Fulci. While they worked with very different mediums their art shares a similar abstract nightmare aesthetic and pessimistic worldview. Consequently, the albums inspired by their work are equally haunting and evocative. Welcome to Giallo of the Month Club! On this spoiler free episode, Dianna dives into A24's latest release during a discussion with MEDUSA DELUXE (2022) writer-director Thomas Hardiman. Talented, ambitious, and backstabbing hairstylists gather for a competition in England, only to find one of their own murdered before judging can begin. Winding through neon-lit halls and backstage dressing rooms, competitors unspool long-simmering resentments and secrets as they search for the killer among them, in this devilishly funny whodunit from debut filmmaker Thomas Hardiman. Dianna also delves into the history and influence of gialli in the United Kingdom.

Is the pacing too languid or just right? Is this a first-time director setting the giallo world ablaze with uncommon themes and visual techniques—or a novice whose ambitions far outpace his actual talent?
