Duncan Mackay spent the 1970s at the keyboard of British popular and progressive music, often invisibly, yet seldom far from its most defining moments. MacKay first built a reputation in South Africa which brought him back to England where he joined Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, just as ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)’ reached number one, and it was at Abbey Road during those sessions that he first encountered producer Alan Parsons. That relationship drew him into the Alan Parsons Project and, through the same circle, into the studio with Kate Bush, on whose first three albums he played. He later joined 10cc after an impromptu jam with Rick Fenn led to an invitation to Strawberry Studios South, arriving in time for ‘Dreadlock Holiday’ and another number one. He also recorded with Camel and served as musical director for Elkie Brooks while maintaining a solo career. Now based in South Africa and working in his home studio he is free to undertake the most enjoyable recording project of his career, his new album with Mauritz Lotz, A Beautiful Madness. A memorable celebration was held on St. Patrick's Day to mark the launch of the powerful new book See Me: Street Poetry from the St. Vincent de Paul Society, with the author Jordan Grantham in attendance. Jordan, a communications and public relations professional and dedicated member of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia, offered a compelling and heartfelt reflection on the Society's mission to serve those experiencing homelessness and hardship. He provided valuable insights into how “Vinnies” operates both locally and globally, highlighting the depth and dignity of its outreach, as well as practical and accessible ways for individuals to become involved in meaningful service. Drawing from his own experience, Jordan also explored the profound intersection of faith, creativity, and charity. He shared how simple yet powerful Catholic practices can be lived out through acts of service, artistic expression, and community engagement—bringing the Gospel to life in tangible ways. Central to the evening was Jordan's journey working alongside a diverse group of creative writers, many of whom have lived through significant hardship. Their voices, captured authentically and without filter, form the heart of this remarkable collection. Through poetry, they offer raw, honest, and deeply human reflections on struggle, resilience, and hope. See Me is a moving and beautifully curated anthology—one that not only gives voice to the often unheard, but also invites readers to encounter the dignity of every person. It is a work that inspires, challenges, and ultimately touches the hearts of all who engage with it.   Don't forget to get your copy by clicking the link below: https://www.booktopia.com.au/see-me-jordan-grantham/book/9781763628809.html?srsltid=AfmBOooDzTJOXZP1PKANt54LWHnd8-BCp2dN1NfbLGb3CIHh9Gp0lZ02    – The Show is Live on the following Platforms Television   TV Maria: tvmaria.ph  Radio Platforms: Voice of Charity Australia (1701AM): www.voc.org.au    Radio Maria Australia: https://www.radiomaria.org.au/  Cradio: www.cradio.org.au  Social Media:  @thecatholictoolboxshow Facebook & Instagram - Partners: Parousia Media: www.parousiamedia.com EWTN Asia Pacific www.ewtnasiapacific.com - SUBSCRIBE to our weekly Alert and Newsletter: www.thecatholictoolboxshow.com Get your copy of "The Art of Practical Catholicism" by George Manassa: Get your copy of "The Art of Practical Catholicism Series" by George Manassa: store.parousiamedia.com/the-art-of-practical-catholicism-your-faith-guide-george-manassa-paperback/  https://store.parousiamedia.com/the-art-of-practical-catholicism-2-your-faith-guide-george-manassa-paperback/    Book George Manassa to speak at your parish or event now: www.parousiamedia.com/george-manassa/    DISCLAIMER This Episode does not count as Medical, Psychological or professional advice. Diane Heiler shares her deeply moving journey of caring for her husband during his 20‑month “death sentence” from an incurable disease — a journey she chronicles with raw honesty and artistry in her memoir, A Widow's Fire: An Intimate Memoir of Heartbreak, Survival, and Moving On. With poetry and art as lifelong companions, Diane turned to daily journaling to navigate the relentless progression of her husband's illness. Out of that quiet practice, poetry emerged — a lifeline and a mirror to her grief. In her poem See Me, she writes: See me… standing here with my broken heart in my hand… blowing kisses into the air and sending love up into the heavens… so far from where I am. After his passing, Diane retreated to her mountaintop home in North Carolina, seeking solitude in her sorrow. Months later, at her sister's urging, she reluctantly attended a country club dance — and unexpectedly, a new chapter began. From her poem My Christmas Blessing: I have been blessed with the presence of living in the light of someone special. He is gone from me now. But the afterglow of his goodness and his love is still shining through the windows in his heart and gracing my existence. I follow a light in the pathway he has drawn for me and see that in his wisdom he wants me to be safe, happy, and fulfilled. I am blessed. Diane's story reminds us that love continues in many forms — and that healing often begins in the most unexpected moments. “We stay true to ourselves even when others unfairly judge us.” - Diane Heiler CONNECT WITH DIANE: Email: misspriss12923@me.com Book: A Widow's Fire: An Intimate Memoir of Heartbreak, Survival, and Moving On. “The Champ… is here.” Join Ian and special guest Stew from The Stew World Order Podcast as we sit down at the Ringside Roundtable to take a deep-dive look at one of the most polarizing, celebrated, and influential wrestlers in WWE history — John Cena. Across nearly two decades, Cena went from Ruthless Aggression rookie to the face of an entire era, and this special episode breaks down every chapter of his career with honesty, insight, and maybe a few “You Can't See Me” jokes. This week we discuss the following  while debating we can be seen or not: Our Cena origin stories — Ruthless Aggression debuts, the Undertaker handshake, the F-U era, the rapper gimmick, and the pivot to PG's Hustle, Loyalty, Respect. Which version of Cena did we meet first? What made Cena appealing — why kids adored him, whether his “Never Give Up” mantra was authentic, and if he was secretly underrated in-ring all along. Where the hate came from — the roots of the Cena Sucks movement, the difference between hating the booking and hating Cena himself, and whether fans resented how “corporate” he felt. Was the backlash justified? — did fan criticism have merit, or did Cena silence doubters with consistently strong, big-match performances later in his career? Cena's in-ring legacy — how good he actually was bell-to-bell, the key matches that define his style, and whether “Super Cena” booking helped or hindered him. The Cena character — iconic or limiting? Should he have turned heel? And how effective was his mic work beyond the occasional goofy promo? Did Cena make stars… or bury them? — who benefitted most from working with him (Owens, Styles, Umaga) and who fans believe he held back. Was Cena good for wrestling overall? — did he grow the audience or preside over decline? Was his mainstream presence a net positive? And did WWE rely on him too heavily? Cena's cultural footprint — is he WWE's last true megastar? How Make-A-Wish shaped his legacy, and whether Hollywood changed how fans view him today. Cena vs. modern WWE — how he'd fare if he debuted now, how his style fits today's product, and whether Roman Reigns is truly Cena 2.0. The endgame — did Cena step away at the right time? Should Gunther be his final opponent? Is Saturday Night's Main Event the right farewell? Does he need one last WrestleMania moment? Defining rivalries — the feuds that shaped his career, whether he elevated or overshadowed opponents, and our Top 5 Cena Rivalries each. Cena's legacy — where he ranks all-time, how defining he was for the PG Era, and how his longevity compares to Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, and Roman Reigns. And finally, the verdict — was John Cena good or bad for wrestling? Has history softened the criticism? And what is his true legacy when everything is weighed together? The Wolf & Action Jackson will admit they aren't the world's biggest Beatles fans. Though we appreciate their influence to help create the music we love through generations, we generally don't gravitate towards their albums. However, in researching Rubber Soul as it turns 60 on December 3, we gained new appreciation and respect for the Lads from Liverpool. They had grown up quite a bit in the last few years and found themselves writing more mature lyrics while experimenting with different sounds. The Beatles had met and befriended Bob Dylan and in their second trip to the US had met Elvis and formed mutual admiration societies with The Byrds, Motown and Stax. They experimented with LSD and the boys used to call Rubber Soul the pot album as they partook during the recording. So as they wove all those influencers into their own music, they also started to write more personal songs. Paul exchanged sweet nothings for standoffish goodbyes in songs like You Won't See Me and I'm Looking Through You. A contemplative John Lennon reminisces about growing up (In My Life) and the eternal search for that special someone (Girl). Young George Harrison was ready to step up to the plate with his own mature offerings like Think For Yourself and If I Needed Someone. The album was well received by peers and critics and is considered the point where the album became more than just a larger collection of songs but one statement from a moment in time. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) was an international hit about an affair John had. Michelle seems like a sweet ode to a French girl when it was the boys making fun of Paul for trying to speak French at parties to meet girls. Even the big hit Drive My Car is very tongue in cheek about the silliness and pitfalls of fame. Though the oldest of them were 25, The Beatles proved they were more than just cute mop tops with guitars. They were artists pushing the envelope in the studio of what rock music could be. Regular listeners might guess what we thought of the album, but let's not spoil the surprise!  We also look at Louder magazine's recent poll where their readers voted for Genesis' 10 best-ever songs.   Spoiler alert:  Only 2 of the selected songs are post-Peter Gabriel's departure.   For those interested, we covered Genesis in Series 2, Episode 15, and Peter Gabriel in Series 2, Episode 14 There's plenty here you may not have known.  Enjoy!  References: Jethro Tull, Curious Ruminant, Gene Simmons, Nick Cave, Flea, Genesis best of all time, Robert Dimery, Cancer, Cockney Rebel, The Human Menagerie, The Psychomodo, Diamond Dogs, For Your Pleasure, polio, The Rolling Stones, Jean-Paul Crocker, Stuart Elliott, Paul Jeffreys, Lockerbie, New Musical Express, Rock Australia Magazine, Sebastian, Mr. Soft, Cavaliers, Ritz, The Best Years of our Lives, Make Me Smile (Come up and See Me), Sounds, Francis Monkman, Here Comes the Sun, The Cockney Rebel – A Steve Harley Anthology, BBC Radio 2 Sounds of the 70s. Playlists: Episode playlist The Psychomodo Gene Symonds Weather Man
