This week, Zach Hunter joins me in a discussion about Charlottesville and racism in general. I am super excited to have him on the show and I can't wait for you to hear what we delve into a bit. We rant, rave, and make jokes about slow-cookers! Both of us are White American Christian men, and we acknowledge that plainly, so a lot of the discussion will be geared in that direction. There was a slight problem with the recordings, so I am sorry for any clicks, bumps, or pops you hear while we are talking. I hope you enjoy this episode and walk away with some idea of things you can do to work against hate in this country that impacts your life. Music: www.bensound.com Learn more about your ad choices. This is a deep and challenging episode. We ravage through the topics of the dualism argument, the gender fluidity of God, humanism, eastern versus western world views, outer space, Elon Musk, social justice, and why the church has sucked at it. That's just in the first half! You will enjoy Zach Hunter, his thoughts, ideas, LGBTQ inclusivity, and his challenging of modern day Christianity. "Justice is not just something for white Christians to seek for "exotic" parts of the world from the comfort of our couches. Justice is here and now. Justice is the same whether we are talking about the treatment of LGBT+ people, victims of police violence, or victims of human trafficking. It is the same Justice. Seeking Justice is one of the most practical acts of worship in which a Christian can take part. It is practically loving your neighbor; it is respecting the temple, the image of God." - Zach Hunter LISTEN ON iTunes | Soundcloud | Stitcher | Google Play | TuneIn | iHeart
LISTEN ON iTunes | Soundcloud | Stitcher | Google Play | TuneIn | iHeart The statistics are in. Christianity and the Western Christian Church is losing. Which is exciting to some and frightening to others. Author and Abolitionist Zach Hunter and I have a fabulous discussion around justice, empathy, and compassion as well as we both take sides on whether or not we feel the church is worth saving in our lifetime. As many of you know, I don’t have a lot of “Christians” on the show. I’m tired of them, their message and reasoning are incomplete, and their audience is enabled not empowered. Zach is an exception to my religious profiling. He’s educated and impassioned about bring justice to an unjust world. He’s not defensive of the church; he's challenging it. As one who has left the church with no hope of returning. I Zac, have nothing of value to bring them. I left the building; I vacated the property, I'm now nothing more than an apostate, a heretic, so my opinion should be meaningless because I have chosen to desert them, not help them change. But Zach feels differently, and I am glad he does.
When Zach Hunter was 12, he founded a charitable campaign called Loose Change to Loosen Chains that aimed to raise funds and awareness to fight human trafficking. That's been going on for 13 years and now he's working on doubling-down on his commitment to justice both professionally and personally; not just when it's convenient and not just when it's halfway around the world. Zach shares how to take action and having the courage to make a difference. You can connect with Zach by visiting his website - zachhunter.tv/..

Don't miss out on this opportunity to "be the change". Check out our interview with 19-year-old modern day slavery abolitionist Zach Hunter. Zach gives us insight on how his interests became his passions with his Loose Change to Loosen Chains campaign, and talks about how to prevent modern day slavery. He's on a mission to inspire young people to find their passions and to "DO SOMETHING" to change the world, instead of waiting around for others to do it.
