    Ivy Insights

The A History of the United States podcast is an incredibly engaging and informative podcast that delves into the history of the United States. I stumbled upon it while searching for a podcast on Jamestown, and I quickly became hooked, listening to 33 episodes in just four days. The stories are clear, the details are fun and digestible, and overall it is a great podcast.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the attention to detail. The host, Jamie, goes above and beyond to provide thorough research and offers many primary sources to back up his information. He also takes care to explain any biases behind these sources and analyzes inconsistencies among different sources. This level of detail makes for an incredibly interesting and reliable history podcast.

Another great aspect is how Jamie incorporates unexpected philosophical truths into the narrative. He has a knack for sneaking in thought-provoking statements that make you pause and reflect. For example, he said, "When you're wearing rose-colored glasses all the red flags just look like flags." These moments add depth to the storytelling and make you think beyond just historical facts.

However, one drawback of this podcast is that sometimes it can be hard to follow because it feels like it's all over the place. While Jamie does provide clear stories, there are times when he jumps between different colonies or topics without giving a proper overview or review first. It would be helpful if he took more time to provide context or summarize before switching between subjects.

In conclusion, The A History of the United States podcast is by far one of the best history podcasts out there. Jamie's dedication to research, attention to detail, and ability to tell captivating stories sets this podcast apart from others. Despite some occasional disorganization in storytelling, it remains an excellent source of historical education and entertainment.
