Recording of BBC Radio 2 Pause for Thought - dedicated to Rabbi Lionel Blue
A bad Christian's guide to prayer
Progressive faith in the context of 'wokeness' and 'cancel culture'. I'm sorry I've had to take out the song at the end of the video but you can see it at https://bit.ly/3CZxRDj
It is not throughout perfections that we can help to heal the world but our brokenness
Faith isn't about a list of beliefs, it's about opening the heart to give God (or angels…or hopes and dreams or unimaginable things) somewhere to land within us
Why the worlds needs progressive versions of faith
Thoughts prompted by Sandi Toksvig's public letter to the Archbishop of Canterbury
Is God personal - or is that just make believe?
Not a Supreme Being ‘out there', looking for God in the depths of the material world, a God of dirt and passion, a pervading presence in everything, the energy that causes the universe to grow and evolve.
Why trying to prove there is a God is not a great idea...
A big reason churches have haemorrhaged members for decades is because people will no longer be told by church functionaries and dogmatic Bible-punching preachers what to believe and how to behave..
I know more LGBT+ people than I could ever number (who may never go near a church) who show me what being a kind, compassionate, decent human being is all about
What the Bible says about LGBT issues
The story of an exorcism turns out to have political undertones
I don't believe in a devil 'out there' but i do believe in reality of evil in the world...making sense of the semantics of Satan, demons and evil in the 21st century
Pentecost - promise of a new inclusive world, not the birthplace of a new religion
How to read the book of Revelation & still be a Christian - Part 2
How to read the Book of Revelation & still be a Christian - Part 1
Based on an interpretation of St Paul, Protestant Christianity stresses that human effort to be good, or to do good deeds, is worthless before God - that faith in Jesus is all that matters. I disagree. And here's why...
Jesus wasn't the product of a cosmic trick, he was a human being utterly receptive to divinity...a man awake when most around him were asleep...
No one has a monopoly on toxicity…no one has a monopoly on truth… What the world needs is unflinching truth with unflinching compassion
Jesus, Paul and Empire - lifting Paul out of the matrix of the Reformation and placing him back in the first century where he belongs
The writings of St Paul are renowned to be sexist, but perhaps the opposite is true - a rethink about what Paul really said about women and what he didn't...
First in Lent series exploring how to read Paul and still be a Christian!
Two-year anniversary special - plus a bit of God-ology
I'm Not Leaving..I'm Arriving - there is always a greater wholeness to life than the things we cling to. There is no opposite to life – just life in a different form.
Reflections the morning after the atrocity at London Bridge and Borough High Street
