#753 - She Was Told She Couldn't Sing—Then Spirit Took the Stage! With Pamela Bob

EVEN MORE about this episode! What happens when divine guidance moves through music, creativity, and the courage to trust your calling?Join Julie Ryan and Broadway star Pamela Bob as they explore spiritual channeling, divine timing, singing as sacred expression, and how play and creativity reveal why we incarnate. In this heartfelt and inspiring episode, Pamela opens up about the sacred vulnerability of singing, why performing for an intimate room can feel more terrifying than a packed theater, and how music aligns with our unique energetic vibration. From the emotional force of shows like Ragtime to a childhood moment of divine recognition—“I think this is God”—this conversation dives deep into artistry as a spiritual calling.Listeners will be captivated by Pamela's jaw-dropping story of channeling June Carter Cash during a nightly, unscripted improvisation—an experience so powerful that Julie reveals June herself chose Pamela in the audition and guided her through every performance. Pamela also shares the brutal truth behind elite performing arts training, where she was repeatedly told she couldn't sing, yet trusted her inner knowing enough to persevere when others were cut. That same guidance later led her from a lucid dream to creating the award-winning Livin' On a Prairie, as the right people and opportunities appeared at exactly the right time. This episode is ultimately a love letter to play, joy, and remembering who you were before the world told you who to be. Pamela reflects on the transformative power of creativity through stories like Encore, where adults rediscover themselves through performance, and offers a simple yet profound invitation for anyone feeling stuck: return to what you loved as a child. The conversation closes with a tear-filled reflection on why we incarnate at all—sparked by a dying woman's final words: “It was so much fun.”Guest Biography:Pamela Bob is a multifaceted actor, singer, and award-winning screenwriter whose career spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, film, television, and podcasting. On Broadway, she appeared in the Tony-nominated Hand to God and the Tony Award–winning A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, where she famously covered all six female roles and regularly stepped into leading performances. Off-Broadway, she starred as Clarice Starling in the cult hit Silence! The Musical—named one of Time Magazine's ten must-see NYC shows—and earned a BroadwayWorld nomination for Best Actor for her role in Cracked Open. Pamela is also the creator and star of the acclaimed series Livin' On a Prairie, an award-winning, festival-selected exploration of pop culture obsession inspired by Little House on the Prairie, which won Best TV Series and Best Actress at the LA International Film Fest. She currently co-hosts the Little House on the Prairie 50th Anniversary Podcast, which has surpassed one million downloads and recently sold out its first live NYC event. In this episode of the Livin' in San Diego Podcast, Chris and Cassidy recap a packed weekend across North County — from State Cup soccer wrapping up to a team stop at Fazeli Winery in Temecula for flatbreads and views. Chris also recommends checking out a San Diego Sockers game at Frontwave Arena for one of the best-value family nights around, while Cass shares baseball season updates, a soccer scrimmage at Palomar College, a birthday party at Five Tool in San Marcos, and Braden's first round of golf at Rancho Carlsbad. They also touch on their recent brokerage move from eXp Realty to LPT Realty and ongoing remodel updates. The Super Bowl recap follows, and let's just say… not exactly an instant classic. The guys break down the defensive-heavy game, underwhelming commercials (with a few exceptions like Coinbase, State Farm, and Jurassic Park), Chris splitting his bets including the lost coin flip, and the food spread featuring buffalo chicken dip straight off the Frank's RedHot bottle. They also look ahead to adult league softball returning to Poinsettia, spring training kicking off, and debate whether Luis Arráez truly fits at second base long term.In the “New To-Do and ADU” segment, they highlight Little Oaks Bakehouse in Leucadia and Christie's oversized pie-style cookies (pickup Tuesdays and Fridays), plus a Hop WTR x Stone Brewing collaboration called Centennial Citrus. They encourage listeners to hunt down Pliny the Younger from Russian River Brewing before its broader Northern California release, and discuss the Vista City Council exploring a potential city logo redesign. The episode wraps with the San Diego Story of the Week, revisiting the 1994 Chargers' run to Super Bowl XXIX and what made that season so memorable. Greeting My Visionary Dreamers In today's episode of The Chronicles of Livin' Podcast Show, I'm talking about one of life's biggest glow-ups that nobody warned us about: getting older. And no, I'm not talking about aches and random noises when you stand up (even though… whew). I'm talking about clarity. Because the older you get: • Your patience gets selective • Your peace becomes non-negotiable • Your circle gets smaller—but way healthier • And you stop explaining yourself to people who already decided not to understand you This is a face-to-face, kitchen-table, “you know what I mean” kind of conversation. No pretending. No sugarcoating. Just real life, real lessons, and real laughter from someone who's lived enough chapters to tell the truth about them. If you've ever said: “I don't have the energy for that anymore” “That used to bother me… now it doesn't” “I wish I knew THIS years ago” …this episode is for you. Midway through, I'll pause for a Love Notes To Self Conversa™ card pull. I also take a moment to spotlight one of my heart-led businesses/products, because entrepreneurship, healing, and purpose don't live in separate boxes—they flow together. And to close it out, I guide a short grounding meditation to help you integrate what came up, settle your spirit, and walk away lighter than you came. This is a face-to-face, grown-folk, real-life conversation. No fluff. No performing. Just presence, truth, laughter, and alignment. If you're in a season of listening more, forcing less, and trusting the unfolding—this episode is for you. ✨ Because sometimes the assignment isn't to promote… It's to show up. And let the people find you.  So hit play, laugh a little, reflect a lot, and give yourself permission to grow without guilt. Because the older you get… the more YOU you become. LOL And honestly? That's the blessing.

This week's episode is a fun mix of sports, local spots, and classic San Diego randomness. We start with some tournament talk, including a huge walk-off homer and some gritty games on the baseball field. Then we jump into some MLB updates - Padres news, Verlander heading to the Pads, and a recap of our latest NFL picks. On the local side, we take a lap around Carlsbad and shout out some favorite spots near Faraday like Prager Bros, Pannikin Coffee, Felix's BBQ, Savory Farms, and Arcana Brewing. We also talk about that compost smell around El Corazon and what might be going on there. In “New, To Do, and Adieu,” we cover the return of Las Cuatro Milpas and Southwest Airlines update, check out SeaWorld's concert lineup, and ask whether ski season at Big Bear is basically a no-go this year.Plus, in our San Diego Story of the Week, we get into the growing crow population around the county and where they've really started to take over.Sports, food, local news, and everyday life around San Diego. Just another week livin' in San Diego.
