Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 16ú lá de mí Iúil, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1993 baineadh geit as na daoine a raibh ag obair d'aerlíne mar go raibh ísliú pá de 34 milliúin punt. I 1999 d'éalaigh dhá ghardaí ón clúb eitilt de bharr go raibh tuirlingt de thuairt an oíche roimhe agus thit an t-eitleán ar a ceann. I 1998 dhún 25 leaba mháinliachta ag Ospidéal Our Lady's I gCaiseal do ceithre sheachtain agus do dhá seachtain I mí na Nollaig agus cheap siad go mbeidís chun 75 míle punt a shábháil. Dhún siad de bharr go raibh siad ag caitheamh an iomarca airgead i ndeisceart an tír. I 2009 bhí grúpa cónaitheoirí ag seasamh ag an áirse a raibh damáiste déata dó I dTeampall Mór agus bhí leamhsháinn leis na húdaráis. Bhí na daoine a raibh ina chónaí ann ag rá go raibh siad ag iarradh an áirse a coimeád de bharr go raibh sé struchtúr cosanta. Sin Ricky Martin le Livin' La Vida Loca – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1999 Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1969 agus iad ag taifead a albam Abbey Road, bhí The Beatles ag obair ar dhá amhráin George Harrison, Here Comes The Sun agus Something. Tháinig inspioráid chuig George Harrison chun scríobh Here Comes The Sun nuair a thóg sé lá as ag obair agus chaith sé an lá ag siúil timpeall gairdín ag tí Eric Clapton. I 2000 chuaigh Coldplay chuig uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain lena chéad albam darbh ainm Parachutes. Bhí amhráin ar an albam cosúil le Shiver, Yellow, Trouble agus Don't Panic agus bhuaigh siad Grammy don albam sin I 2002. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Michael Flatley I Meiriceá I 1958 agus rugadh aisteoir Will Ferrell I Meiriceá ar an lá seo I 1967 agus seo chuid de na rudaí a rinne sé. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 16th of July, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1993: There was shock as air staff faced £34 million pay cuts. 1999: two members of the garda flying club had a miraculous escape last night after their aircraft crash landed and over turned. 1998 - TWENTY-FIVE surgical beds at Our Lady's Hospital, Cashel, closed for four weeks with a further two weeks in December at an estimated saving of £75,000. The closures are in a bid to stem the growing tide of over expenditure in the South Eastern Health Board region. 2009 - A group of residents were standing at the damaged arch in Templemore, which caused a stand-off with authorities. Residents argued that they did not want the arch removed as it was a 'protected structure. That was Ricky Martin with Livin' La Vida Loca – the biggest song on this day in 1999 Onto music news on this day In 1969 During recordings for their Abbey Road album, The Beatles worked on two new George Harrison songs, 'Here Comes The Sun' and 'Something.' Harrison was inspired to write 'Here Comes The Sun' when taking a day off from Apple business and spending the day walking around the garden at Eric Clapton's house. 2000 Coldplay went to No.1 on the UK album chart with their debut release Parachutes. The release spawned the hit singles 'Shiver', 'Yellow', 'Trouble', and 'Don't Panic' and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – dancer Michael Flatley was born in America in 1958 and actor Will Ferrell was born in America on this day in 1967 and this is some of the stuff has done. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.
Twenty-five years after the world braced for Y2K, we're celebrating our 99th mixtape with a journey through the musical landscape of 1999 – arguably one of music's most transformative years. From Latin pop explosions to hip-hop revolutions, this episode captures the diverse soundscape that defined a generation. The late 90s represented a unique cultural moment when music discovery happened primarily through radio and MTV, creating shared experiences difficult to imagine in today's fragmented landscape. When Ricky Martin burst onto English-language charts with "Livin' La Vida Loca," he didn't just score a hit – he opened doors for countless Latin artists to follow. Meanwhile, Eminem's debut "My Name Is" signaled something revolutionary was happening in hip-hop, establishing a controversial voice that would dominate for decades. What made 1999 truly special was its balance of innovation and emotional depth. Blink-182's "Adam's Song" tackled teenage suicide with remarkable sensitivity, while Moby's reluctantly-included "Porcelain" brought electronic music further into the mainstream. The Chicks challenged radio censors with "Goodbye Earl," a darkly comedic take on domestic abuse packaged in an upbeat country crossover hit. These weren't just songs; they were cultural touchstones that reflected the optimism, anxiety, and creativity of a society on the cusp of a new millennium.https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/1999-mix-99-episodes/pl.u-mJy8137uNE8XR1q https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4qZC4ONJesEZ2d6uz9s55j?si=da64abcd6c8c46de Livin' la Vida Loca by Ricky MartinMy Name Is by EminemSomeday We'll Know by New RadicalsBetter Days (And the Bottom Drops Out) by Citizen KingGoodbye Earl by The ChicksSteal My Sunshine by LENAdam's Song by blink-182Porcelain by MobyMy Own Worst Enemy by LitScar Tissue by Red Hot Chili PeppersHeartbreaker (feat. From sports crossovers to local happenings, we're covering it all in this episode! We kick things off with a fun debate—who wore it better: Giants or Padres players? Then we dive into our recent client party at Michi Brew Co, recap a wild weekend of youth competitive soccer, and break down what's going on in the NL West post-All-Star break. Plus, some North County news you should know: Legoland's got a new experience, an Encinitas favorite is closing, and an iconic taco shop might be no mas.
„Easy Livin'“ ist ein echter Hardrock-Klassiker und war einer der größten Erfolge der Band Uriah Heep. Veröffentlicht wurde der Song im Jahr 1972 und er hat nichts mit dem Klischee vom leichten Leben - Sex and Drugs and Rock'n'Roll - zu tun hat. Der Text geht deutlich tiefer, denn er feiert ein sinnstiftendes und deshalb leichtes Leben.

Elevating Songwriters in Music City… In the heart of Music City, a groundbreaking network of nearly 400 songwriters, known as Livin' The Write Life, is redefining collaboration and success in the music industry. Founded by songwriter Michael "Cef" Cefaratti, this vibrant "tribe" is dedicated to empowering its members and disrupting the traditional music publishing model. A Network Built on Mutual Support and Strength in Numbers Livin' The Write Life operates on the core belief that "your net worth is your network." Songwriter Cody Kelley emphasizes this ethos, stating, "We show up for each other, to prove there's strength in numbers." This collaborative spirit is evident in their consistent support for each other's performances, from showcases and writer's nights to "in-the-rounds." The network leverages the diverse skills and backgrounds of its members to benefit everyone, whether it's bargaining for studio time or securing airplay. Addressing Industry Challenges and Fostering New Talent Cefaratti highlights a critical issue in today's music landscape: the domination of a few major publishing houses. "It's near impossible for an unsigned writer to get a listen – much less a cut, today," he explains, "meaning the industry, not the artist, decides what music you hear." Livin' The Write Life aims to counteract this by building a comprehensive in-house service complement for its members, including publishing, song pitching/placement, a record label, and career management for aspiring artists. The network is uniquely structured around the needs of working songwriters, many of whom balance regular jobs with their passion. This flexibility ensures that "everybody has a chance to be heard and to write with other songwriters in our tribe." They celebrate successes, offer support during challenges, and transform these experiences into relatable, authentic songs. Cultivating Tomorrow's Sound Livin' The Write Life is focused on shaping the future of music. Kelley points out that "the songs on the radio right now were written at least 2 years ago... That songwriting style may not be popular 2 years from now." The tribe encourages its writers to break free from formulas and rules, allowing songs to evolve naturally. This forward-thinking approach is leading to the creation of "genre-less" music that transcends traditional boundaries of country, pop, and rock, preparing for an anticipated shift in the industry. Adysen Malek, a new songwriter in Music City, quickly found her place within Livin' The Write Life. She credits the tribe with helping her improve her craft in a supportive, non-competitive environment, stating, "None of us improves or succeeds, we all benefit and celebrate." Connect with Livin' The Write Life To discover upcoming writer showcases and connect with this innovative network of songwriters, visit the Livin' The Write Life Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/livi... /> Artists and producers interested in collaborating can also schedule private listening appointments directly through their Instagram page. ABOUT LIVIN' THE WRITE LIFE: Nashville's New Model for Songwriting & Publishing Livin' The Write Life is emerging as a groundbreaking force in Nashville's music scene, redefining the landscape for independent songwriters and performers. This innovative network, founded by songwriter and entrepreneur Michael "Cef" Cefaratti, comprises nearly 400 affiliated individuals who collectively form a powerful "tribe." Empowering Independent Songwriters through Community and Opportunity At its core, Livin' The Write Life operates on an "everyone's welcome at the table" philosophy, providing crucial opportunities for aspiring songwriters. Through its limited Open Mic events, the organization offers a platform for new voices to be heard. The most promising talents are invited to join the exclusive "tribe," gaining access to high-profile exposure at renowned Writer's Nights and Showcases throughout Nashville. A Collective Approach to Success in Music City Livin' The Write Life is more than just a network; it's a supportive community where collaboration fuels collective success. By bringing together a large and diverse group of independent creatives, the organization aims to empower its members in an industry often dominated by major labels. This collective strength provides avenues for song pitching, publishing, and career development that might otherwise be out of reach for individual songwriters. Discover New Talent and Connect with Livin' The Write Life To learn more about Livin' The Write Life, discover upcoming events, and connect with this dynamic community of songwriters, visit their official Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/livi.... Bill released 8 albums from 1969-1977 with Sons of Champlin then moved to LA to become a solo artist and session musician, co-writing two Grammy-winning tunes. He was the designated soul singer in Chicago from 1981-2009 and released several solo albums starting in 1990 while continuing to collaborate widely. We discuss "Alone" from Livin' for Love (2021), the title track from He Started to Sing (1995), and "Right On" by Sons of Champlin from Welcome to the Dance (1973). End song: "Plaid" by Chicago from Stone of Sisyphus (1992). Intro: "Please Hold On" from Chicago 17 (1984). Learn more at billchamplin.com. Hear more Nakedly Examined Music. Support us on Patreon.
We remember Broadway composer Charles Strouse, who died May 15 at age 96. He wrote the music for the hit musicals Bye Bye Birdie and Annie, which included such songs as "Put On a Happy Face," "A Lot of Livin' to Do," and "Tomorrow." Jay-Z sampled "Hard Knock Life," from Annie, on a Grammy-award-winning rap recording. Strouse understood why: "I wanted that song to be gritty. I didn't want it to be a fake. I wanted it to show these desperate times and these maltreated girls." Strouse spoke with Terry Gross in 2002. Also, critic-at-large John Powers reviews Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Nothing but the pure life for Wells this week. Sun tans, surprise birthday decorations, spanish TV, and wait…back pain? Dammit. Side effect of turning 41 we guess. But hey, no complaints when you're in paradise, right? Meanwhile, Brandi just wrapped up at Sand In My Boots Festival where by all accounts her sets were straight litty kitty, and now she's got The Sphere in her sights as she preps for 5 weeks in Vegas w/ country music guy Kenny Chesney! Your hosts then debate the merits of street vs book smarts, wonder if you can watch a TV show AND read the book at the same time, and dive deep into an Aladdin revision theory that actually kinda makes sense…speaking of The Sphere, have you been?
