Too many Christians truncate the good news of the gospel as if it stops at the cross. The gospel is MORE than the forgiveness of sin. It is also the glorious reality that we can now live in the presence of God once again! We can become who we were always intended to be: Image bearers of God living in His presence so that we might enjoy and glorify Him forever!

Some believe that being “filled with the Spirit” is about having a certain spiritual gift like tongues or prophecy. They imagine being “filled with the Spirit” to mean getting more of God's Spirit, a second blessing, or an extra anointing. But Ephesians is clear that being “filled with the Spirit” is simply knowing the love of Christ and being inspired by His great love (Ephesians 3:19; 5:18-21).

Being filled with the Spirit means allowing the Holy Spirit, who dwells within every believer, to guide, empower, and transform us daily. This releases God's gifts and character through us, impacting both us and those around us.Sprecher/Speaker: Manuel StaehlerBibeltext/Bible text: Jesaja 12:3

Sunday Liturgy Sermon @ St. Paul the Hermit Coptic Orthodox Church - Murfreesboro, TN ~ June 15, 2025 | Paone 8, 1741
We all feel the pull to escape into distractions, habits, or anything that helps us avoid the pressure and pace of life. But in Ephesians 5, Paul points us toward something better: life in the Spirit. In this episode, we unpack how being filled with the Holy Spirit empowers you to live wisely, discern God's will, and find meaning even in the mundane. Instead of zoning out, the Spirit calls us to zone in—to walk in wisdom, gratitude, and purpose.

In this powerful episode of the New Life Philly Podcast, we ask a crucial question: Are you yielding your mind and body to the Holy Spirit daily? Drawing from Ephesians 5:18—“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit”—we explore what it means to live under the Spirit's control, not just occasionally, but as a daily posture of surrender. You'll hear how ongoing yielding to the Holy Spirit transforms not only our personal walk with Jesus, but also empowers us to be bold, consistent witnesses for Christ in a world desperate for hope. Whether you're feeling spiritually dry or hungry for deeper connection with God, this episode will encourage and challenge you to live fully in the Spirit's power. What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit and what kind of impact does this have in the life of the believer, especially amidst an unbelieving culture? The church of Ephesus during the time of the Apostles found itself in the midst of a culture that celebrated sin and self-indulgence. With many believers being new gentile converts, the challenges of living a new unified life in Christ were immense. In the same way, we find ourselves living in the midst of a culture that celebrates self and elevates the sinful desires of the flesh. Being filled with the Spirit spurs on the Christian towards desires that reflect a new life in Christ and help in the fight against the flesh.
