Louis is the founder of 2 educational start-ups, and realised during the past year, about how he might need some professional support and help, in taking care and maintaining his mental health. We had a candid conversation about perspectives on mental health and wellbeing, and how it is helpful and beneficial to seek help/support even before we might truly need it. Hearing from Louis, and having him share his experiences and his awareness of self and his being, I am so encouraged and heartened, and I do hope that you too will have similar courage to reach out and ask for help and support. And even if it is not seeking counselling or therapy, perhaps start taking on active responsibility to care for your own mental health and overall wellbeing. Join us in this conversation, and let us know what your thoughts might be!
Amy lived with schizophrenia for a large part of her life. Before her diagnosis, it was hard for her and her family to understand what was actually happening. Part of it wondering if it was a spiritual possession, and the other part of it wondering if she was crazy. After her diagnosis, and gaining more awareness of her mental health condition, Amy gained steady improvements in her mental health. There are still good moments and bad moments and many moments of uncertainty. Through the learning and practice of Chinese Metaphysics such as Qimen Dunjia and Bazi, the journey supported her in gaining greater self awareness and she is better able to manage her thoughts and her emotions and regulate her behaviours, actions and habits. Join us in our conversation, and allow yourself to understand a little bit more about her experience living with schizophrenia.
"Whee" has been living with depression for about half her life. It was just before the COVID-19 pandemic, that she got a diagnosis for dysthymia (persistent depressive disorder). It is an amazing conversation, to learn more about her journey, and to listen to her dreams and hopes on how the mental health awareness journey can move forward for all of us.
After a bit of consideration, and asking for permission, we decided to have one last round of Ramadan Conversations. Will be delighted if you can join us, during these last 2 sessions, to reminisce, reflect and move forward in being more human, kind and compassionate, towards self and others

The intention for "Heart Conversations" is just that, with a play on the word "Heart" : speaking from the heart about the hard topics/conversations; areas that most people don't really want to speak about, either because it is too difficult, or is important and yet, seemingly too fluffy to discuss. So let's do it here, through this platform. This thread is dedicated to acknowledging and honouring women; one half of the human population here on earth. We want to speak and share about the highs and lows of being women, we want to hear from you too, about your experiences about being a woman. So please join in the conversation! In this fourth and final episode for this season, we leap into the next half of the year with a difficult conversation of the pains and struggles of being a woman. Don't get us wrong; we are not saying that men don't have pains and struggles. We are just saying, as women, we perhaps can share a bit more about these, from a woman's perspective. From physical pain, to mental and emotional struggles, let's be open and honest about it, and how it is a struggle for us, as we go about our daily lives. This is not a solutioning conversation. Meaning, we are not here to solve a problem; more sharing of perspectives, thoughts, experiences.

In this third episode, there's no better time to talk about balance than now! As we progress through another round of tighter measures till June 13th, let's not forget the impact of the measures on our brave ladies. Most of women today are constantly trying to balance multiple roles; They have to be mothers, sisters, daughters, leaders and even providers in their workplace and families. If that alone doesn't sound stressful, pile on the added pressure of managing the sudden work from home requirements, relationship challenges amplified from sharing the constrained work and personal space, emotional and financial strains incurred from the onset of the pandemic, being a stressed out frontliner, etc. Right now, more than ever, balance is very much needed. This is not a solutioning conversation. Meaning, we are not here to solve a problem; more sharing of perspectives, thoughts, experiences.

Let's explore the value of Commitment! We don't have to be committed to many things or many projects or many people. The reality is, we might not have the emotional space to do so. When we are committed, we will give our 200% and more towards the goal, project or person. Let's explore the value of Resilience! In this special episode, I share my distinctions of the values of determination, perseverance and resilience. In my experience interacting with different groups of people, I notice that they tend to use these 3 words quite loosely, interchanging between these three words, sometimes within the same breath! So this is my attempt to share how I distinct between the three words, and hopefully, it supports you to become clearer too! Share your experiences with us!
