Messages from Cornerstone Baptist Church in Warrenton, VA
When we use the word hope, we can think of it as similar to a wish while blowing out the candles on a birthday cake. But the message of Christmas goes much deeper than that. We will explore the depths of this hope in our new Christmas series - “The Birth of Hope”. BibleProject is the author and owner of the video shown in our service. One thing that can block our gratitude is the act of complaining. It is as common as breathing but robs us of the joy of giving gratitude to God. This Sunday, we will look at a way forward to point us more towards God and gratitude.
We can be in such a rush to get to Christmas that Thanksgiving can become the overlooked holiday. We have too much to do to slow down and give thanks. If that is you, come join us Sunday for our next installment of “Who Stole My Gratitude?” and hear how hurry can rob us.
The season of Thanksgiving is about turkey, football and gratitude. The turkey and football are readily available, but what if you are having a hard time with gratitude?

God's good life comes with a built in mission that helps fuel the fire of living well. This Sunday, we will discuss this mission and how it can impact those around us.
If the Good Life comes not from the things that we change on the outside, but from the change that comes on the inside of us, how do we make that change? This is what the Kingdom of God is all about.
We have hearts that are designed for excellence and eternity. Yet, we cannot find these things in this world because of the brokenness here. But what if God wanted to provide another option? Another way of living that could meet these desires of our hearts. This Sunday we will discuss the Kingdom of God and how this can meet our desires.
Many in our world today struggle with self-esteem. Yet, God says we are made in His image, that when we confess our faith in Christ, we actually become His children. That we carry a sense of dignity. How do we begin to walk in this dignity? This is what we will address this Sunday.
There are two schools of learning about life. One is the school of hard knocks, the other the school of wisdom. One comes from drifting, the other from intentionality. The tuition at either will have a price, but one yields far greater fruit. This Sunday, we will see how this works in real life.
What does it mean to live well? Make a lot of money, accomplish a level of success, become a good parent? Our culture is ready to give us a ton of measuring sticks, but what does God our maker say? Come this Sunday, we will begin to examine how God designed us to live well.
This Sunday is our Fall Kickoff service, complete with a post service BBQ lunch. During the service, we will look at the next steps on our VISION 25 path. This Sunday, our series Attitude Determines Altitude continues with the attitude of Teachability. Which raises the question, which school of life are you learning from? The school of wisdom or the school of hard knocks? One saves you a lot more time and pain, but it requires teachability as admission.
In our second message in our series Attitude Determines Altitude we discuss how you can be aggressive and still gain a positive response from both God and people. Too good to be true? Join us Sunday and find out how this very attitude enabled one Washington Commander fly.
We all deal with boundaries and outcomes in life. We want to evade the traps and find outcomes that bring us happiness. What if God actually wanted this for us too? How do we tap into what He knows? This is what this new series - “Attitude Determines Altitude” - is all about.
Can a Walk with God sustain us for life? Through the Hard Times, the changing times and over the long haul? This Sunday, Pastor Mike returns from his sabbatical to share how walking with God over the years provided unexpected blessings. This is part of our series “Preparing to Fly - Training for Everyday Faith” which aims to give us insights and helps for everyday faith.

This is part of our series “Preparing to Fly - Training for Everyday Faith” which aims to give us insights and helps for everyday faith.
One of the ways God wants to help us make good choices is to surround us with other people who are seeking God and who are for us. This Sunday, our elders Justin Leatherwood and Steve Rakoff will cover some disciplines that show us how others can be a part of our faith walks. This is part 2 of our series “Preparing to Fly - Training for Everyday Faith”

Being a Father is both a privilege and at times an overwhelming responsibility. Sometimes, it can cause a Dad to run from the situation and isolate. This Sunday, we are going to learn from the mistakes of a very famous Dad and draw out some lessons to help our Dads today.
It is one thing to talk about love, an entirely different thing to actually do love. This Sunday, we will take God's definition of love and look at it in action. And observe its power to change and to heal.
According to studies, one of the causes of isolation is in our heads and how we incorrectly read people. Imagine how much better life would be if we lived in communities where people were genuinely for us. This is what the church was intended to be.
This Sunday is another special message in our Vision 25 series as we share stories of God's goodness in Cornerstone's first 25 years. Our special guest will be Pastor Rusty Coram who has been a friend of Cornerstone for over a decade. We will be hearing from Rusty and a couple of folks from Cornerstone on how God provides.
One of the things that gets us out of isolation is giving our lives to something bigger than ourselves. Or having a sense of mission. Interestingly, God has designed us for this very thing and wants to provide us opportunities to give of ourselves.
This Sunday, we will have our Parent - Child Dedication and honor our moms in the service. We will also have a message aimed to encourage everyone in their walks with Christ, but especially the moms.
We participate on a lot of teams in life. But there is only one team that is built upon the foundation of grace - and that is the church. Within this grace is the power to break our addiction to self and our tendency to isolate. This Sunday, we will explore the power of this grace and how it is multiplied in community.
All the struggles of the recent pandemic can result not only in isolation, but weariness. Not just weariness of the body, but of the heart. What do we do when we are worn out on the inside? This Sunday, we will see how Jesus fits into this as we move into the second message of our “Isolation” series.
God has designed us for community, but community comes with risks and some pain. We might get hurt. What's the alternative? To live in fear of relational pain and WITHDRAW? That may provide "safety" for a bit, but it comes at a terrible cost. The life we are all looking for can only be found in risk-taking, giving community. Christ came to die so this to make this possible for all of us. Join us as we explore this in depth
If you are sick, you know that you have to deal with the core of the problem and not the symptoms. When it comes to using corrupt words, it is no different. This week, we will look at the source of all our words and the cure for what we find there. We will also be observing the Lord's Supper.

Some words are just bad. They hurt others and in a sense spread disease. Words like this need to be buried like the corruptive things that they are. But how do we recognize them? Even worse, what if we like using these kinds of words? Join us this Sunday, as the Bible helps us sharpen our recognition skills and gives us some ways forward with helpful words.
Just like our favorite power tool or kitchen appliance, our words have power. That means they come with great responsibility and the opportunity for blessing. Join us as we look deeper into the blessing that can come from words guided by God.
We are beginning a new series about the power of words. Words are everywhere and they have the ability to bless or hurt others. But it takes the wisdom and heart of Christ to use words properly - in any context.
