It's Wednesday, March 26th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 19 Christians arrested in Sudan, Africa Christians continue to suffer in Sudan during the ongoing civil war there. Fighters from one of the sides arrested at least 19 Christians in Sudan in recent months. The Christians face false accusations of supporting the other side in the war. A local attorney told Morning Star News, “This is systematic targeting of Christians who are arrested without taking them to a court of law to get justice.” Sudan is ranked fifth on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Revelation 2:10 says, “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Evangelicals are now the majority of Protestants in France In 2021, Protestants made up about 9% of the French population that attends religious services regularly. Protestants in France are mostly Evangelical now, reports Evangelical Focus. New data shows that 58% of French Protestants attend an Evangelical Free church outside of the historic Reformed or Lutheran denominations. Also, a quarter of French Protestants come from non-Protestant families, especially Catholic ones. Russia and Ukraine's ceasefire in Black Sea Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire in the Black Sea on Tuesday. This followed talks between officials from both countries and the Trump administration. The White House said, “The United States and Russia have agreed to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea.” The agreement is the latest in the attempt by U.S. President Donald Trump to bring an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine. 12 states consider displaying 10 Commandments in public school In the United States, over a dozen states have introduced bills to display the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms. Louisiana was the first state to mandate such displays. Texas is another state considering such a measure. Jonathan Saenz is an attorney with Texas Values who helped draft his state's bill. He told CBN News this is what voters want. SAENZ: “We're confident, with the recent election results, that this is what voters want. They want to make sure that we preserve our values and that we teach about these things in our public schools and we get back to basics.” And Montana Republican State Senator Keith Regier spoke from the floor of the Montana Senate in favor of posting The Ten Commandments in public schools. REGIER: “God is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. It's on our money, in music, like “God bless America.” It's in our literature, and it's in the pledge to the flag. Why would we not mention God in our schools? The courts need to understand that by removing God, they're replacing it with nothing.” Speaking of His commandments, God said in Deuteronomy 6:7, 9, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. … You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Trump freezes $20 million of funding to Planned Parenthood The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the Trump administration is freezing $120 million in federal funding for so-called family planning grants. This includes $20 million in funding for abortion giant Planned Parenthood. The federal funding freeze is part of a hold on grants that align with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, said, “This is a victory for the unborn and for taxpayers who have been forced to fund an industry that ends innocent lives.” Federal Reserve leaves interest rate alone The Federal Reserve decided to leave its benchmark interest rate unchanged yesterday. The rate remains in the range of 4.25% to 4.5%. The Fed indicated rate cuts are likely later this year. President Trump responded by calling for rate cuts as his import tariffs transition their way into the economy. Young Christian women more liberal than male peers Pew Research released their 2024 Religious Landscape Survey recently. Data shows that young, self-identified Christian women are more liberal than their male peers. Less than half of the young men support abortion and sexually perverted lifestyles. However, a majority of the young women support the same things. This gender gap in the church continues a trend that Pew Research has documented for at least 10 years. Average church raised $165,000 annually And finally, Faith Communities Today released a report on the annual income of churches in the U.S. Church income is recovering after a dip during the COVID-19 pandemic. The average church brought in $165,000 in 2023, up from $120,000 in 2020. The average church spent $160,000 over the year, and the average church member gave $2,222. However, the rise in income has not been enough to keep up with inflation. But 61% of churches were still able to self-report good or excellent financial health. SHOW NOTES: On this show…we are diving into the idea of emotional shape-shifting or adapting our emotions and behaviors in different social situations. Have you ever found yourself slipping into the role of mood manager—filling awkward silences, lifting a heavy atmosphere, or shifting your tone just to keep the peace? Maybe you've walked into a room, scanned the emotional temperature, and instinctively adjusted yourself to fit in, smoothing out discomfort like a social glue stick. If so, congratulations! You might be what I like to call an Emotional Shape-Shifter—the person who intuitively adapts to meet others where they are. Sounds like a superpower, right? And in many ways, it is. This kind of emotional adaptability can build connections, ease tensions, and make you the go-to person for support and social harmony. But here's the catch—when does being flexible turn into being too flexible? At what point do we stop adjusting and start erasing ourselves? Think about it - constantly mirroring other people's moods can be exhausting! If you've ever walked away from a conversation feeling emotionally drained—like you just carried the weight of someone else's energy—you're not alone. As a self-proclaimed shifter, I wanted to know, is emotional shape-shifting simply a form of empathy, or is it a close cousin of people-pleasing? And more importantly, how do we keep the good parts of this trait while setting boundaries that protect our own emotional well-being? Today, we're diving into the art of emotional adaptability—when it's a strength, when it's a slippery slope, and how to find the balance between connection and self-preservation. I was talking to a friend of mine about this idea and referred to myself as “the goo”...sounds weird, but think about it. Goo fills empty space. Ever notice how you become a slightly different version of yourself depending on who you're with or where you are? This isn't about being fake – it's something psychologists might call emotional shape-shifting, and it's actually a normal part of human behavior. Emotional shape-shifting can be defined as the process of adjusting or changing your emotional expression to suit different situations or people. It draws on our capacity for emotional regulation – the ability to control or modulate our feelings – and on emotional mirroring, where we unconsciously mimic another person's emotions to connect with them. In other words, it's like being an “emotional chameleon”, instinctively adapting to the social environment to blend in or put others at ease. Over at Psych Central, Hope Gillette tells us about Practicing Authenticity When You're Socially Adapting There are no set criteria that define someone as a social chameleon, but common traits can include: Empathy: Recognizing, relating, and responding to the thoughts and feelings of others. Adaptability: Being able to change your behavior readily in different situations. Open-mindedness: Always searching for a common ground with others' beliefs and interests. Social awareness: Being keen to subtle social cues, like body language, or shifts in others' moods and behaviors. Effective communication: Offering clear, engaging conversation and active listening. Displaying interest: Asking questions and displaying interest in someone else's passion. Mimicking movements: Taking on movements of another to convey shared experiences, like smiling, nodding, or arm crossing. At Medical News Today, Zawn Villines gives us some insight on People pleasers: What it means and how to stop On the School of Life's YouTube Channel, I found How to Stop Being a People Pleaser CHALLENGE: Be intentional with your own emotional shape-shifting – adapt to others when it feels right, but never at the cost of your true feelings and needs. Stay flexible and empathetic, yes, but also fiercely protective of your authenticity and personal boundaries. I Know YOU Can Do It!

In this episode, Hunter chats with Courtney Doctor to begin our new series, Displaying the Gospel through Discipleship. One way we display the gospel and live on mission is through our discipling relationships. Yet, so many of us are intimidated by Christ's command to go and make disciples. In this series, we will grow in our understanding of discipleship and how we can practically go about doing it. Over the past two years, Courtney and Hunter have been working on a verse-by-verse Bible study on the book of Titus entitled Titus: Displaying the Gospel of Grace. Many of us are familiar with the classic Titus 2 passage on discipling, but through this entire series, we hope to highlight the beauty of intergenerational relationships in the church and what it actually looks like to display the gospel through those relationships. In this episode, they're talking about what discipleship is—whether formal or informal—what discipleship has looked like in their lives personally, and what Scripture says should be at the heart of it all. Courtney Doctor received an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary and currently serves as the Director of Women's Initiatives for The Gospel Coalition. FULL SHOW NOTES DISCUSSION QUESTIONS How do you define discipleship? How has discipleship played a role in your life? What are the things to “insist on” in a discipleship relationship? What could formal or informal discipleship look like in your life right now? Who is someone (older or younger) who you could ask about beginning a formal discipleship relationship together? What might you do or implement based on what you learned in this week's episode? DOUBLE TROUBLE: CINDY LAUPER AND MILEY CYRUSTwo towering, Olympian female voices, from different generations, aligning here to honestly testify about their love damaged hearts. They describe world's of hurt, confusion, and finally, triumph in the face of loss. Miley Cyrus “Heart of Glass”I love Miley Cyrus - not only because she carries the flag of peace, love, and musical tradition with her Happy Hippie Foundation, and, at the same time, continues to reinvent herself and confound expectations, but because she's one of the most captivating singers America has ever produced. Here she isn't channelling Debbie Harry's Blondie anthem, so much as honoring the past, and goosing the disco chestnut with rock n roll hydrogen. Displaying the vocal power of a roaring jet plane, Miley conveys a super sonic vibration alongside the mournful cry of an injured wolf. Before I ever saw her, I auditioned for her Disney show, Hannah Montana. I'm glad I didn't get that job, because the Miley that I was finally introduced to was not a preternaturally talented moppet, but it was The Wrecking Ball, the Can't Stop Won't Stop girl - the irresistible force for all that's forward looking in this society, and at the same time Dolly Parton's God daughter. What a combo!Cyndi Lauper “I'm Gonna Be Strong”When Cyndi Lauper emerged from the depths of Queens (my home ground), wearing orange hair and thrift store swag, singing about how Girls just wanna have fun, and mugging on MTV besides Captain Lou Albano, the wrestler, I loved her kookiness, but I was sure that she was not gonna be around that long. Boy, was I wrong. She demonstrated her amazing writing and vocal chops in all genres, spoke her mind faithfully about human rights, and in short order became a feminist icon. She has even scored big as a Broadway composer with the sensational Kinky Boots. For over 40 years she has dominated our national consciousness, and this year, as she makes what she claims is her farewell tour, she continues to represent unwavering notions of integrity, self-respect, and professionalism with undeniable power. Here she is reviving the 1964, Gene Pitney hit composed by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, with a gut wrenching, operatic dynamism that leaves me speechless.

Through my internship, I was able to get a glimpse of a variety of those different descriptions and see the different parts that make up TeachBeyond.” “Knowing that I don't have to do it on my own and that the Lord has prepared the way and He has prepared me and equipped me with all that I need to be able to do that, that was so encouraging to hear.” “Pursue whatever the Lord is placing on your heart and continue to walk through those doors that the Lord has opened for you, and just trust that His plan is great.” “It can be so easy to want to stay in your own comfort zone, but it's in those moments when we're out of our comfort zones that we experience the most growth.” “Being part of something bigger than myself and knowing that the Lord can use me to help transform lives and communities around the world is just such an exciting thing.” “My generation has a great access to understanding and wanting to learn more about people who are different than ourselves, and I think that's something that we can really bring to the mission field.” What's changing our lives: Heather: Creating stickers on iMessage Chloe: Time with family and friends over the holidays Weekly Spotlight: Internships with TeachBeyond We'd love to hear from you! podcast@teachbeyond.org Podcast Website: https://teachbeyond.org/podcast Learn about TeachBeyond: https://teachbeyond.org/
Pastor Ray Bentley highlights biblical manhood. May I say that we live in a culture where there are very, very few men who are masculine, powerful, with authority to love and the Spirit of God. But we also have self control. How we need such men today, how they will shine out like stars in the midst of the chaos, the darkness and all the confusion that is going about us spreading.
What if a divine opportunity came your way—a moment so profound, so life-changing, that you knew it was God calling you to step out in faith? Would you hesitate, counting the cost, or would you seize the moment with all your heart? This is the question God places before each of us. His Spirit invites us to let go of what we know and take hold of something far greater: His supernatural, abundant life.We live in a time of extraordinary opportunity. God's Spirit is moving in unprecedented ways—on campuses, in workplaces, and through ordinary people stepping out in faith. The challenge for us is: Will we cling to comfort, or will we seize the train God is inviting us to board?Seize the Opportunity for Reaching: We Are in a Time of HarvestThe fields are ripe, and God is stirring His people to action.Seize the Opportunity for Revelation: We Are in a Time of HungerThere's a growing spiritual hunger for truth, both inside and outside the church.Seize the Opportunity for Resilience: We Are in a Time of RefreshingEven in trials, God is pouring out His Spirit, offering renewal and strength.Seize the Opportunity for Returning: We Are in a Time of RestoringThe church is being restored to its original design—a family united by love and mission.Seize the Opportunity for Reproducing: We Are in a Time of MultiplyingGod's work is multiplying as we focus on disciple-making and spiritual growth.Seize the Opportunity for Releasing: We Are in a Time of DisplayingThe church is stepping into a season of vibrant, authentic faith that reflects God's glory.Seize the Opportunity for Radiance: We Are in a Time of RefiningGod is preparing His people to shine brighter than ever.Seize the Opportunity for Rejoicing: We Are in a Time of FavorThis is a season to celebrate the extravagant love of the Father. As you stand at the threshold, remember: His Spirit empowers you to step into the abundant life He's promised. Open your hands to release what holds you back, and take hold of the life-changing invitation before you. The conductor is calling—will you get on board?

Today, pastor Ray Bentley points out who the Lord is looking for in the church. The Lord needs godly elders, men that would be raised up. God honors age. God honors experience. God honors seasoning. God honors those who have gone through fires. Those who have, as it were, passed the test or been formed or shape spread. You see all of these people coming down before the King live your first Jesus is coming.

Part two of our week of ghosts is all about one spirit – this time, a poltergeist. People have been arguing over this one since the 1660s, including some prominent skeptics and supporters. How do you display your faith? What are the practical ways that you shine Jesus' love in the world? Does the presence of Jesus inform the words you say, or how you treat the people around you? Is Jesus so important to you, that you will even change how you drive? That may sound ridiculous, but these are the places where displaying our faith matters: this is what the intersection of faith and life is all about. SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: Displaying our Faith “Someone will say, ‘You have faith, I have works.' Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by what I do.” (James 2:18) Let me tell you a story. One Christmas my wife gave me a license plate surround. You know the kind. It's a plastic cover that fits over your license plate. They usually have stickers or phrases on it. It's a way to personalize your license plate without having a vanity plate. Well, I opened this present and found a license plate surround containing big white letters that read: “CLERGY”, A cross was on either side. And I must admit, my first thought was “oh dear.” See, now, I can't drive like a maniac. I can't yell at people, blast my horn, or shake my fist whenever someone cuts me off. I can't weave in and out of traffic or rush through yellow lights. Now, I am no longer an anonymous driver on the road. Now, everyone knows that I am a priest – and they will judge my driving based upon what they read on my license plate. So, I sat there for a second, holding this present, wondering if I really wanted to have this gift. Did I really want to put this on my car and make my faith so public? That's the point, isn't it? People should know that we follow Jesus. The presence of Jesus, our reliance upon his Spirit, our expressions of his love and care, these things should be visible in our lives. Which is why the exhortation from James is so important for us. The Book of James challenges us to think about how our connection with Jesus is lived out in our lives. James writes, what good is it brothers and siters if someone claims to have faith but no deeds? In other words, what good is it if our relationship with Jesus is just a matter of religious phrases we say in special services? Can such a faith save us? Show me faith, James says; display your faith by how you live. We sometimes make an unfair distinction between faith and works. We are quick to quote Paul's words in Ephesians 2 “We are saved by grace through faith, so that no-one can boast.” Paul seems to suggest that our deeds do not matter. We are saved by grace alone, as a gift from Jesus. So, to focus on righteous deeds (we think) is nothing but work-based righteousness. James, on the other hand, is perceived to be saying that it doesn't matter what you believe, it is only our deeds that count towards salvation. If we are kind and generous, polite and affable, we can be spiritually confident. And so, we pit the words of Paul against the words of James. Both readings, when understood in such stark contrast, betray the truth of scripture. Paul and James must go together. Even for Paul, a faith that is not lived out is a faith that fails to be alive or transformative. This is why his letters are filled with a myriad of practical instructions for believers. On the other side, James' whole point is that it is our faith in Jesus that is lived out in practical ways. James says, “I will show you my faith by what I do.” For James, it's not some generic politeness that is lived out, it is the one's relationship with our Lord. There simply must be a connection between our faith, and our life. Intersecting Faith and Life. Faith can't just be something we say. It's not enough to rest upon private thoughts and prayers in the comfort of our prayer closets. My old youth group leader used to always ask “if being a Christian was illegal is there enough evidence to convict you?” The love of Jesus, received in faith, is to transform our lives. We live it out, not to prove our love, or earn the Lord's favor, but as a natural byproduct of a life-giving connection with Jesus. Of course, we are never going to be perfect at this. There's going to be hiccups along the way. If we read the book of James as advocating for some sort of perfect execution of moral or spiritual life, then all we are going to do is heap condemnation upon ourselves. None of us are perfect, and none of us will live out our faith perfectly every single moment of our lives. But the moments when we don't live our faith perfectly never discount the heartfelt desire to do so. What is more, James reminds us that in the times of failure or flaw, we can rest in the promise that God's mercy will always have the final word. As we progress in life and increase in knowledge, we tend to become puffed up. Displaying humility is the ultimate show of strength. It takes a great deal of power to stand down and submit. Christ lived a life of humility and in return asks that we do the same. It has a great reward if we are willing to give it a shot! Sermon: The Church - Displaying the Glory of the Trinitarian GodSeries: The ChurchSpeaker: Pastor Tom WilsonText: Ephesians 1:1-14Date: September 15, 2024...
Presented by Lisa Bishop Does your faith make a difference in your job? Have you ever considered God has purposefully positioned you to proclaim the gospel at your workplace? Now before you picture yourself standing on your desk with a bullhorn or sitting on a Zoom call shouting scripture, don't worry, that's not what I mean. You aren't necessarily called to get out your megaphone and shout the gospel like a street preacher, but you are called to proclaim the gospel with your life. What does that look like? We will examine five ways to live our faith at work and to be on mission at our workplace. We tend to think of pastors, church staff, or men and women who get sent to foreign countries as missionaries. But have you ever considered your workplace as the place God has placed you to be on mission? Well, the truth is, God has placed you at your job for a purpose, and whether he has you there for 12 months or 10 years, how will you live with a heavenly perspective? As a follower of Jesus, everything we do is for the glory of God, and when we live on mission, we live on purpose for the purposes of God. One way to live on mission in the workplace is by checking our attitudes and minding our disposition. What is your mood at work? How would your coworkers describe your temperament? Are you easily angered, argumentative, impatient, or dismissive of people who disagree with you? Divisive with your words or demeaning with your tone? Or are you approachable, personable, and peaceable? Do you give other people credit instead of keeping it for yourself? Your behavior with your coworkers will be the litmus test to your credibility as a follower of Jesus. I was having lunch with a woman the other day and asked her how she was doing. She proceeded to tell me how she'd fallen into some poor behavior habits at work. Displaying impatience, irritation, and getting sucked into gossip circles; at times, she was the instigator of dragging down people's character with her words. She knows she is not putting God on display when she behaves that way. If you take an honest inventory of your personality at work, do you point to Jesus? I am not saying we will perfectly represent God; we are human after all. But do we purpose our interactions at work to point to him? But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23). When the power of the Holy Spirit is evident in our lives, we are a credible witness to our coworkers. We live on mission and proclaim the gospel with our lives when we behave in a way that produces good fruit.

Episode #205: If you use PowerPoint, having a base understanding of font file types and options is important. A new whitepaper by Microsoft MVP for PowerPoint Julie Terberg, titled "Choosing fonts for PowerPoint templates" is a (free!) great resource. Displaying letters, numbers, and symbols takes layers of complex behind-the-scenes code. And if a non-Microsoft font is used, the complexity becomes more complex - and if the non-Microsoft fonts are not available on that computer, or not recognized on that computer, the slide design can go to $#@!. On this episode Troy, Nolan, and Sandy enjoy time conversing with Julie Terberg about fonts in PowerPoint presentations.
