Pat Muldowney is owner of the legendary music venue “The Joiners”. Joiners has had acts like Green Day, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Arctic Monkeys grace its 250 cap room. The venue is arguably one of the most iconic and legendary rooms in the U.K. that’s been around for more than 50 years and for me, represents how important smaller venues are to the community. Pats parents are from Laois and Kildare and we sat down for a chat in his living room in Southampton. I met Pat first when I played the joiners supporting Seán McGowan and I’ve been back a few times since. Pádraic Ó Griallais, is a 6th generation poitín distiller from Connemara. His family have been producing poitín on the shores of Galway Bay for over 170 years and a number of years ago Pádraic set up the first licenced distillery in Galway in over 100 years to legally produce and sell his families' highly regarded potion.
