Posle -59 u duplom kolu EL, dobili smo novog trenera i novog PG. Tužan završetak fudbalske sezone u Loznici i "jesenja titula" ekipe u koju malo ko, pored Gogeca, veruje. On Halloween this year Music For Nations released the latest album by Witch Fever called 'Fevereaten'. A record so dark, heavy and moving that it demands repeated listenings. On November 4th 2022 Blumhouse released the latest movie by Beth de Araújo called 'Soft and Quiet'. A film so dark, heavy and moving that it demands repeated viewings. This is what happens when those two forces of nature collide.Music For Nations Witch Fever

This week we're discussing every album by post-hardcore band Jawbox. Formed in Washington DC and opening up for bands like Fugazi, Jawbox--along with Shudder to Think--were one of the Dischord bands signed to a major label in the early 90s. Going back to all of their records today, it's safe to say Jawbox is one of the more criminally underrated bands of the 90s. An all-time favorite artist sits for an all-time favorite interview! Bon Iver's Justin Vernon is my guest in this episode of the LSQ podcast — the final episode of 2025 and season 8 of the show. We recorded this at his home studio back in June, shortly after the release of Bon Iver's brilliant latest album, SABLE, fABLE, which recently earned him another couple well-deserved Grammy nominations. I loved this conversation so much, and I'm so grateful to Justin for his openness in a talk that explores his entire history as a creative person and music maker. Justin and I go back a ways and have done shorter interviews over the years. But this gave us a chance to go super in-depth, and I loved hearing stories about his early life and definitive creative experiences — about listening to John Prine's “Hello in There,” on his Discman in the back of his my parents' minivan and realizing music was his calling, about discovering music he loved by Fugazi, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the Dave Matthews Band, and Baaba Maal, about his dad driving him and his friends from Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Minneapolis to see Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden, about the deep camaraderie of his high school band with friends he still collaborates with today, and the vital growth that came from moving the band to Raleigh, North Carolina when he was in his twenties. Oh, and you've also gotta hear the story about Prince coming to a Gayngs show at First Avenue, and nearly joining the band onstage.
“You don't have to take this crap. You don't have to sit back and relax. You can actually try changing it.” (Thank you, Paul Weller.) Tune in and maybe the walls will come tumbling down. We've got a special Veterans Week treat for this episode as Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff) welcomes back legendary artist, activist, and punk rock icon Henry Rollins for a fiercely honest conversation about division in America, the state of democracy, and the enduring need for vigilance. From stories of Rollins's global travels to his reflections on what it truly means to be punk—and patriotic—in 2025, you'll get an unfiltered look into his mindset, leadership, and hard-earned lessons from decades on the front lines of culture and activism. They tackle everything from current headlines to personal discipline, empathy, and standing up to extremism. Rieckhoff and Rollins dissect Trump, Fetterman, Venezuela, and how music, community, and the spirit of inclusion can battle America's most toxic divisions. Whether you're a first-time listener or a devoted fan, this is a masterclass in punk rock citizenship and independent values. Because every episode of Independent Americans with Paul Rieckhoff breaks down the most important news stories--and offers light to contrast the heat of other politics and news shows. New episode of Creatives on WRFI, Youth Radio Project volunteers Eli and Will have a conversation with Brendan Canty, long time drummer of fiercely independent post-hardcore band Fugazi.Along with Ian McKaye, Guy Piciatto, and Joe Lally, Brendan and Fugazi helped define the sound of indie rock in the 1990's. After releasing six albums and relentlessly touring (all the while, doing everything in their power to not ever charge more than $5 to see them live), Fugazi went on indefinite hiatus in 2003. Brendan has continued performing and is currently part of the jazz fusion band, The Messthetics, along with Fugazi bandmate Joe Lally. This CREATIVES interview with Brendan Canty hosted by the Youth Radio Project aired on Wednesday November 5 at 5pm and Sunday November 9 2025 at 3pm. Le 4 novembre, Marjorie Hache propose une RTL2 Pop-Rock Station percutante, entre énergie brute et curiosité sonore. L'émission s'ouvre avec The Charlatans et leur titre "Deeper and Deeper", issu du nouvel album "We Are Love". Suivent The B-52's, David Bowie pour l'anniversaire de "The Man Who Sold The World", et The Trashmen avec le classique "Surfin' Bird". Les moments forts s'enchaînent : Nine Inch Nails livre "As Alive As You Need Me To Be", extrait de la bande originale du film "Tron Ares", avant Florence + The Machine et "Buckle", coécrit avec Mitski. In which The Curmudgeons honor one of the fiercest--and most fiercely independent--rock bands of all time. Fugazi erupted from the Washington, D.C., punk scene in the late 1980s. They fashioned a brand of passionate, politically charged post-hardcore music that deftly weaved two guitars with a dub reggae-inspired rhythm section. Beyond the music, the band was known for an uncompromising vision: the music stayed with the people for good. No major labels. No ticket prices more than ten bucks. No radio singles. No videos. No age restrictions on their audience. Fugazi exerted control, which together with their awesome music, made them thrilling. We meditate on it all during this episode. The Fanzine Podcast is back after an unintentionally long absence to talk with Howard Wuelfing, editor/publisher of two key Washington D.C. zines, which have just been gathered into an eponymous anthology: Descenes and Discords. These influential zines, the first focused on local activities, its successor intended to gather additional material about the national alternative/underground scene, ran between 1979 and 1981 and served not only to influence and impact upon music in D.C., but provided publication space for a number of writers who would go on to national prominence, among them Gerard Cosloy and Byron Coley. In this episode, Howard discusses abandoning plans to become a lawyer to focus on becoming a rock writer instead, how exposure to CBGB's but especially the publication New York Rocker set him and his partners on their way with Descenes, how they were able to access typesetting, advertising and printing, and their successful game plan for distribution, but how the careerism of local “new wave” bands caused the team to pack it in after six issues. Embarking eight months later with Discords, the new look monthly zine had a winning run of cover artists (from Pylon to Circle Jerks to The Bongos and Mission Of Burma) and provided space and encouragement for the younger generation of hardcore bands who would soon step into the space Discords helped create. Accordingly, Ian MacKaye of Teen Idols, Minor Threat, Fugazi and Dischord (no relation) Records, was interviewed by Howard for a special reflection article that opens the new anthology.Descenes and Discords: An Anthology is available from DiWulf.com in the Americas, and EarthIslandBooks.com in Europe. Jeffrey Epstein's so-called charity was a parody of philanthropy—a glossy storefront for laundering money, buying influence, and disguising the true scope of his criminal enterprise. On paper, the foundation claimed to support science, education, and global causes. In reality, the filings showed paltry amounts actually going to legitimate charities while large sums flowed into projects that padded Epstein's image or circled back into his own network. It was the classic predator's playbook: slap a humanitarian label on the operation, and suddenly hedge fund cash, foreign transfers, and murky “donations” could move around under the guise of benevolence. The real sickness was how the law enabled it. Charitable foundations enjoy enormous tax advantages and face laughably weak oversight. Epstein exploited this loophole masterfully, using his “philanthropy” not only to launder funds but to open doors into elite academic and scientific institutions that gave him legitimacy. Universities and research centers took his money, looked the other way, and in return gave him access to some of the brightest young minds he could exploit. The so-called charity wasn't charity at all—it was a financial and social laundering machine, perfectly legal on the surface yet utterly corrupt in function.(commercial at 11:58)To contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/26/business/jeffrey-epstein-charity.html
Keith sits down with Jason Farrell to discuss the internal drive to constantly be working, discovering hardcore and punk music through skateboarding in DC in the late 80's, the scene at the time, witnessing the rise of bands like Fugazi, Rites of Spring, and Dag Nasty, the formation of Swiz, the history of the band and their initial breakup. We also discuss the formation and history of Bluetip, signing with Dischord records, their tours with At the Drive In, the end of Bluetip, Jason's move to NYC and the formation of Retisonic, the Swiz reunion and their recent shows, their soon to be released band book "Swiz" and more.

Swiz (Akashic Books, 2025). Swiz was a Washington DC hardcore punk band that existed from April of 1987 through August of 1990, cutting their teeth and carving their place in the scene that birthed trailblazers and contemporaries like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Dag Nasty, Fugazi, Ian MacKaye, Dave Grohl, and Henry Rollins. Featuring original Dag Nasty singer Shawn Brown, Swiz's faster, darker, and more aggressive take on the D.C. sound ran counter to the melodic, experimental, and poppy direction the scene had been leaning toward in the years before Nirvana broke the underground. In the thirty-five years since their demise, Swiz's popularity and infamy have only grown. This first in-depth look into the band is timed perfectly to coincide with the 2025 release of their remastered musical catalog by Dischord Records. The volume is penned by all of the band members, combining historical interviews and personal journals, with present-day conversations, anecdotes, recollections, and reflections yielding new poetry and prose. The writing is complemented by over one hundred unpublished images. This mix of styles touches on band facts and timelines while also spotlighting the negative space around the band: personal and interpersonal moments of its members and the broader community and culture in which they were immersed. Swiz is a deep dive into the band and its members, a celebration of warped memory, and a unique snapshot of a time and scene that continues to inspire musicians, artists, and fans alike.
