Erik Denno and brothers James Wall and John Wall discuss their work together in Kerosene 454 and the Solid Brass reissue of their second album, Came By To Kill Me, the band's history, the roads that brought them from Arizona to D.C. to California, getting into punk rock, touring with Hoover and filming some of their sets, the connection between their album art and the film The Crow, how they relate to the music and lyrics they created decades ago, whether they might play together again, other future plans, and much more.EVERY OTHER COMPLETE KREATIVE KONTROL EPISODE IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE TO MONTHLY $6 USD PATREON SUPPORTERS. That slick hook and spot-on beat playing over the PA in Target, at Cumberland Farms, in the venue before the headliner takes the stage: WHO IS THAT? WHAT'S THAT SONG?We all have the Shazam app loaded on our phones, and it's wild to think that for more than half our lives (speaking for the Diarists), we did without it. Here are four songs Bob, Brad, Mark, and Carla dialed up over Shazam. Reach out to us with some of your own discoveries on Twitter and Insta.Find the Playlist on Spotify + Apple Music. On this Wednesday edition of Sid & Friends in the Morning, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is just embarrassing himself at this point with his blatant flip-flop regarding his relationship with Donald Trump and how he feels about the President. He continues to sound like the most fair-weather friend of the President, and New Yorkers deserve more than a fugazi running our city. In other news of the day, Bill Maher says the nursing home COVID scandal will be the reason Andrew Cuomo won't win the Mayoralty, congestion pricing will live to see at least a few more months in New York City, the Trump administration cancels millions in grants to NYC due to the illegal migrant crisis, and the President issues a new 104% tariff on stubborn China. Jennifer Harrison, Brian Kilmeade, Bellamy Bellucci, John Chell, Miranda Devine and Anthony D'Esposito join Sid on this hump day installment of Sid & Friends in the Morning. On April 12, 2007, I had two phone calls with Patti Smith for a print piece about both her then-new album, Twelve, which features her interpretations of songs by other artists, and her life and work. We were originally only meant to speak once but, after a publicist cut us off after 25 minutes, Patti told me she found my questions thoughtful, asked for my phone number, and promised to call me later that night to talk further, after she was done the press junket she was on. Roughly four hours later, she called me back and we spoke for another 35 minutes. I still marvel at this kindness and respect she displayed to me, a young, green journalist she felt some connection with. We were both ailing with a stubborn, recurring cough and cold that day, which we commiserated over, but we also talked about Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan, how Donald Trump and other real estate developers were ruining New York City, Robert Mapplethorpe's role in her work, gravitating to male musicians, losing her husband Fred “Sonic” Smith and balancing work and raising a family, what the future held, and more.To To hear this entire 60 minute conversation, subscribe to Kreative Kontrol on Patreon at the $6 tier or higher (a reminder that an annual subscription includes a discount compared to a monthly one).Related episodes/links:Ep. #900: Fugazi and Jem CohenEp. #739: Isla CraigEp. #455: FIDLAREp. #314: SaltlandEp. #264: Choir! Fools Fest is KCSU's annual punk festival, always set to happen around April Fools Day! Every year, KCSU gathers local punk and punk-adjacent bands to play on Colorado State University's campus, creating a unique and exciting event for all to enjoy. KCSU's music directors, Mia Templien and Ria Janapati, had the opportunity to sit down with a few of the bands performing for some in-depth interviews.Slag got their name from an unhoused man repeating the word "slag" as he walked by Clay Childress at The Atrium; after having a conversation with him, Childress decided it was fate. This spacey/shoe gaze/noise rock/indie band consists of twins Clay and Coleman. Childress, Caleb Shaver, and Andrew Jussila. Much of their inspiration comes from the DIY scene, with bands like Duster, Fugazi, and Built To Spill being some of their favorites. Slag's next show will be at the FoCoMX music festival at the Art Lab at 8pm on 4/19.

For the third, and final, episode where The Ledge attempts to fix the godawful errors of The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame we handle the overlooked bands of the 90’s. Along with the usual punk and indie rock bands of that time, there’s also a couple of sets devoted to the Americana sub-genre that rose in popularity during that time. Again, just think of how much fun a ceremony would be that included the likes of the Supersuckers, Steve Earle, Rocket From the Crypt, Fugazi, Superchunk, and so many other greats. Maybe an Uncle Tupelo reunion could be negotiated after an all star jam under the Golden Smog name. Billy Childish could possibly jam with Reverend Horton Heat and Archers of Loaf! Oh that would be a show I wouldn’t miss! I also start the show with a lengthy discussion about my friend Monica Kindt, who tragically passed away earlier this week. She was my manager at two different record stores over the years, and was a person who endured many of my childish rants over the years. My thoughts go to her family and all of us friends who miss her so much. She would have loved my […]

One of the most important aspects when talking about Jeffrey Epstein and the crimes committed by his criminal enterprise is the financial angle. For all of the platitudes we have heard from the investigators, we have still yet to see a real, robust investigation into the financial aspect of the case. Nothing personifies that like his corrupt charities. On this episode, we explore some of those charities and how they were manipulated and used to help shield Epstein and his activities.(commercial at 11:58)To contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/26/business/jeffrey-epstein-charity.html

This week we tackle the impressively experimental fifth studio album of one of the most important and most fiercely independent bands in American history.
For the eightieth episode of "Hot Takes", we were honored to be graced by the presence of Vitesse X. With a background in cross country skiing, track, and field and having played live in shoegaze and punk rock bands, independent electronic artist and label owner Vitesse X told us her stories and divulged some intensely personal and edifying advice about being sincere with your art. Lots of talk about acts like Fugazi, Paul McCartney, and The Orb, advice on how to sell yourself and get work in New York City performance spaces, and a comical series of takes about cut-and-paste color-by-number breakbeat music were the highlights of our two hours with the incredibly skilled, profoundly personable Vitesse X! You heard it on "Hot Takes"! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Join the conversation at https://linktr.ee/hottakesvapor

This week, we start a new series all about appreciating the shredded, gravelly, gritty, raspy pipes and throats of rock n' roll. We are focusing on lead singers who crafted truly special tones with their sandpapered delivery. Join us in celebrating these unique sets of pipes that set them apart from all the others. Anyone can scream, but only a few deliver gravel, grit & glory! What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Our appreciation, this week, of rough and textured singing extends to all of the genres that we love. Kevin never realized how much this style of vocalizing had an impact on him until putting this whole thing together. As always, we hope we turn you onto something new!Songs this week include:Metal Church – “Ton Of Bricks” from The Dark (1986)Hot Water Music – “Trademark” from Fuel For The Hate Game (1997)Love/Hate – “Blackout In The Red Room” from Blackout In The Red Room (1990)The Baboon Show – “Gold” from God Bless You All (2022)Grave Digger – “Hymn Of The Damned” from The Living Dead (2018)The Distillers – “Die On A Rope” from Coral Fang (2003)Asomvel – “Born To Rock ‘n' Roll” from Born To Rock ‘n' Roll(2024)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/inobscuria/og-shopCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

On this week's episode, the guys embark on an engaging discussion that delves into the intriguing origins of how The Arizona Beverage Company acquired its unique and memorable name. They explore the history behind the brand, tracing its roots back to its founding and the cultural influences that shaped its identity, all while highlighting the company's rise to prominence in the beverage industry. Following this insightful conversation, Cody brings up an exciting and somewhat mysterious phenomenon that has recently emerged within the film industry—some movie studios have begun to drop full-length movies directly onto YouTube. This unexpected trend raises questions about distribution methods, audience engagement, and the evolving landscape of film consumption in the digital age. As the episode progresses, the conversation shifts gears to a comprehensive one-year review of the Apple Vision Pro, a cutting-edge piece of technology that has garnered significant attention since its release. Joe shares his thoughts on the device's features, performance, and overall impact on the market, providing listeners with a detailed analysis of its strengths and weaknesses. In the latter part of the episode, Joe excitedly recounts his recent decision to sign up for Dropout TV, a subscription service known for its innovative and entertaining content. He discusses the plethora of new episodes available from some of their most beloved shows, highlighting what viewers can expect and why it's worth tuning in. To wrap things up, Cody offers some thoughtful music recommendations after reflecting on the influential post-hardcore band Fugazi, discussing their impact on the music scene and why their work continues to resonate with fans today. This segment not only showcases Cody's passion for music but also serves as a reminder of the lasting legacy that certain bands can have on both listeners and the industry as a whole.Official Website: https://www.comesnaturallypodcast.comOfficial Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/comes-naturally-podcast/iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/kqkgackFacebook: http://tinyurl.com/myovgm8Tumblr: http://tinyurl.com/m7a6mg9Twitter: @ComesNaturalPodYouTube: http://tiny.cc/5snxpy

"Run With Me" The Ontario-born Bry Webb formed the underground outfit The Constantines out of the ashes of the emo band Shoulder in 1999. With their jagged guitars, tribal drums, snarling bass lines and Webb's ferocious vocals along with his poetic lyrics, The Guelph-based Constantines were one of those rare bands that seemed to arrive fully formed. From 2004 to 2008, the Juno-award nominated Constantines put out four brilliant albums--their eponymous debut, Shine A Light, Tournament Of Hearts and Kensington Heights. And there's not a false note to be found anywhere--the syncopated rhythms, musical intensity and the sheer muscle and heart that powered every song brought to mind everyone from Fugazi to the Minutemen to The Replacements. This is a partial list of their highlights; they toured with The Tragically Hip and The Weakerthans, were signed to Sub Pop, played Lollapallooza, the Vancouver Olympics and a gig at the legendary Massey Hall. With the band on hiatus, Webb formed a band called The Harborcoats and put out three brilliant solo albums--Free Will, Provider and Run With Me. Redolent with raw intimacy, sensitivity, and poetic grace, Webb's solo work rings with as much conviction as his work with The Constantines. He's been nominated for a Genie Award, he contributed a track to This American Life and he sang back-up on Feist's album Metals. I can't say enough about this guy--he's a towering force and whether he's belting out anthems or staying low in the pocket to deliver some of the most stirring acoustic numbers you've ever heard, Bry Webb is a giant talent who is one of my all-time favorites. His body of work means everything to me and his presence on this show is nothing short of humbling. And he's one of the nicest dudes ever. www.brywebb.com (http://www.brywebb.com) www.brywebb.bandcamp.com www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com (http://www.stereoembersmagazine.com) www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers IG: @emberspodcast Bluesky: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

On this episode, we explore some of those charities and how they were manipulated and used to help shield Epstein and his activities.(commercial at 11:58)To contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/26/business/jeffrey-epstein-charity.htmlBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

This is the free half of a full talk which can be obtained by subscribing to JaysAnalysis at the Paypal links at the site. Musician and researcher John Adams joins me to divulge new details in relation to his series with researcher Nino on the secret history of punk music. Arising from the psychedelic genre and the 60s counter-culture (so-called) movements, punk became an iconic sub-genre that would have a tremendous impact on "youth culture" through the 70s, 80s, 90s and into today. The real question, however, is whether there is a deeper occult agenda to punk music, as well as a social engineering aspect to this "scene." We explore these questions, as well as topics such as: Henry Rollins, Riot Girl, feminism, GG Allin, Iggy Pop, situationism, Fugazi, The Sex Pistols and "spectacle," performance art, deep state connections, Genesis P-Orridge and transgender agendas, the Stone Roses, Lou Reed and Blavatsky, The KLF and the rise of electronica, Discordianism, techno and rave culture, and the power of pop culture to mind control mass populations.
