Hailing from the Causeway Coast, Good Friend is Adam Carroll (lead vocals and bass), Izzy Curran (drums), and Andy Reid (lead guitar). These three Irish lads originally come from around Belfast/Northern Ireland but they moved to Newcastle, England to get shitty jobs and form a band. The jobs did indeed turn out to be shitty, but the band turned out great! 'We've always described our sound as Punk Rock salted by The Irish Sea. Melodic and ferocious.' The band are signed to Red Scare Industries (US) and Gunner Records (EU) and have toured the world and played with bands like MakeWar, Guerilla Poubelle & Red City Radio. Good Friend played support to The Menzingers on the 16th of April at Button Factory Dublin, where Letty interviewed Adam and Izzy of the band. Having formed less than a year ago, Boston's Massive Nightmares is already on their way to making waves in the independent music scene. On September 6th, 2024, the band will released their debut EP, recorded with Trevor Reilly of A Wilhelm Scream fame. The result is a self-released five track EP that serves as an amazing introduction to the band. An appetizer, if you will.Formed by members of bands like No Trigger, Great Lakes USA, Save Ends, and David New Joy, Massive Nightmares comes from amazing stock. The music delivers a definite power pop and alternative meets 2000s melodic punk vibe. Think Lemonheads and The Menzingers meet Gaslight Anthem and The Bronx. Thanks for listening!!! The Menzingers' albums are storied time capsules. Starting in 2007 with teen angst and rebellion, they've refined and reshaped their narratives into self-reflective numbers that continue to balance melody and might. Their most-recent installment—2023's Some of It Was True—was their eighth chapter that stares down aging with acceptance rather than anger. But don't get it twisted, these rockers will still charge.“This record just feels different for us,” Barnett explains. “It's a really important one in our catalog, and a pivotal moment in our history. We have the liberty of our fans growing with us now, and after writing these lyrical songs about where we are in life, we decided to take other peoples' stories and make something bigger out of it.” “It brought us back to our energetic side as a band,” May concurs. “We got to let loose, which is what drew us to the energy of being in a band in the first place. This is a live band—why shouldn't we record live songs? As a result, we're back to why we started this band in the first place.”In support of Some of It Was True, the Philly crew toured the States and touched down in Nashville mid-November for a romper at the Marathon Music Works. Before their headlining set in Music City, both singing-guitarists Greg Barnett and Tom May welcomed PG's Perry Bean onstage to converse about their setups. Barnett explained the pros and cons of being a left-handed player, while May divulged the inspiration for his loved Les Pauls. Both detailed why they prefer a two-amp rig, and each demoed the various sounds set off from their respective pedalboards.Brought to you by D'Addario:https://ddar.io/wykyk-rrhttps://www.daddario.com/XPNDRR

We realize we haven't put out a new main feed episode in a month (the longest gap in Endless Scroll history!) and we apologize for that!  But guess what? We're back. We have bunch of awesome new episodes recorded throughout July that we'll be doling out over the next few weeks, so you'll be getting more new Endless Scroll content than ever in August. Starting with this episode.  In this one, Michael, Miranda and Eli talk about new music from Loma Prieta, The Menzingers, MJ Lenderman, Taking Meds and more. While it's an undeniable fact that most musicians have ska roots, Tom May of The Menzingers has an entire, elaborate ska past. Before forming The Menzingers in 2006, Tom spent a solid 4 years playing in the Scranton, Pennsylvania ska band Bob and the Sagets. During the early 2000s, Bob and the Sagets (and another band, Lester) were the big local ska bands in Scranton. Tom speaks to us this week about Bob and the Sagets. We talk about the Scranton scene, including venues like Cafe Del Sol and Sessions Skatepark, as well as other prominent bands from the scene (Including Tigers Jaw!). But we also discuss The Menzingers and search for signs of ska, which includes a cover of The Specials' "Gangsters" they used to do, an old song called "Dark Side Of The Poon," and Tom joining Worriers on stage to play ska guitar for their cover of Rancid's "Old Friend." We also talk about playing with ska/reggae producer Curtis Irie (ie Irie Idea), how Against Me influenced The Menzingers' sound, touring with Jeff Rosenstock, meeting Brendan Kelly for the first time at Fest, his feelings on The Hard Times' Menzingers articles and getting to see Catbite for the first semi-recently. Plus he talks about some of the most amazing DIY shows he's seen back in the day, including Frank Turner, Gaslight Anthem and Paint It Black. And, as a special treat, Tom explains to us what the Receipt Scam is!  Support the show

WIZO played their first show way back in 1987 and released their first EP in 1990. They've went on to become Germany's second biggest all-time punk band (second only to arena rockers Die Toten Hosen) and have played everywhere from squats to stadiums. Although some of their lyrical content is lighthearted and even comical, WIZO is a band that has a very strong anti-racist/anti-fascist message. Their outspoken liberal politics have caused plenty of scandals and captured national headlines as well as coverage from European TV networks. So much controversy surrounds this band that they've been investigated several times and censored by the German authorities.  Unlike most punk bands, WIZO is very open to outside musical influences and embrace their eclectic sound. A fine example is their cover of Ace of Base's ‘All That She Wants', which became a chart-topping hit in numerous European countries. In the early 90's WIZO played a show with the illustrious NOFX and first caught the attention of Fat Mike. After the NOFX frontman witnessed the unpredictable and entertaining live show that WIZO put on, he knew the German trio could be adored and appreciated outside their homeland's borders. And boy was he right, WIZO have went on to become an international favorite and boast record sales of over 500,000! All independently and without the help of those slimy major labels. I was picking my brain of some obscure Fat bands to interview and Wizo popped into my head. So I message Axel, asked him to come on the show, he said “Sure, thanks for asking”. I got him on the Skype and this is what we chat about.
