THE SWIMMER (1968) We dive deep in to The Swimmer and discuss and analyze, maybe just a little bit the glorious film directed by Frank Perry, based on a screenplay by Eleanor Perry, from the 12 page short story by John Cheever. "Well-off ad man Ned Merrill (Burt Lancaster) is visiting a friend when he notices the abundance of backyard pools that populate their upscale suburb. Ned suddenly decides that he'd like to travel the eight miles back to his own home by simply swimming across every pool in town."If you're reading this I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. One nil to the Arsenal in the North London Derby as Ange Postecoglou's Ultra attacking Tottenham came up short against Mikel Arteta's defensively air tight (yes that's right) Arsenal. Despite it not being the only problem for Tottenham, losing by one goal from another set piece mad Postecoglou look at best naive and at worst stubborn. Despite all this Tottenham Hotspur can look forward to GUARANTEED  silverware in their second season with Ange Postecoglou. All eyes on the upcoming Carabao Cup third round draw.We talk about the latest  Everton collapse on the pitch as well as a more than likely offield collapse of a potential takeover from another group of American billionaires. Everton fans might be hopeful that playboy and enterainer John Textor may not bother looking closely  at the everton books, but savvy business mogul and part owner of the Brooklyn Nets, Jay Z, will surely do his due diligence.Arne Slot saw his first loss of the season and Liverpool's first loss to Nottingham Forest since the 1960s. Tune in to The Irish Podcast as Jane and Cormac navigate a bed bug infestation, offering both a cautionary tale and practical advice for anyone facing similar challenges. In this gripping episode, Jane and Cormac share how they initially discovered bed bugs, mistaking them for harmless critters until a closer examination revealed the truth. From finding them predominantly in one room of their apartment to setting up makeshift traps to monitor their activity, every detail of their discovery sends shivers down the spine. But the horrors didn't end there. Armed with newfound knowledge about the life cycle and habits of bedbugs, the couple embarked on their first extermination attempt. They spared no expense, throwing out bed frames, mattresses, and even wicker furniture, and calling in the highest-rated fumigator in Florence. However, as they soon discovered, battling bed bugs is no easy feat, and mistakes were made along the way. Learn from Jane and Cormac's missteps as they candidly discuss the errors they made during their de-infestation attempts, from moving their sleeping arrangements to underestimating the extent of the infestation. They share valuable insights into what needs to be thrown out and what could have been saved, providing listeners with crucial information and products for their own bed bug battles. This episode also deals with topics of mental health and PTSD. In the midst of their bedbug saga, Jane and Cormac endured two more exterminations, each one accompanied by a glimmer of hope that the nightmare would finally be over. However, as the weeks dragged on and the pests persisted, they began to entertain the idea of a drastic solution: moving. Through diligent investigation and communication with neighbours, they uncovered that the infestation was stemming from another area of the building entirely. Their journey serves as a stark reminder that sometimes, the true source of a problem may lie beyond what meets the eye, emphasising the importance of thoroughness and perseverance in overcoming adversity. We unleash the dead on this episode! We discuss the cult classic Raiders Of The Living Dead, a 1986 horror movie by (sort of) Samuel M. Sherman. Three different versions of this movie exist, and we talk about every single one of 'em on this episode! It's a horror history course, and it's almost time for class! Director Sam Sherman's company INDEPENDENT-INTERNATIONAL PICTURES CORP purchased an unfinished 80 minute film called DYING DAY from special FX artist Brett Piper, which was re-shot over and over and over until becoming RAIDERS OF THE LIVING DEAD. All three versions of the film are discussed on this episode, which has different versions itself! You can watch this episode in stunning DEATH-O-VISION exclusively on Patreon!
