This young man is a hero and a man that I would want next to me in the time of trouble. I look forward to seeing what this young man will do in the future.
I've never seen a display of animals like Bernie has from over the years of hunting. Bernie has close to 150 animals from South Africa and close to 500 altogether. Trapping and skinning flickertail gophers at the age of 6, Bernie was meant for the outdoors. Listen to the stories Bernie has about each of the animals he has shot and stuffed. I could talk to him for hours with the stories he has.

These massive animals that we call Buffalo or Bison can reach weights up to 2000 lbs., and trust me you don't want to be close to a buffalo when they get mad. The American Indians used every part of the Buffalo and it was a key source to surviving by eating their delicious meat and using their hide for clothes and tepees. You never know what you're going to catch fishing with Captain Danny Alverez fishing the Corpus Christie Bay. Then up to Rockport for airboat fishing with Captain Chase Odem. Redfish, drum, trout, catfish, stingray and a few other interesting fish. Steve talks about fishing these areas as a boy growing up in San Antonio and the memories over the years. Fishing these waters reminds me of fishing the Missouri river there's so many types of fish you never know what you're going to catch. The Corpus Christie Bay is shallow and there's many houses out in the bay on stilts that people own and use to get away and fish. Navigating these waters can be very tricky since it's so shallow you need to know what you're doing to stay safe.
If you want to catch big Muskie you have to look up Shane Akin who is considered a legend muskie fishermen in these parts. Shane and his partner Matt still hold the record for most muskie in a day and most in a 2 day tournament with 12 muskie recorded. That record tournament landed them in the PMTT world championship muskie tournament in Kentucky. They had some tough luck and ended up 4th in the world which is awesome considering they were going up against the best. We touch on the reproduction of muskie in the great lakes area going over the netting and milking of these Apex predators. Did you know a muskie can grow 15 inches in one year? Shane is a guide for all fish in the Okoboji area such as walleye, bluegill, bass, perch crappie etc. With all these fish to catch, the one that sparks the most interest for him is the elusive Muskie. Shane also shares some news about plans to split time guiding down in Florida.

Not only that but they both spent time growing up on a South Dakota resort hunting and fishing and enjoying the outdoors. This is part of the reason when they started the calendar, they had to have Dakota girls that actually enjoyed fishing hunting and the great outdoors.
