Presented by Tara Howell, Co-Director of luxury adventure and world first Tasmanian tourism mountain biking business, Blue Derby Pods Ride, where Experiences are curated to help their guests ‘experience the flow’. Tara applies her real-world experience combined with the theories of the great Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, world-renowned researcher and psychologist, whose work seeks to understand happiness, creativity, human fulfilment and the notion of ‘flow’, – a state of heightened focus and immersion in activities such as art, play and work. Tara interviews some of the world’s most interesting individuals and delves deep into conversation about their life and stories of how they #experiencetheflow.     Dr Richard Buning - The Positive Economic Impact of Mountain Biking Tourism on Individual and the Broader Community

    This episode of our ‘Flow Seekers' podcast is with Dr Richard (Rick) Buning PhD. Rick is a senior lecturer in Tourism and Event Management based at The University of Queensland. Dr. Buning's research interests reside at the intersection of physical activity, travel, and events. Within this area, his research agenda is focused on how tourists are physically active as both a driver of tourism behaviour (i.e., active lifestyle sports) and during visitation (i.e., active transport). His research on active lifestyle sports closely mirrors his passion for active sport tourism in mountain biking, cycling, running, rock climbing, hiking, and more.  In reference to mountain biking, I first attended one of Rick's presentations on the economic impact of the mountain biking sector at an event hosted by the University of Tasmania.
