In this gripping episode, we sit down with Colonel Sunil Kotnala, a third-generation Army officer, fearless mountaineer, and now a passionate filmmaker and author. For Col Sunil Kotnala, it wasn't just the glamour of the uniform that called to him—it was the edge. The uncertainty, the adrenaline, the rawness of life lived on the border between safety and sacrifice. That same edge continues to define him today, even after hanging his uniform. From patrolling dangerous terrains to summiting mountain peaks, his life in olive green was marked by a deep love for both country and adventure. Now, in his second innings, he brings the same intensity to his storytelling—writing books and making films that uncover the courage, complexity, and humanity of soldiers and ordinary people alike.Join us as we explore the incredible journey of a man who believes that life is best lived where the road disappears—on the edge. From the barracks to the base camp, from the battlefield to the big screen, Col Sunil Kotnala reminds us that no matter what chapter of life you're in, the mission never really ends.Listen, reflect, and get inspired.Because when you live on the edge, you truly learn what it means to be alive.“Call of Duty” – Real Soldiers, Real StoriesFor we believe every ordinary soldier lives an extraordinary life.

Episode #975 What if the reason your life feels flat isn't your job, your relationship, or your body—but the fact that you've stopped living on your edge? In this episode, we dive into what it really means to live to your edge—not just physically, but emotionally, sexually, spiritually, and mentally. Tim and Arthur break down why so many men slowly drift into mediocrity without even realizing it, and how that shows up in a distant marriage, a dull business, or just waking up every day feeling a little... gray. This isn't about doing more. It's about doing what actually lights you up—about reconnecting with the part of you that once felt unstoppable, confident, and clear. You'll hear practical ways men are challenging themselves daily inside The Powerful Man movement—from cold plunges and fasting to having real conversations and owning their truth in the bedroom and beyond. In this episode, you'll learn what's really on the other side of discomfort—and why leaning into your edge might just be the fastest way to become the man your wife, your kids, and you remember and respect. Because the guy you used to be? He's not gone. He's just waiting for you at the edge. Feel like your wife barely sees you anymore? Chances are, you've pulled back from your edge—and it's costing you your marriage. That's why I want to send you a free copy of A Man's Guide on How to Save Your Marriage Without Talking About It. No fluff. Just real tools that actually work. I'll buy the book. You cover shipping. Grab your copy now—link's in the show notes. If this episode hit home, it's time to stop guessing and start leading.

Pastor Pete unpacks Chapters 11 and 12 to reveal our spiritual vulnerability when we step out from under God's Kingship – whether by living in habitual sin, or by isolating ourselves from others. Although God is faithful to rescue us when we cry out to Him, we must remember that we have an enemy who is always on the prowl. To live spiritually victorious lives, we need to remain close to God, walk in continual repentance and stay connected to a community of believers.
Have you noticed how quickly we snap these days — in traffic, in line, or over something as small as an umbrella at a track meet? In this episode, I unpack why so many of us feel constantly on edge, and how stress, overstimulation, and emotional burnout might be driving more of our reactions than we realize. I'll share a recent confrontation that left my hands shaking — and the questions it raised about how we treat each other, and ourselves. If you're craving a little more calm in your everyday life, this one's for you. https://www.instagram.com/nicole_bachle/

Safe and Jake are back on the mics to tackle (another) replay controversy, some early bracketology, and break down a massive slate of games from Army's last big shot at a non-con win against North Carolina, to Maryland and Penn State looking to avoid falling to 0-2 in Big Ten play, and the beginning of a fascinating ACC Conference season.

Kitchener, ON is a tight-knit brewing scene, and one man has been a pillar of the community for around a decade now. Rob Hern launched Short Finger Brewing in 2019 after running a successful home brew shop out of the same space, and he jumped back on the pod after two years to catch Cee and Nate up. They touched on his love for his "bastard Gueuze", why he transitioned from a home brew shop to a brewery, his connection with Bebo from Third Moon, how he curates his taproom lineup, the full story behind Pulp (his legendary collab with the now-defunct Barncat Artisan Ales) and successful launch event, his Eisbock collab with the also now-defunct Half Hours On Earth, his relationship with Arabella Park, the story behind their flagship Lando, and they also talked about the Short Finger x BAOS collab for the BAOS 10th Anniversary this spring. They got into five killer beers - Lil' Sippy mixed fermentation session saison collab with Escarpment Labs, True Believer Pale Ale, Existential Risk golden sour aged in peach brandy barrels, Fresh Hell Helles Lager, and Lando (AI) variant, their neutral oak blended barrel-aged farmhouse "bastard" Gueuze. In this episode, we explore the origins and mission of Steiger, a radical international missionary movement that began with a punk priest in Amsterdam reaching ‘lost sheep.' Steiger emphasizes the power of preaching the cross through creative and visual methods and has grown into a global movement. The discussion delves into the challenges of communicating truth in a world shaped by the “Macdonaldisation of the Church” and the complex landscape of global youth culture. We tackle the confusion of identity in today's society, exacerbated by secular humanism and the isolating mantra of “my truth,” which have contributed to a world filled with loneliness, confusion, anxiety, and brokenness. Key topics include: •Engaging a post-Christian, overcrowded context with creativity and authenticity •Having spiritual conversations in a skeptical age •The necessity of focusing on Jesus rather than relying on “big names” •The Send as a means to mobilize a movement and this year's LAUNCH event, which aims to equip and release leaders like never before Inspiring stories from Oslo and Saudi Arabia illustrate how a holy discontent can fuel transformative action. Chip Ingram, host of Living on the Edge heard weekdays at 12:30pm ET on Family Life, joins the Family Life team on Day 1 of Fall Sharathon to talk about how God uses radio to grow followers of Jesus and why He uses ordinary people to make extraordinary ministry moments happen.
Join Oliver Denlinger and Dan Gulnac as they reflect on this past weekend's message, "Living on the Edge," and discuss practical ways we can create margin in our everyday lives, allowing more space for the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us!
Pastor Dan Gulnac reminds us of the importance of leaving margin in our lives so that we can thrive in life and impact people around us.
What does simplicity look like for you in your everyday life? In this episode, we're joined by CAC Faculty member Dr. Barbara Holmes. Together, we continue our chapter-by-chapter exploration of Eager to Love with Chapter 3: “Living on the Edge of the Inside: Simplicity and Justice.” This episode explores the practice of simplicity as a path to freedom, the importance of community in supporting that journey, and the concept of "soft prophecy" as a way of living in peace and being peace in a world full of suffering. Before Paul and Drew dive into the interview with Dr. Barbara Holmes, Mike and Paul catch up with Richard at his hermitage to hear his reflections on the third chapter of Eager to Love. Dr. Barbara Holmes is a scholar of African American spirituality and mysticism. Dr. Barbara Holmes reveals how the cosmos can expand our limited constructs of religion, race, and power. As faculty at the Center for Action and Contemplation, she teaches how God's communal presence can inspire imagination and wisdom, especially in times of crisis. She is the author of Race and the Cosmos, Joy Unspeakable, and Crisis Contemplation. She hosts CAC's podcast The Cosmic We. Hosted by CAC Staff: Mike Petrow, Paul Swanson, and Drew Jackson Resources: A PDF of the transcript for this episode will be available soon. Grab a copy of Eager to Love here. Andy and Mon-Chaio challenge the traditional notions of root cause analysis and incident reviews within complex systems. They examine how the framing of ensuring errors 'never happen again' can be counterproductive, suggesting a shift towards faster recovery and continuous learning instead. Drawing parallels with After Action Reviews in the military and Netflix's Chaos Monkey, they advocate for embracing controlled chaos and fostering a culture of practice and micro-decisions. Listeners will gain insights into how technical errors and normative errors are perceived, and why focusing on organizational culture can be more effective than strict process adherence. By the end, listeners will understand the importance of balancing process with flexibility and why living at the edge of chaos is crucial for organizational resilience. In the 4th century, a series of powerful earthquakes shook the island of Cyprus, leaving a profound impact on its inhabitants and Kourion in particular. These seismic events not only disrupted daily life but also reshaped the landscape, causing widespread destruction and challenging the resilience of Cypriots. The earthquakes of the 4th century stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of those who faced and rebuilt their communities in the wake of nature's formidable fury. This month, I speak with the co-director of the Kourion Urban Space Project, Dr. Laura Swantek, as KUSP enters its 14th season at Kourion.

Why is a dull knife more dangerous than a sharp one? The answer to this is actually the answer to a fulfilling life. In life we can't play it safe or else we get hurt. I learned that fact from a 9 year-old Boy Scout. But I think this is a great way to open up the conversation about competency and how it can help you have a more fulfilling life. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/generalfitnesscompany/support

Have you heard of an ecotone before? An ecotone is a transition area between two adjacent and different patches of landscape, such as forest and grassland.Ecotones do not simply represent a boundary or an edge; the concept of an ecotone assumes the existence of active interaction between two or more ecosystems with properties that do not exist in either of the adjacent ecosystems. An ecotone is a meeting place that creates something entirely distinct from either side of the boundary. In essence, 1 + 1 = 3.And this third space is what I want us to explore in this month's meditation series.Edges, ecotones and third spaces are places of life, energy & growth; they are places of speciation - of creation and evolution.Third spaces are invitations into expansion - into knowing ourselves, our lands, and our actions in a way that wouldn't be possible if we only resided on one side of the edge.Join me for today's discussion of ecotones both within ourselves and in the outside world. Thank you to Gordon Hempton for the use of the incredible soundscape in today's guided meditation. Recorded in North Carolina at Joyce Kilmer National Forest, the Cherokee were some of the first people to hear the sounds of this hardwood forest.Sign up for my newsletter at https://merylarnett.substack.com/ to receive free mini meditations each week, creative musings, and more.Make a donation or learn more about my free offerings and live classes by visiting merylarnett.cominstagram.com/merylarnettyoutube.com/@themindfulminutepodcastThank you to Brianna Nielsen for production and editing support. Greg and Johna discuss the operational milieu in which the edge is forming: Vast numbers of IoT devices, increased remote computing capabilities, questions around cloud operational costs and efficiency, and vendors jostling...
