Hobart • Hamilton • Singapore • Nashville • Buenos Aires LOVE • ASSURANCE • REST Good evening, and welcome to DailyPrayer.uk. I'm Reverend Ben Cooper. As this Saturday gently comes to its close, thank you for ending the day with me. Before we settle into the quietness of the evening, let's pause together and remember one beautiful truth that can carry us peacefully through the night: we are never beyond the loving presence of God. There are days that leave us with a deep sense of gratitude, and there are days that leave us with unanswered questions. Most Saturdays contain a little of both. Yet whatever this day has held, the Lord has remained faithful from its first light until this very moment. He has walked beside us through every conversation, every decision, every unexpected turn and every quiet blessing. Tonight, we do not rest because we have understood everything that has happened today. We rest because the God who loves us has been with us every step of the way.  Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV) “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” What a wonderful picture of God's heart towards His children. We are not simply noticed by the Lord; we are deeply loved. His presence surrounds us, His saving power gives us confidence and His love brings quiet reassurance to our hearts. As this day comes to an end, we can place ourselves safely into His care, knowing that tomorrow will also be held securely in His hands. So tonight, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because the Lord is with us, delights in us and faithfully watches over us through the night. Father, thank You for Your unfailing love that has carried us throughout this day. Thank You for never leaving us and for surrounding us with Your faithful care. Lord Jesus, bless every listener tonight. Bring peaceful sleep to the weary, comfort to those who feel lonely, renewed hope to those facing tomorrow and quiet confidence to every heart resting in Your presence. Holy Spirit, draw us ever closer to the Father's heart. Fill our homes with Your peace, settle our minds with Your truth and help us awaken tomorrow ready to follow Christ with renewed joy. Across the world, from Hobart to Hamilton, from Singapore to Nashville and Buenos Aires, may every listener rest tonight knowing that the Lord is with them, delights in them and lovingly watches over them. Before this day quietly slips into the night, let's pause together, open God's Word and receive the lasting peace that Jesus lovingly offers to every trusting heart. There are evenings when the world still feels noisy, even after everything around us has grown quiet. Thoughts continue to turn, questions remain unanswered and tomorrow can seem to arrive before today has fully ended. Yet in the middle of all these things, Jesus speaks words that still calm anxious hearts. He offers us His peace—not a temporary feeling, but a lasting gift rooted in His unchanging presence. John 14:27 (NIV) “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” What a beautiful promise for this evening. The peace of Christ is not dependent upon perfect circumstances. It flows from knowing that the Saviour who holds tomorrow also holds us securely tonight. As we entrust every unfinished thought, every unanswered question and every hope for tomorrow into His hands, our hearts become settled in His faithful care. So tonight, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ gives a peace that the world cannot take away. Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son and for the peace that He freely gives. Thank You that Your love remains constant through every changing circumstance. Lord Jesus, bless every listener tonight. Bring healing to those who are unwell, comfort to those who feel alone, reassurance to those carrying tomorrow's concerns and deep, refreshing rest to every weary heart. Help us finish this day resting confidently in Your peace. It is found by placing our hope in the Lord, whose love remains constant and whose presence gently quiets every anxious thought. Psalm 62:5 (NIV) “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” What a beautiful invitation to receive tonight. God welcomes us to bring our whole selves into His presence—the questions we still carry, the gratitude we have discovered and the hopes we hold for tomorrow. As our hearts become settled in Him, we discover a peace that reaches beneath our circumstances and steadies us from within. Tomorrow will arrive in its own time, but tonight our souls may rest safely in the faithful love of God. So this evening, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ is our unfailing hope, and in Him our hearts find lasting rest. Father, thank You for Your constant love throughout this day. Thank You for every quiet reminder of Your goodness and for the peace You freely give to those who trust in You. Yet tonight we are gently invited to lift our eyes above everything that changes and fix our hearts upon the Lord, whose presence remains constant through every season of life.  Psalm 16:8 (NIV) “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” What a wonderful promise to carry into this evening. The closer our hearts remain to Christ, the steadier our lives become. His presence gives us confidence for tomorrow, His love settles anxious thoughts and His faithfulness becomes the firm ground beneath our feet. We may not know everything that tomorrow will bring, but we know the One who will walk with us into it. So tonight, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ remains at our side, giving us quiet confidence that cannot be shaken. As the evening settles around us, let's pause together, open God's Word and gently place our thoughts into the faithful care of God. As another day comes to its close, our minds can still be busy. We replay conversations, think about tomorrow and carry questions that remain unanswered. Yet the Lord does not ask us to solve everything before we rest. Instead, He lovingly invites us to fix our hearts upon Him, discovering a peace that reaches deeper than our circumstances and steadies us from within.  Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” What a beautiful promise for this evening. God's peace is not fragile or uncertain. It is steady, dependable and deeply rooted in His unchanging character. As we choose to place our thoughts into His care, anxious minds begin to settle, weary hearts find fresh assurance and tomorrow no longer feels like a burden we must carry tonight. So this evening, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ fills every trusting heart with His perfect and lasting peace. Father, thank You for bringing us safely to the close of another day. Thank You for every kindness You have shown us, every quiet answer to prayer and every reminder that Your faithfulness has remained constant. Lord Jesus, bless every listener tonight. Some moments have brought joy, others have stretched our hearts and there may still be questions waiting for tomorrow. Yet tonight, we are invited to stop striving, loosen our grip on everything we cannot control and settle into the quiet assurance that the Lord will sustain us through the night. Our rest is not earned by having a perfect day; it is received as a gift from a faithful Father. Psalm 3:5 (NIV) “I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.” What a beautiful promise to carry into this evening. Every new morning is evidence of God's continuing faithfulness. While our bodies rest, He gently renews our strength, refreshes our hearts and prepares us for another day of walking with Him. We do not place our confidence in tomorrow itself; we place our confidence in the God who will be with us when tomorrow arrives. So tonight, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ faithfully sustains us through the night and lovingly awakens us with new mercy. Father, thank You for carrying us through another day. Thank You for every blessing we recognised, every kindness we received and every unseen way Your grace has sustained us when we did not even realise it. Lord Jesus, bless every listener tonight. Bring healing to those who are unwell, comfort to those who feel lonely, deep rest to weary minds and renewed strength to everyone who needs a fresh beginning tomorrow. Help us release today's efforts and receive tonight's peace with grateful hearts. Holy Spirit, renew our minds as we sleep, restore what has become weary within us and prepare us to rise with fresh confidence in Your unfailing love. Tara Isabella Burton (DPhil, University of Oxford; Visiting Fellow, Mercatus Center, George Mason University; Visiting Research Fellow, Institutional Flourishing Lab, Catholic University of America) is a theologian and culture critic, and the author of Self-Made: Creating Our Identities from Da Vinci to the Kardashians (Public Affairs, 2022) and Strange Rites: New Religions for a Godless World (Public Affairs, 2020). She is a regular contributor on religion and culture to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and has lectured and taught seminars at Yale University, Hobart and William Smith College, Radford University, and Covenant College. Her research has been supported by the Mercatus Center and the Robert Novak Foundation. Burton is currently at work on a book about the influence of the Western esoteric tradition, from alchemy to Freemasonry to 19th-century "occult" practices like Theosophy and spiritualism, in the development of what we think of today as "scientific progress." She argues that the category of the "magical" should be understood as part of a wider theological tradition of understanding what it means for human beings to have mastery over nature. We’re just 72 days away from the start of the Division III football season, and in that time, there’s a bunch of work to get done, including getting ready for the D3football.com preseason Top 25. We’re hungry for football to get started! And we’re getting you there with a couple of great conversations with coaches and Division III schools putting in that offseason work. That includes at Ohio Northern, which was stung at the last second in the NPI calculation and just missed the NCAA playoffs. Then the Polar Bears were stung at the last second in their bowl game, as Wabash scored at the end of the game, plus connected on a two-point conversion to get the win. That’s a lot of stinging, but the Polar Bears have worked away from that, including going as far as Ireland to find a summer opponent and get themselves ready for the 2026 Division III football season.
