Our guest today is a maverick of music, an agent provocateur whose visually arresting image, razor sharp humour and mentally challenging music helped forge that most enduring of sub-cultures; 'Goth'. Back in the early 1980s when the post-punk counter culture embraced film noir and turned the technicolor of glam into a more sinister monochromatic look, festooned with spider webs, skulls and too much eye-liner Nik Fiend was one of the original bad-taste makers at London's The Batcave club. 'Alien Sex Fiend' along with 'The Specimen' and 'Sex Gang Children' made regular appearances at the infamous Batcave. Together they helped establish the look and feel of the early Goth scene in the south, where the likes of Nick Cave, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Bauhaus, Foetus, Robert Smith and even a freshly crimped and spiked Elizabeth Hurley were all regular attendees. The world has of course never been the same, and while music and fashion constantly evolve there is alway the reverberation of the gothic asthetic. Mr & Mrs Fiend continue to create and celebrate chaos around the world, finding success on US college radio, getting 'big in Japan' and spreading their tendrils throughout continental Europe. Uncompromising, often hilarious, always a little bit shocking Alien Sex Fiend are a national treasure who have been hidden in the basement for far too long. Before we talk to Nik we do that thing we love to do, we talk about a completely different type of music! This month we are very pleased to speak to Alex Coles about his excellent book on Jazz Fusion. It is beautiful object and a fascinating discussion about how Jazz can be fused with all manner of musical styles and add to the overall effect. The discussion takes in Sinatra, Joni Mitchell, Charlie Mingus, Kendrick Lamar and Neneh Cherry. We also set aside a few minutes to discussing the giant hole in Deb's flat. Hosted on Acast. In this episode, Shaahin delves into various aspects of entrepreneurship and the qualities he observes and values to achieve real wealth and success. Drawing from his own experiences, he shares stories of overcoming societal limitations to build stability and success. Shaahin talks about the importance of building multiple streams of income and the courses he offers to help people create a business with Amazon that brings real value to the consumer and generates extraordinary revenue by understanding the long game. But more importantly, you need to show up to the game! Shaahin defines success as a personal measure, not one based on comparison with others, and advocates for systems over goals and the power of self-knowledge in discipline. Shaahin and Patrick discuss the importance of knowing yourself—your strengths, weaknesses, and the fabric of who you are to make informed decisions and lead a fulfilling life.

From Theory to Practice - An Uncompromising Path - Cologne, Germany with David Hoffmeister and Urpi Milla NavarroDuring David and Urpi's Europe tour, their final event takes place in Cologne, Germany. They enjoy a delightful time with Sabyne, the German translator, making the event a lighthearted exploration of transitioning from theory to practice. They discuss the importance of interpretation, using the example of Martin Luther translating the gospel from Latin to German, making it accessible to ordinary people. The speaker emphasizes that the purpose of interpretation is to share meaning despite the complexity of languages and cultures. The Holy Spirit's interpretation is described as simple, innocent, lighthearted, and accepting, guiding individuals to understand that God is their only need, leading to true abundance and happiness. If you want to know more about David Hoffmeister and the Living Miracles events, here is more information: https://www.the-christ.net/eventsRecorded, November 6, 2024, Cologne, Germany.

“The road to ruin is paved with small compromises.” It began with a passion for defending the Christian faith. Known for his eloquence and thoughtful insights, he captivated audiences around the world, by articulating the reasons for faith in a way that drew in many. Which led to his ministry flourishing…
This Sunday we are going to continue our study in the book of 1 Corinthians (Chapter 9:19-27) and we will be reading some fairly famous verses that Paul wrote. The verses start with a statement from Paul where he juxtaposes his freedom, (“with no master”), and his slavery (“to all people”). Those are clearly opposite statements and it leaves us pondering how both can be true.He goes on to say that when he was with the Jews, he lived like a Jewish person. When he was with the Gentiles, he lived like a gentile person. Some people could perceive this as Paul being fake or disingenuous, but the fact that he proudly shares his choices tells us that this was all for a purpose. Why doesn't Paul walk into those spaces with the rights and freedoms he possesses to show people how Christianity should look? Isn't he one of our prime examples of how to live Christianity out? It's important to remember that when Paul went to preach about Jesus at the synagogues he was not met with open arms. He knew the risk, he knew the challenges, he knew the outward changes he had to make to be heard, and he knew the feeling of being beaten and bruised by those he once called family. He knew all those things and not only did he continue to share, he looked at the people he was writing to and asked them to do the same.So where does this leave us in the polarized world that we live in today? In what ways can we exercise our freedom by choosing to be a slave to the people around us? How does this work in our effort to maintain healthy boundaries and remain honest about who we are at our deepest levels? There is a lot to ponder in these verses and we invite you to join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM as we study and break down these verses together.Click here for a pdf of the teaching slideshow.

Are you a Christian entrepreneur feeling shackled by self-doubt or the fear of selling? Prepare to have your mindset radically transformed. In this candid interview, Nicky Billou, a renowned Iranian-Canadian entrepreneur and top podcast host, pulls no punches as he challenges conventional wisdom and inspires listeners to embrace the ultimate key to success: freedom.Drawing from his powerful personal journey of escaping tyranny to unlock his true potential, Nicky passionately articulates why freedom is the bedrock of entrepreneurship. Without the liberty to express ourselves freely and chart our own course, he argues, the spirit of enterprise withers. Yet when we operate from a place of freedom, rooted in our faith and values, we unleash our ability to create abundantly and live out our God-given purpose. At the core of Nicky's message is a paradigm shift in how we view sales – an area where many Christian entrepreneurs stumble. With tough love and refreshing candor, he reframes sales not as a necessary evil, but as an "act of love" – a sacred opportunity to serve those we care about deeply. This mind-shifting perspective invites listeners to confront self-limiting beliefs head-on and embrace discomfort as the catalyst for breakthrough growth.Gain a profound appreciation for freedom as the wellspring of entrepreneurial successOvercome the fear of selling by reframing it as an expression of love and serviceDiscover actionable strategies for making firm decisions, committing wholeheartedly, and developing a resourceful mindsetLearn how to stay true to your faith while pursuing ambitious goals and building a thriving businessConnect with Nicky:Complimentary Breakthrough Call: https://www.ecircleacademy.com/appointmentLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nickybillou/Website: https://www.ecircleacademy.com/Connect with La'Quita:✅ LISTEN/VIEW✅ SUBSCRIBE✅ DOWNLOAD✅ RATE 5 STARS✅ WRITE A REVIEW!Apple Podcast: LaQuita's Toolbox on Apple PodcastsPodchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/laquitas-toolbox-1727407
