Colorado Outdoors - the Podcast for Colorado Parks and Wildlife
To kick off the first episode of Season 3, host John Livingston sits down with CPW Wildlife Damage Specialist Max Morton, who assisted the agency in standing up the range rider program in 2025.Range riders are eyes and ears on the landscape, collecting important information for livestock producers, wildlife managers, and biologists alike. In addition to providing human presence that can deter wolf conflict, riders collect data that allows CPW and CDA to determine best approaches for addressing conflict through adaptive, coordinated plans.CPW hired 11 range riders to assist in efforts to minimize wolf depredation of livestock on range in 2025. CPW opened the application process to as many as 24 range riders for the 2026 season.Morton, who discusses his past experience as a range rider in Arizona and New Mexico, details what range riding is, how it is most effective and why it was important for CPW to implement the program.

Roxy's Ride & Inspire RAWcast - Mountain Bike & Mindset Podcast
Mountain biking can rewire your brain for deep confidence and self-trust. But if you're not careful, it can also train self-doubt, fear, and destructive thought patterns. In this episode, I break down the neuroscience behind both. You'll learn how real confidence is built through motor learning, awareness, and measurable progress — and why many riders unknowingly train the opposite of what they want. I explain how skills training, when done intentionally, becomes a powerful tool to overcome limiting habits and beliefs — based on how the brain actually works. This isn't motivation fluff. It's brain science applied to the trail.Because MTB is more than sport. If used consciously, it becomes a laboratory for rewiring belief systems. You'll also hear the story of Samantha, a rider who went from constant self-doubt to grounded confidence — through understanding cause and effect, and how you can, too! You'll learn:- Why confidence is a trained neural pattern (not a character trait)- How to build confidence circuits in your brain- Why awareness is the true foundation of self-confidence and what the German word for confidence (Selbstbewusstsein) has to do with it- How the Notice → Accept → Adjust → Repeat loop builds self-trust- Why dopamine from small wins is more powerful than big breakthroughs- Why negative self-talk blocks learning- Why even your posture and body tension directly influence confidence- How familiarity — not difficulty — determines fear- Why safe practice environments accelerate growth- How skills training on the bike transfers into real-life self-beliefLinks mentioned in the episode: Join my once a year LIVE COHORT starting in April: https://roxybike.podia.com/skill-up-2026-your-all-in-one-mtb-skills-programPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/rideandinspireBuy me a coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/roxyinspiresWork with me with my remote coaching: https://www.roxybike-coaching.comSign up for my FREE newsletter with tips directly to your inbox and get a FREE BALANCE COURSE to start rewiring right on your doorstep: https://roxybike.podia.com/sign-me-up Book MentionedWay of the Peaceful Warrior – Dan Millman

In this episode, I sit down with Ross Dunlop, a Scottish-born mountain bike and snowboard coach who's spent the last 20 years in Whistler and co-founded the SportsSense app.We dive into the mental side of riding - hesitation, commitment, reading terrain, and staying strong when things get tough. Ross shares his journey from Scotland to Canada, from snowboarding instruction to year-round coaching, and how his thinking around progression has evolved. We talk about using frustration as a positive sign of growth, breaking down skills like manuals, managing confidence and risk, and how a coach's energy shapes rider belief. We also explore how technology can support in-person coaching, and why small, consistent gains matter most in the long run.___________________________ FREE Mental About MTB Community with direct access to me

Why do MTB skills feel amazing right after a clinic… and then “disappear”? In this episode, I break down what's really happening inside your brain (neuroscience-based, no fluff, in simple terms) when you learn mountain bike skills:Why your brain deletes new MTB skills (unless you do this)The real reason skills fade: you're stuck in Stage 1 of neuroplasticity Why confidence isn't magic, it's actually something called myelination (and it's simple to build!)Why fear blocks learning: the amygdala rule every MTB rider (and MTB skills coach) should knowYou'll learn how to move from temporary performance to trail-proof skill by understanding the 3 stages of neuroplasticity and how to train in a way that actually sticks.Real progress isn't about talent or bravery. It's about wiring the skill deep enough that it shows up when it matters. In this episode you'll find out how to do that!

The path to becoming a master woodworker doesn't always start in a workshop. Sometimes it begins on a mountain bike trail during the off-season. In this episode of the Woodpreneur Podcast, host Jennifer Alger welcomes Simon Silver of Simon Silver Designs to explore his remarkable journey from mountain bike athlete to accomplished woodworker and sawmill operator. Simon shares how he discovered woodworking as a hobby during the off-season and how a pivotal class with a skilled mentor accelerated his learning and instilled a detail-oriented mindset that defines his work today. You'll hear about Simon's commitment to creating timeless furniture pieces from urban wood, storm trees, and reclaimed materials, and his sawmill business that sources local redwood logs to provide unique lumber for custom projects. Simon discusses the balance between commissioned work and personal creative projects, the evolution of his business from small pieces to large-scale installations, and the increasing complexity and reward of challenging custom woodworking. This conversation dives into the realities of running a custom woodworking business, including the challenges of job site work, the importance of educating clients about wood movement and natural material characteristics, and the critical skill of learning to say no to projects that don't align with your vision or values. Simon also reflects on maintaining passion for the craft when business demands threaten to overshadow creative fulfillment, and his plans to create personal pieces that reignite his love for woodworking. Whether you're a woodworker navigating the transition from hobby to business, interested in sustainable wood sourcing and urban lumber, or looking for insights on balancing commercial success with creative satisfaction, this episode offers honest wisdom from someone who's built a thriving woodworking business while staying true to his craft.

Electric mountain bikes. Either you love ‘em, or think they're wack. Granted, the latter opinion has been losing steam as more brands release good e-bikes, and more riders toss a leg over one. They're the talk of our industry and are one of the few, if not the only, segments of bikes experiencing significant change year after year.In this show, Vital's own Jason Schroeder and Shawn Spomer, along with industry veteran Lars Sternberg, and Founder/Operator of Crestline Bikes, Troydon Murison, sift through the current landscape of e-bikes and discuss what the future might hold. This week on the Gnar Couch Podshow, we hang with rampage-riding legend CJ Ceilig. Okay, she's not legendary yet, but she will be after this podcast. She somehow makes a terrible sausage party pod team actually worth listening to. She's a Eurotah-bouncing, breakfast sandwich-dodging shredder who's done it all. From bluffing her way through a bike-shop job (“Derailleur? Totally pasta.”) to leading teams at Five Ten and Reverse Components, CJ's story is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. We talk about the chaos of Rampage prep, the magic and madness of Virgin, Utah, and the glamorous side of living in a van, which may or may not include neighbors who poop in buckets. If you're here for serious bike discussion, you're in the wrong place. But if you love grit, humor, and real stories from the freeride desert and beyond, hit play. When Roz Osborne signed up for the Silk Road Mountain Race, her motivation was simple: to prove her son wrong.Living in Cornwall with her husband and 12-year-old son, Roz had spent years pouring her energy into family and work. But when she left her job and saw applications open for the race, something inside her clicked. She wanted to do something entirely for herself — not as a mum, or a wife, or an employee, but as Roz.In this episode of Detours, Roz shares her journey from that moment of saying yes out loud, to standing on the start line in Kyrgyzstan, to crossing the finish line two weeks later. She talks about the guilt and joy of chasing a goal that's purely your own, the challenge of preparing for an ultra as a parent, and the freedom that comes from carving out space for yourself. Before our conversation, you'll also hear the voice note Roz recorded before the race as part of our Women of SRMR Detours Episode — a message to her future self that still rings true today.Follow Roz on Instagram: @rozosborne Follow Mel on Instagram: @melwwebbFollow Detours on Instagram: @detourscyclingFollow Albion on Instagram: @albion.cyclingUse code DETOURS15 to get 15% off your next order from AlbionIf you love this show please consider pledging your support to sustain producing this show: https://buymeacoffee.com/detourspodcast

I first interviewed Lindsey Richter five years ago and that podcast episode became one of the most popular that I've ever done. Much like anyone who has ever been to one of Lindey's Ladies All Ride skills camps, listeners of that episode immediately fell in love with her.So obviously, I was super excited to have Lindsey back on the podcast a second time. Lindsey is now 50 and stronger and wiser than ever. She just returned from leading an all-women train down A-Line at Crankworx Whistler, and she continues to help other women develop the same confident, bad-ass energy that she embodies. In this interview, we talk about mountain biking as we get older, but this episode is also for anyone who's ever ridden a mountain bike or would like to get on a mountain bike. Lindsey shares her advice for women who are brand new to the sport, how to overcome mental hurdles, why it's so important to build community, and much more!Full Show Notes: https://femmecyclist.com/lindsey-richter-interview

J.T. was also one of two guests on episode 192 where we discussed the Economic Impact that Mountain Biking can have on communities. For this episode we are discussing various ways to bridge the gap between Land Conservation organizations and the Trail Community. This topic can be a rather important topic because land access for trails is often one of the most challenging hurdles for trail development. As J.T. describes during this conversation, partnering with a Land Conservation Organization that understands the value of trails and outdoor recreation can be a critical step in the trail development process. I always really enjoy perspective that J.T. brings during our conversations and I hope you do as well! Topics Include: The J.T. If you're anything like me, you've likely longed for a time when you could leave everything behind and hit the road, actually live the van life. I've got you covered. This episode is for you. Today, I'm speaking with Brent and Alan Klein from VanDoit, who take travelers to better places through trustworthy, modular van designs tailored to each story. Facebook Twitter Instagram Love the show? Subscribe, rate, review, and share! Sign up for my Newsletter HERE I'd love to hear your feedback about the show! You can contact me here: rick@theoutdoorbizpodcast.com What Happened: I used to think van life meant dropping everything, quitting your job, and driving off into the sunset with a dog and a dream. You know, the stuff Instagram makes look effortless. But then I met people who lived something different—more real. Like hauling their kids to soccer in the same van they use for weekend mountain biking trips. Or using it as a mobile showroom by day, then a cozy crash pad by night. It hit me: this isn't about escaping life—it's about expanding it. Making your van fit your life, not the other way around. That's when I realized... van life doesn't have to be all or nothing. It can be everything. Principle: The best adventure vehicles don't just take you places—they evolve with your life. From hauling mulch to hauling mountain bikes to hauling kids, they meet you wherever you are. Van life isn't about living out of your van. It's about living more fully because of it. Transition: But here's the thing… Most people think van life means going all-in, Instagram-ready sunsets and full-time nomadism. And that belief? It's holding them back. They either think it's “not for them” or they try to DIY their way into it and end up elbow-deep in wiring they should've never touched. That's why: That's why we dropped this episode of the Outdoor Adventure Lifestyle Podcast—to show you a more authentic path. One that's rooted in decades of experience, real-life usage, and a design philosophy that's more about living than it is about lifestyle labels. Call to Action: Still dreaming of freedom but stuck thinking you're “not the van type”? Listen to this episode.
