This episode provides tips for tenants to make a good impression when applying for rental properties. Basic manners and courtesy, wearing socks to viewings, and following instructions in rental ads are important. A survey shows that providing additional information beyond "is it available?" increases the chances of getting a response from landlords. Other tips include presenting a budget sheet, being concise but thorough in answering screening questions, and taking ownership of problems. It is also important to present oneself positively on social media and not badmouth previous landlords. Unique ways to showcase oneself, such as presenting a business card, can also set tenants apart from the competition.Welcome to FOR RENT - Conversations to better the rental market!Links and Resources:MacKenzie Wilson's LinkedInSingleKeyAlberta Landlord Facebook GroupSponsorshipThis podcast is powered by SingleKey, Canada's #1 tenant screening service! Perch CEO Alex Leduc explains how the latest Bank of Canada interest rate hike will affect the real estate market. The market is still pricing in that rates inflation should go back to normal, but ultimately the outlook is still that we will start seeing cuts. The expectation that the market is pricing in is that they're going to start cutting about a percent a year, starting in the middle of next year. Quarter-point hikes shouldn't change a lot of people's mentalities around housing or purchases, but for every quarter-point increase, payments on every $100k increase by about $14 a month.Guest Alex LeducPerch Mortgages and Perch CapitalYour host, MacKenzie Wilson, with SingleKey and ALC.
