Former Federal Transit Administration Administrator Marc Molinaro joins Paul Comfort for an in-depth conversation about federal transit policy, funding, and the future of public transportation.Drawing on his experience as both a member of Congress and the leader of the FTA, Molinaro offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the agency operates, what transit agencies should understand about federal grants, and why building consensus in Washington is often more complicated than it appears. The discussion explores the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee's recently approved surface transportation reauthorization proposal, evolving federal priorities around safety, security, accessibility, and project delivery, and the growing role of bus rapid transit in connecting urban, suburban, and rural communities.Whether you're a transit executive, policymaker, or industry observer, this episode provides valuable insight into how federal decisions shape local transit systems across North America. In This EpisodeWhat the FTA actually does day-to-day How federal transit grants are evaluated and managed Lessons learned from leading the FTA The future of surface transportation reauthorization Safety, security, and accessibility priorities Bus Rapid Transit vs. Light Rail investment trends Why transit legislation advances through "evolution, not revolution" What transit leaders often misunderstand about WashingtonCreditsHost and Producer: Paul Comfort Executive Producer: Julie Gates Producer: Chris O'Keeffe Editor: Patrick Emile Associate Producer: Cyndi Raskin Brand Design: Tina Olagundoye Transit Unplugged is brought to you by Modaxo, passionate about moving the world's people. For more information, visit: www.Transit Unplugged.comDisclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this program are those of the guests, and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of Modaxo Inc., its affiliates or subsidiaries, or any entities they represent (“Modaxo”). FC Cincinnati have started the season with a frustrating road slate, losing their first three away matches of the 2026 season. It doesn't help that they encounter a team they couldn't solve at home, but perhaps that allows for some sort of comeuppance if FCC can figure out Toronto FC. The Boys in Red have capitalized on their first home slate of the season, winning two and drawing one to start at BMO Field. In fact, Toronto is undefeated over their last ten home matches stretching into last season. So how does Cincinnati right their ship? We talk with John, founder and writer for TFC Republic, to get knowledge on how Toronto's offense has been reenergized and if they could find another three points against the Orange & Blue. On today's show, host Ali Muldrow is in conversation with Joanne Molinaro, aka The Korean Vegan. A former lawyer turned content creator and award-winning author with over 6 million followers, Molinaro sends a message of optimism and strategy that helps her followers feel like they can engage in informed political conversations. Molinaro says that she's followed her talents, using her power as a storyteller to make an impact in the world. She started The Korean Vegan in 2016 as a hobby but eventually left her law firm to become a full-time influencer. She's a master of the bait and switch, melding videos about food with captions about what it's like to be an immigrant in the US. In addition to recipes, Muldrow and Molinaro discuss the echo chamber of social media, what her family thinks about her storytelling, and who she would and wouldn't make dinner for (she'd cook JD Vance japchae). Molinaro says that we need to invest in institutions that aren't online, like dinner parties, book clubs, picnics, etc. Joanne Molinaro has over 6 million fans spread across her social media platforms. She is a New York Times best-selling author and James Beard Award winner. Her debut cookbook was selected as one of “The Best Cookbooks of 2021” by The New York Times and The New Yorker among others. Molinaro is a Korean American woman, born in Chicago, Illinois. After a single post of her making Korean braised potatoes for dinner (while her husband taught a piano lesson in the background) went viral, Molinaro shifted her attention to producing 60 second recipe videos, while telling stories about her family—immigrants from what is now known as North Korea. Former Dutchess executive leaves FTA job after six months Marc Molinaro, the former Dutchess County executive and U.S. congressman, will resign as administrator of the Federal Transit Administration on Friday (Feb. 20) to return to New York. He held the job for six months. According to Politico and the Times Union, each citing an anonymous source, Molinaro plans to campaign for a state Assembly seat being vacated by Chris Tague, who is running for the state Senate. The seat represents District 102, which covers Greene and Schoharie counties in the Catskills. In a post on X, Molinaro wrote, "I'm coming home to be closer to my family and get back into the fight." Before becoming Dutchess County executive in 2011, Molinaro served five years as a county legislator and two terms in the state Assembly. He was also the Republican candidate for governor in 2018. He was elected to the House in 2023 but lost his bid for re-election to Josh Riley. Before joining the FTA, Molinaro had been a senior advisor to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

Prime Minister Mark Carney's recent high-profile international trip included a visit to China where he announced a new “strategic partnership” with Beijing. In the aftermath, attention has focused on the canola and electric vehicle deals that emerged, while far less has been said about the “guardrails” Carney previously stated are necessary for dealing with Beijing. But those promised guardrails deserve serious scrutiny — especially after decades of foreign interference in Canada carried out by China. To discuss that history, Dr. Dennis Molinaro joins Inside Policy Talks. Molinaro is the author of the recently published book Under Assault: Interference and Espionage in China's Secret War Against Canada. The book describes Molinaro's incredible investigation into Beijing's five decades of interference in Canada's political and public life. Molinaro is a historian and an expert in security, espionage, and counter-intelligence. He's worked in government as a national security analyst and policy advisor, and is now a faculty member at Ontario Tech University. On the podcast, he tells Christopher Coates, director of foreign policy, national defence, and national security at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, that if Canada wants to trade with China, it must do so with an “understanding of the country that China is, not the country that Canada wants it to be.”“The reality is China is an authoritarian system. It is a dictatorship. You have there an immense security state apparatus,” says Molinaro. “This is not a Western country. This isn't just a normal economic viable alternative to trading with the United States.”

This episode of The China Desk dives deep into one of the most urgent national-security challenges facing North America: the Chinese Communist Party's long-running campaign of espionage, foreign influence, and elite capture. Host Steve Yates sits down with Canadian intelligence expert and author Dennis Molinaro—whose new book Under Assault uncovers five decades of covert CCP operations targeting Canada, the United States, and allied democracies.Molinaro explains how China's influence networks took root, how academics, politicians, and business elites were quietly co-opted, and why many Western leaders chose to “see only what they wanted to see.” He breaks down united-front tactics, interference in diplomatic recognition, transnational repression, technology theft, and the chilling playbook the CCP perfected at home before exporting abroad. As you drive through the gates of Del Valle Winery, you see our Sangiovese Vineyard next to our vine covered arbor, a very popular place to sit and wine taste. Walk up the few steps of the Tasting room deck and enjoy the Livermore sunshine. In the Tasting Room, you can sit at tables, stools at the bar or enjoy a private tasting in Bobs Boardroom. As you walk out the Tasting room, you will find yourself on our covered patio where our Friday Firepit Music events take place, weddings and private events as well as daily wine tastings and small plates and lunch from our kitchen. Our barrel room is a great indoor spot, and one of my favorites is our Secret Garden, a serene setting to host an intimate gathering. At Del Valle we focus on the wine tasting experience, with an offering of foods to enjoy and complement our wines. Our kitchen is open daily (Thursday thru Monday) and serves sharable items, salads, soups, sandwiches and flat breads. Our Sangiovese is made from our vineyard on the property, all other varietals are from fruit sourced in the Livermore Valley. Our 2024 bottling consisted of 950 cases, we have continued to make more wine each year since opening the winery in 2020 and plan to bottle 1100 cases this year.
