Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try, life just keeps happening to you and nothing seems to go as planned? That was me for years, fully living in the hot mess identity. Luggage would get lost, technology would fail, people would show up late, and somehow none of it was ever my fault. I believed the world dictated my day, my energy, and my results, and I spent more time reacting to circumstances than leading my life. In this episode, I share thirteen specific shifts that helped me shed the hot mess identity and consistently show up as a reliable, resourceful, and prepared coach and business owner. This includes honoring my word no matter the circumstances, planning for other people's potential messiness, building buffer time into every part of my day, and stopping the habit of shaming myself or letting others shame me. By implementing these changes, I was able to move from chaos to calm, create space to execute at my best, and fully own my actions and results. In this episode, we're diving into the powerful ways our beliefs, stories, and emotions shape our lives and businesses. Stories are more than just events; they're teachers that guide how we learn, grow, and see ourselves in the world. Yet sometimes the narratives we've inherited—especially around money, success, and what's possible—leave us feeling small, bitter, and even powerless. Unlearning these old, restrictive stories isn't always easy, but being acknowledged for the truth of who we are—and choosing to write new stories—opens us to feeling deeply connected to our purpose, our community, and the flow of abundance. From that place, we can step into a more prosperous way of living and leading. In today's solo episode, I share: - How stories shape the way we learn, grow, and connect with deeper wisdom. - Why letting go of limiting beliefs is so challenging—and why it's the key to empowerment. - The ways women are often guided by societal rules that restrict financial freedom. - Why embracing emotions transforms them into a powerful force in both business and life. Why This Episode Is a Must-Watch Are you curious about how Bitcoin and digital currencies can fit into your retirement plan? With new pro-crypto legislation and increasing mainstream acceptance, retirement investing with crypto is gaining traction. In this episode of Inspired Money, host Andy Wang takes you inside the future of digital asset investing for retirement, straight from the headquarters of iHeartMedia in NYC. Whether you're a crypto skeptic or enthusiast, you'll discover eye-opening strategies to protect your nest egg and potentially grow your wealth, tax-free. Meet our Guest Chris Kline is the Co-Founder and COO of BitcoinIRA, the pioneering platform that enables investors to hold cryptocurrencies directly in tax-advantaged retirement accounts. With over a decade in financial innovation, Chris has led BitcoinIRA from its inception in 2016 to becoming a $14 billion asset under custody leader, making him a sought-after authority on crypto and retirement investing. Key Highlights 1. The Case for Crypto in Retirement Accounts Chris Kline discusses how BitcoinIRA was created to meet the demand for alternative investments in retirement portfolios. As traditional pensions dwindle and inflation rises, Chris shares why diversification is essential. “We have a retirement crisis in America... Alternatives are no longer a luxury—they're a necessity for long-term security,” he says. 2. The Power (and Potential) of a Roth IRA for Crypto Growth Andy Wang and Chris Kline break down the appeal of holding Bitcoin in a Roth IRA, emphasizing the game-changing benefit: tax-free gains. Chris explains, “To have it [Bitcoin] in a tax-free, tax-deferred setting...when you hit that ripe age of retirement and can take those distributions out tax-free—that's what the big money's doing.” 3. Security & Innovation: The "Pentagon of Custody" Approach Security is a major concern for digital assets. Chris highlights BitcoinIRA's robust, multi-layered “Pentagon of Custody” system—which includes multi-signature wallets, insurance, and strict authentication—to protect clients' crypto “nest eggs” from threats both external and internal. “We put [your assets] at the center and then we put these rings of protection,” Chris explains. 4. Financial Literacy & Accessibility The conversation underscores the importance of financial literacy and demystifying complex concepts like digital assets for all generations. Chris advocates, “You need more advocates out there teaching it. But people have to be open to it… that's what keeps us from really prospering.” Call-to-Action Don't just listen—take action. Check your retirement accounts this week and see if you're truly diversified for the future you want. Even if you start small, even if it's just learning, your future self will thank you. In this episode of What's Next, we welcome Frikkie van Loggerenberg, Head of Investment Strategy and CEO of IFSA. Frikkie shares the fascinating story behind the origins of IFSA and how the company has evolved from its beginnings as an advisory business into a specialized investment management firm with a strong focus on estate planning. He explains why many individuals fall into the trap of “quick and dirty” financial planning, and highlights the importance of building a proper foundation through holistic advice, lifestyle analysis, and long-term strategies instead of simply focusing on products. The conversation dives deep into the role of estate planning as the cornerstone of financial success. Frikkie outlines common mistakes people make—such as not having a will, underestimating liquidity needs, or assuming their estate is too simple to require planning—and explains how IFSA takes a different, independent approach. With a national network of advisers and a client-first philosophy, IFSA helps individuals structure their investments, retirement planning, and estates in a way that aligns with their wishes and safeguards their legacy.
When it comes to creating the life or business you want, the biggest barrier is often the story you keep telling yourself about who you are. Identity urges are the habitual patterns your brain offers up that reinforce the version of yourself you've always believed to be true. These urges can feel as permanent as your DNA, keeping you stuck in old habits and sabotaging even the best-laid plans. In this episode, I share how shifting your perspective from seeing these habits as fixed traits to seeing them as urges completely changed how I approach personal transformation. From breaking free of the “I'm always tired” story to moving past a victim mentality and the “I'm a hot mess” identity, I walk through how to notice the urge, sit with it, and choose differently. By learning to observe and respond differently to your urges, you can build a version of yourself capable of achieving far more than you imagined. In this episode, Paul explores an often-overlooked factor in achieving financial success: boredom. He argues that boredom can lead to poor financial decisions, such as overspending or chasing "new" market strategies. People have a hard time staying the course and want to feel like active participants in improving their lives. Listen along as Paul explains why one of the hardest and best things you can do with your finances is not doing anything at all. Later in the episode, Paul explains why he thinks that an “equal-weighted” S&P 500 fund is a bad idea. Have you ever noticed how the energy you bring to a consult completely changes the conversation and the results? In this episode, I revisit one of the most foundational mindset shifts that transformed my coaching and sales: seeing every client as whole, capable, and perfect right now, regardless of their circumstances. When you speak to clients from their highest self, objections shrink, connection deepens, and you create consults unlike any conversation they've ever had before. You'll hear how to practice this mindset before every consult, why it's more impactful than any script or process, and how connecting with clients from this place of belief transforms your sales, your coaching, and the experience you offer. I also share examples from my own journey, from my first coaching calls with Brooke Castillo to working with clients today, illustrating how this simple shift can create extraordinary results and deeper fulfillment for both you and your clients. There's something that's quietly stealing joy from the military community and millions of Americans every single day. It's something that has completely warped our understanding of what financial success looks like. https://www.thrivetimeshow.com/ Use Code: Mel K In this inspiring episode of The Mel K Show, I am joined once again by my friend Clay Clark. Clay is a man who never stops encouraging people to take control of their lives, embrace discipline, and step into their God-given potential. This conversation is all about empowerment, self-reliance, and the practical steps that anyone can take to transform their financial future. Clay opens the discussion with a simple but profound truth: wealth is often hidden behind self-discipline. While that may not be what everyone wants to hear, it is exactly what we need to hear. Success is not handed out freely by the government or by a broken system. It is built through personal responsibility, vision, and the willingness to do the work others avoid. To illustrate this, Clay shares the story of a teacher named Margaret. She was deeply frustrated with the state of the education system and knew children could be taught in a better way. Despite having no business background, Margaret made the courageous choice to start her own tutoring business. She began at zero, walking her neighborhood with flyers and struggling to gain traction. But after attending one of Clay's conferences, she applied what she learned, stepped out in faith, and now has so many students that she is hiring and training five new tutors. Her story is a testament to the power of taking action, even when the odds seem stacked against you. Clay breaks down five specific points for listeners to apply in their own lives. He stresses that everyone watching or listening can see the problems in our society, but not everyone is willing to step up and be the solution. Those who do will discover that discipline, consistency, and creativity open doors to opportunities that once felt impossible. We discuss how people can reframe their perspective on work, wealth, and responsibility. Instead of waiting for outside forces to save us, we must take back the authority over our families, finances, and futures. This is not just about money. It is about freedom, independence, and the ability to live with integrity in a time when too many are pressured to conform or give up. Here is what you will learn in this episode: Why discipline is the key to unlocking wealth and opportunity How ordinary people can start businesses and change their futures The inspiring story of a teacher who built a thriving tutoring business from nothing Five practical steps to move from frustration to empowerment Why personal responsibility is the foundation of freedom This conversation will leave you motivated and equipped to stop waiting for change and start creating it. Clay Clark is a reminder that we each have more power than we realize, and when we combine that with faith, discipline, and action, the results can be extraordinary. It is time to stop depending on failing systems and to start depending on ourselves, our families, and our communities. You can be your own hero, and this episode will show you how.
What do restaurants and retirement planning have in common? More than you might think. In this episode, Mark uses memorable restaurant stories—from the days of smoking vs. non-smoking sections to “pick two” menu rules—to explain some of the most important lessons in investing. You'll never look at a menu, or your portfolio, the same way again. Here's some of what we discuss in this episode:
Have you ever felt like something is missing on your consult calls, even when your process is solid? I'm revisiting this conversation because connection on consults is one of the most overlooked yet powerful skills in coaching. When you show up fully present, engaged, and genuinely caring about the person on the other end of the call, everything changes—for them, and for your ability to guide, serve, and inspire. Connection isn't about a perfect script or following a step-by-step process. It's about fully seeing the human in front of you, believing in their potential, and holding a vision for them that's bigger than their doubts. In this episode, I dive into how to engage with clients so they feel heard, understood, and capable of transformation. You'll hear examples from real coaching situations that show how presence and energy on a consult make all the difference, and how tuning into shared humanity creates trust, engagement, and meaningful breakthroughs. In this activation you're going to experience something that typically takes years of psychological work, decades of financial conditioning, and lifetimes of evolutionary development. You're going to completely merge with the consciousness of your millionaire self and operate from that identity as your new baseline reality. Most people spend their entire lives trying to become wealthy while thinking from poverty consciousness. They work harder, learn new strategies, and take more action, but they never address the fundamental issue - their consciousness remains calibrated to limitation rather than abundance. This activation solves that problem by installing millionaire consciousness directly into your neural pathways. This is consciousness surgery - precision rewiring of your brain's default programming to match the neural patterns of someone who has accumulated over twenty million dollars and lives from unlimited abundance as their natural state.

Do you show up for every consultation with the same energy and level of service, no matter who's on the other side of the call? Most coaches treat consultations as a necessary step to getting paid, but they miss the opportunity to deliver one of the most valuable services they offer: the full experience of coaching. In this episode, I'm revisiting this important concept and breaking down why consultations should be viewed as a service, not just a sales call. When you approach consultations as a chance to truly serve your potential clients, regardless of their financial situation, you'll shift both your mindset and your business results. I'll share a conversation with a 2K for 2K student who almost wrote off a prospect based on financial assumptions, and how shifting into service energy completely changes the outcome. In this episode, I'll share why you should always give your best during consultations and how this mindset shift will serve you and your clients in the long run. Navigating Sudden Wealth and Money Mindset with Lisa Peterson of Wealth ClinicIn this episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur, host Josh Elledge speaks with Lisa Peterson, founder of Wealth Clinic, money coach, and author of The Money Catalyst: Your Guide to Prosperity, Freedom, and Living Your Best Life. Lisa shares how sudden wealth—whether from business success, inheritance, or windfalls—can trigger emotional and psychological challenges many people aren't prepared for. She offers a practical, mindset-first approach to managing newfound wealth, healing money wounds, and building long-term financial freedom through self-awareness and intentional strategy. Why Money Mindset Matters When Wealth Happens FastLisa explains that most people have never learned how to manage large sums of money, and when sudden wealth hits, it often brings stress, fear, and decision fatigue. She introduces the concept of evaluating your “money upbringing” and how subconscious beliefs—formed early in life—can drive behaviors like overspending, fear-based investing, or avoiding financial decisions altogether. Lisa emphasizes that before taking action with new wealth, you must pause, reflect, and understand your internal money narrative.Through her framework of eight catalysts for transformation, outlined in The Money Catalyst, Lisa helps individuals define their version of prosperity, shift limiting beliefs, and take aligned financial action. She and Josh discuss how wealth without emotional clarity can actually decrease quality of life, and how many high-income earners still live in scarcity due to unresolved internal patterns. Lisa encourages working with professionals who understand both the emotional and financial complexities of sudden wealth and building support systems that focus on education, strategy, and healing.Lisa also offers actionable steps for those navigating wealth transitions—from pausing before making decisions, to assembling a trusted advisory team, setting up financial guardrails, and creating a long-term vision. Most importantly, she reminds listeners that true prosperity isn't a number—it's the feeling of freedom, confidence, and alignment that comes from knowing you're using your wealth intentionally.About Lisa PetersonLisa Peterson is a money coach, business advisor, and founder of Wealth Clinic. Money is far more than mere digits in a bank account; it embodies our beliefs, upbringing, and the hidden narratives ingrained in our subconscious. These "money codes" are the silent scripts we absorb over time about wealth, self-worth, and what financial possibilities exist for us. Originating from family, culture, and past experiences, these codes shape how we earn, spend, and perceive money. Understanding these patterns marks the initial step toward financial empowerment. By recognizing and challenging outdated or limiting money codes, we gain the ability to rewrite them with conscious, aligned beliefs that foster abundance. Today, I invite you to explore this transformative process, which not only reshapes your relationship with money but also expands your capacity to attract and thrive in unexpected ways. In this solo episode, I'll be sharing insights on: - Energetic money practices that pave the way for unforeseen financial opportunities. - How ancestral, societal, and familial codes influence our sense of financial security and belonging. - Techniques for rewriting personal money codes to invite greater abundance, freedom, love, and self-expression. - Discovering how childhood wounds can reveal unique gifts and strengths. - Unpacking past-life experiences that may have instilled limiting beliefs about wealth. - Methods to amplify your magnetic energy and align with your soul's authentic path. Ever had an experience where someone made assumptions about your ability to buy before you even had the chance to speak? I recently walked into a high-end car dealership, dressed in designer clothes and driving a luxury vehicle, only to be met with repeated passive-aggressive questions about my budget. Despite showing clear signs of being a serious buyer, the salesperson's assumptions shut down the potential for any real connection. This situation highlights a critical mistake many coaches make in their businesses. The key to success in sales is simple: treat every potential client with the same level of respect and always deliver your best process, no matter your assumptions. In this episode, I'll share why showing up with integrity in every sales conversation, regardless of the prospect's situation, will transform both your income and your impact. How do you balance massive business growth with the demands of motherhood? After a year of extraordinary growth and transformation, I've discovered that the more abundance I create in my business, the more abundance flows into my home life, and vice versa. This realization has completely shifted how I approach both entrepreneurship and motherhood. As I prepare to welcome my second child and head into maternity leave, I'm reflecting on the massive shifts that have happened in my business and personal life over the past year. In this episode, I'm sharing the real journey of evolving from focusing on material success to finding deep contentment in both my family and my work. You'll discover how I've grown my business while actually reducing complexity, why I'm choosing lean operations over empire-building, and how celebration and desire have become my primary drivers instead of discipline and willpower. This is about creating sustainable success that honors all parts of who you are. If you want to start making serious money as a coach, you need to check out 2k for 2k. Right now, inside your skull, sits the most sophisticated wealth-creation machine ever designed. But here's what neuroscientists discovered when they put millionaire brains under advanced imaging technology - their neural networks fire in completely different patterns than everyone else's. When a millionaire sees a financial opportunity, specific clusters of neurons light up that remain completely dormant in average earners. When they process risk, different pathways activate. When they calculate time and money relationships, entirely separate neural networks engage. The wealthy don't just think different thoughts - they think with different parts of their brains. Dr. Sarah Chen's groundbreaking study at Stanford tracked neural activity in over 200 millionaires during financial decision-making tasks. The results shocked the research community. Millionaire brains showed massive activation in regions associated with pattern recognition, future planning, and reward calculation - while showing almost no activity in fear centers that dominate average earners' financial thinking. Your brain contains these same neural pathways. Every human brain does. But in most people, these wealth neurons remain dormant, inactive, waiting for the right activation sequence to bring them online. Wealth neurons are specialized neural networks that process financial information through multiplication rather than subtraction. When millionaires encounter money, these neurons automatically calculate growth potential, investment possibilities, and leveraging opportunities. When average earners encounter money, different neurons activate - ones focused on conservation, protection, and scarcity management. The difference is staggering. Brain scans show millionaires processing a $10,000 investment opportunity with neural patterns focused on how that money could become $100,000. Average earners process the same opportunity with neural patterns focused on how they might lose $10,000. Same information, completely different brain activation. These patterns can be implanted. Neuroscience proves that brains remain plastic throughout life, capable of rewiring at any age. The neural pathways that create millionaire thinking can be installed in any brain through targeted mental programming. In this episode we will implant the patterns of the millionaire mind. All you have to do is listen.
