We discuss, analyze, deconstruct, and reconstruct each episode of the series.
Nazis! Zeppelins! Bigotry! Dragons! WHEEEEEE!!!! It's the end of the road, folks. We're talking about the cataclysmic end of FMA 03, Conqueror of Shamballa. Al and Hughes are both sullied beyond repair. Lots of how's and why's here, BUT no explanations, no answers, and no satisfaction. We also take a look back at 03 as a whole and weep. Thank you to everyone who stuck with us during this journey. It was dark and unsavory at times, but we made it to the promised land. Again, thank you all for listen, and of course, keep it Fullmetal.Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
This is it folks, the end of the series proper. Episodes 50 Death and 51 Laws and Promises. The series ends with...an ending. We visit London during WW I, for funnies, Ed and Envy fight for Daddy's love, and we are left with the lingering question, did Hohenheim kill his double?Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
We are near the finish line folks! This week with episodes 48 Goodbye and 49 The Other Side of the Gate. Also, Archer makes his unnecessary return, Rose is victimized again, Dante is a cocky dumb pervert, and we go to the other side of the gate. Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
The Season of Woe continues to stumble to its conclusion with episodes 46, Human Transmutation, and 47 Sealing the Homunculus. Homunculi take center stage this week with Lust earning an MVP for the series, Wrath has a dream and its horrifying, and we consider the Life and Death of Sloth.Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
This season has been pretty dark, but fear not here is Ep 44 Hoheinhim of Light and Ep 45 Rotted Heart. Get ready to feel good about your life choices, because these episodes have very few. Hoheinhim creeps on the ladies, then he and Dante have a weird non-sexy reunion and talk about their mysterious past, and the infamous alchemy hair dye jobTwitter: @foreverfmaDiscord: https://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
Season 3 has taken FOR. EVER. This episode we discuss the landing of the trailer for the next TWO live actions adaptions as well as episode 42, The Stray Dog. We also discuss the lack of Greed merch, Hohenhiem being an utter creep, and Armstrong and Mustang debut their awesome new tag team finisher.Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
This Season of Woe gets back on/off track with episodes 41, Holy Mother, and 42, His Name is Unknown. Also, Kimblee and Scar play murder tag, we debate if losing limbs make you faster, and why is Lust white if she was Ishvalan? Oh, right. It's bullshit.
That's right! We still have a show after another hiatus. This week we are looking at episodes 39/40 Secret of Isabel and The Scar. We also discuss what the definition of a him-bo is, Mustang's team still bullying a child, and how Wrath spends his free time. It's gross.
We are really scrapping the bottom this week with episodes 37: The Flame Alchemist, The Bachelor Lieutenant & The Mystery of Warehouse 13 and 38: With the River's Flow. For some reason we also discuss Ambrose's scabs, Hawkeye being into feet (not that there is anything wrong with that), and Armstrong's sister, the other one. Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
Oh boy, our next existential crisis. In episodes 35 Reunion of the Fallen and 36 The Sinner Within, Lust has an existential crisis AND GETS EMO, we meet our next forgettable character, Envy is edgy AF, and this episode is ripping off Dolly Parton.Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
This week we hit a few more familiar beats with Episodes 33 Al, Captured (great title for his memoir) and 34 Theory of Avarice (the theory is Greed smokes to look cool). We also discuss the wasted potential of Dante, Armstrong at a rave, Kimblee being a gross disappointment, everything Archer does illegal, and Ed murders with logic.
In a special side episode, Jodie and I discuss the feature "film", The Sacred Star of Milos. This movie has everything, generic characters, no homunculi, and multiple identity reveals! But, seriously, who is this movie for?
This week we wrap up the Arc of Why, because asking that question has become pointless. In episodes 31 Sin and 32 Dante of the Deep Forest we learn that Envy is awful, gross, and a predator of children, Jodie proves she understands what's happening, and enter Dante OOOooooOOOOooooo!!!
This week is just gross. The Why Arc is in full(metal) swing with episodes 29 "Untainted Child" and 30 "Assault on South HQ." This week we learn why Winry is here, Wrath is just generally awful in ALL aspects, and we get our first look at the 2003 Gate of Truth (Lies). A lot of awfulness in this one, folks.
Our Season of Woe continues into what we shall call the Why Arc. Why is this happening? Why does any this matter? With episodes 27 Teacher and Ep 28 One is All and All is One, we discuss Al mansplaining, Jodie and I have an aside, and we meet the focal point of the Why Arc, Nega-Ed.Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
Our Season of Woe continues with episodes 25 Words of Farewell and 26 Her Reason. This week we also ask where are all the foreign homunculi, we feel nothing for Mustang, Hughes sees through the lies and dies, and the homunculi are terrible at planning.Twitter @foreverfmahttps://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
This week we revisit the Emo Al Saga with episodes 23 Fullmetal Heart and 24 Bonding Memories. Also this week Al doesn’t care about Ed or the lives of those prisoners, we witness hate crimes, the conclusion of the Barry the Chopper's story, and we have one of the most ridiculous moments in FMA history."Don’t bullshit me, it's magic!" - Ambrose
This week our 03 path starts to really diverge from our BH path with Episodes 21 The Red Glow and 22 Created Human. We also discuss the nightmare that is Scar's brother walking around naked, the return of Tucker, and military issued pajamas. It's a good time.
Woe is us as our Season of Woe continues with Episode 19 Truth Behind the Truth (minus any Truth) and Episode 20 Soul(s) of the Guardian(s). This week Ambrose has a new title, the fabled word ball appears, Scar is discovered to be a magician, and the plot and music fail to make sense on many levels.Twitter: @foreverfmaDiscord: https://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
Our Season of Woe trudges along with Ep 17 House of the Waiting Family and Ep 18 Marcho’s Notes. This week we discuss my prom look, Ed having abs, the new worthless body guards to create more emotion, and Ambrose is sweaty.
This week, in our Season of Woe, we take a look at a couple more repeats with Episodes 15 The Ishval Massacre and 16 That Which is Lost. Also this week, I have questions about the criminal activities of Tom Nook, Kimblee gets erotic, Mustang is revealed to be a murderer and generally awful, and Ambrose's stupid boy collection grows.Be sure to check us out on our Discord! https://discord.gg/5MJAzQVAwU
In this week's installment of our Season of Woe, we discuss episodes 13 Fullmetal vs Flame and 14 Destruction’s Right Hand. We also discuss Havoc being on the sh*t list, the lack of social distancing, and the bullying of Mustang and company. It's a sad business. To all our listeners, thank you for all of your support. Please have a safe and happy holiday season and of course, keep it FULLMETAL.
This week, the Season of Woe become the Season of No. Ambrose and I discuss episodes 11 &12, The Other Elric Brothers. We also discuss my non-appeal to our female audience, Al gets hate-crimes, and we hear the thrilling epic tale, Ambrose vs Pigeon.
Our Season of Woe continues as Jodie and I discuss the mess and nonsense that is Episodes 9 "Be Thou for the People" and 10 "The Phantom Thief." Frankly, I sigh a lot. We also have the introduction of Lyra, the Karen of FMA, Malchemy is now a thing, and we have a Fullmetal tit squeeze. Yeah, that happened.
This week in our Season of Woe Jodie, Ambrose, and I discuss Episode 7 Night of the Chimera’s Cry and 8 The Philosopher’s Stone. We touch on the Tucker tragedy remix with magic doors and his wall circles, as well as Michael saving Halloween, this noise that Ambrose makes, smoking, and general bitterness.
The Season of Woes continues with episodes 5 "The Man with the Mechnical Arm" 6 "The Alchemist Exam." This week we learn the many names of Roy Mustang and enter Shou Tucker. We also discuss Mustang's lack of a plan, the dumbest chair ever, and we find out what Ambrose smells like.
The season of woe finds a bright spot as we welcome our friend Jodie back to the show while we discuss episodes 3: Mother and 4: A Forger's Love. We also discuss how I owned Twitter and not the other way around, ships that need to sink, and our first donut episode and it's awful.
Our pallets are cleansed and ready to take a stiff sip of the first anime adaption of Fullmetal Alchemist from 2003. This week we will discuss the first two episodes, "Those Who Challenge the Sun" and "The Sanctioned Body." We also discuss dental issues, the pain and anger of doing this, and the bloom is off the Rose in seconds. This season is going to hurt.
We have finally reached the end of the road of Season 2 folks. Consider our pallets cleansed. This week Ambrose and I take a Re:Zero Quiz, brought to you by Echidnut on YouTube, we discuss our mental health analysis of the characters, Top Ten Moments, we discuss the madness of the OVA Snow Memory, unanswered questions, and my new anime vocab. See you folks in Season 3!
Here it is folks, the end of the road (for now) for our boy Subes and our pallet cleaner season with episode 25, ""That's All This Story Is About." To be honest, I am not entirely sure what this story was actually about. This week we also discuss the possibility of eunuchs being in this show, the excuse of magic begins the wear thin, and I talk about my having been recently assaulted by a butterfly. It's an action packed episode.
In the penultimate episode of our second season we watch episode 24 "The Self Proclaimed Knight and the Greatest Knight" of RE:Zero. We come to the realization that Subes has been suffered numerous instances of of sexual harassment, Puck is punk but not helpful, and thigh muscles make Ambrose uncomfortable.
This season is reaching its crescendo as Subes and company make adjustments to dealing with the Witches Cult is Episode 23 "Nefarious Sloth." We also discuss the knights and cults needing to get new looks, neither is working for 2020. Apparently Puck has accessories that I never noticed and Ambrose feels bad about a bee. It's a variety.
This week, Ambrose and I start hitting the final stretch of of Re:Zero with Episode 22 "A Flash of Sloth."We get the debut of Jewels, the alter ego of Julius, and I try to let it go. We also see signs of character growth, Petelgeuse gives everyone the "finger", and I learn what a loli is and I feel gross about it.
As we continue our pallet cleanser season of Re:Zero, we watch episode 21 "A Wager that Defies Despair." The title is not great, but there we are. This week we also get reminded that Wilhelm was a real POS as a youte, that magic in this show is vague, and I majorly crush on Crusch. Stay tuned after the episode for a special segment called "Jodie vs the Post Office."
This week Ambrose and I get a better understanding of Wilhelm is apptly titled episode 20 "Wilhelm van Astrea." We also discuss my spirit animal skills, anime jumps, Ambrose and I have our second year podcast anniversary, and after the episode stick around for the very first round of "Who does Ambrose know?"
This week, good ol' Subes is starting to shine up his turd of a personality in Episode 19 "Battle of the White Whale." Ambrose and I also discuss her having trouble sleeping for…reasons, Russell Fellow, dirtbag about town, Ambrose learns something about Jewish culture, and we meet the new Buccaneer.
This week Ambrose, myself, and our boy Subes finally get over and motional hump in Episode 18 "From Zero." Also this week we have some premeditated complaints, Rem thinks about her retirement, we ask what the chicken nugget situation is in Anime (this is a boob talk heavy episode), Ambrose encounters a spider, and I make my expectations of Subaru very clear.
This week, Ambrose and I discuss Episode 17 "Disgrace in the Extreme." A fitting name for Subes current character arc. We also meet the White Whale, Otto gets a Yelp Review of 5/5 worthless sacks of sh*t, the Witch is creeping', and we ponder the age old question, do insects have brains? (Yes, they do.)
For the first time, I pre-watched an episode and...it was regrettable. This episode, Greed of a Pig, is a smorgasbord of Subes really licking the side of the toilet bowl this week and everyone is pointing it out to him. It’s really bad. Meanwhile, Ambrose and I also discuss Ambrose’s position on tassels, I explain what WASPs are, and we consider the possibility of Dark Pope Ambrose.
Things just keep getting weirder and sadder for our boy Subes as he has a mild case of sad-broken brain. In episode 15 "The Face of Madness", he meets Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti, the Archbishop of Sloth, the main antagonist of the season and he is gross. We also discuss Demi-human shoes, the fact that knives and swords do not grow on trees, and Rem's armpit hair. A well rounded show if I do say so myself.
This week Subes continues to swirl the bottom of the bowl in episode 14 "The Sickness Called Despair." Also, Ambrose knows how to break the ice, Crusch has a drink with Subes, offers him some solid advice, and we determine that form + function = hat.
This week Ambrose and I watch episode 13 "Self-Proclaimed Knight Natsuki Subaru" and....it's bad. Subaru invokes that feeling when you want to unzip your skin, crawl away, and die alone. It’s legitimately painful to watch. Also, we meet the candidates for the throne, we learn about their political plans for the country, we discuss the importance of context, and Subes straight up gets a whoopin'.
Just when I think we have met the most absurd characters of the series, I got bamboozled by more ridiculous personalities and general awkwardness. In this episode, Ambrose and I watch episode 12 "Return to the Capital." I discover that dragons (dinosaurs) are a common thing in this world, we are introduced to several new characters, many of whom are awful, Adam is still an S.O.B., and Subes needs to dial it way back or he is heading to HR.
This week Ambrose and I get a glimpse into the past of our favorite demon maids, a sentence I never thought I'd write, with episode 11 "Rem." We also discuss one of Ambrose's last pieces of Greed art, we throw our non-financial support behind PBS, Subes creeps, and I speak directly to Japanese companies.
This week, Ambrose and I watch along episode 10, that's right episode 10 "Fanatical Methods Like a Demon." We have somehow been watching this show for 10 weeks. At this point we are discussing breathing in your own spit, more of my various beefs with real/fake people, and Rem learns the value of teamwork. Stick around after the credits for some supplemental action. Mmmm, I love me some supplemental.
This week Ambrose and I watch episode 9, "The Meaning of Courage." Ambrose also shares with us her recent visit to the gym, we discuss horses, and the clear fact that children don't deserve victory. Also, I notice something and feel creepy.
Post-holidays, Ambrose and I catch up without guy, Subes. Ambrose tells the tale of her messing with a scammer and a thief, I learn that by season's end I will be even more enraged, and I learn more about Ambrose's eating habits.
This week, Ambrose and I watch episode 7, Natsuki Subaru's Restart, and let me tell you, Sube's is starting to get deep into it. Within minutes of each other, he realizes he cares too much and and has nothing to live for, leading to a very obvious death #7. While this is happening Roswell continues to be a clown and Ambrose and I have a duel of names. It's a hodgepodge of an episode.
To kickoff the holiday season, Ambrose tries something new live on recording for our enjoyment. Ambrose and I also watch RE:ZERO episode 6 The Sound of Chains. We discuss the British perspective of Thanksgiving, Ambrose wanting to like tea, and I learn a few Japanese phrases. Oh, and apparently curses are different from magic for some reason. I disagree.
Something is a miss here at FMF, because we aren't watching anime this week. We are watching Steven Universe: The Movie. With this being my introduction to this universe, I have questions for Ambrose, like what is this, what is happening, and huh? We also discuss how Spinel was used and discarded by Steven and his mom, how scythes are terrible weapons, and the rampant bias in this movie.
We are keeping it rolling with the aftermath of death...5? Let's go with that. This is a very clothing-centered episode, specifically because Roswell is a predator of the worst kind. This week I get paranoid and we (Ambrose and I) discuss what would my dog would do if I died. We also through out the idea of medication helping out our boy Subaru's anxiety and ADHD. Just a thought.
