Looks Unfamiliar is a podcast in which writer and occasional broadcaster Tim Worthington talks to a guest about some of the things that they remember that nobody else ever seems to.Joining Tim this time is musician, comedian and writer Mitch Benn, who's tuning in that mysterious extra button on his television in search of any trace of Channel 4's pre-launch promotional trailers, Imagination by Belouis Some, Space Sentinels, Simon Dutton's turn as The Saint, How To Be A Complete Bastard by Adrian Edmondson and The Six Million Dollar Man's toy adversary Maskatron. Along the way we'll be profiling the ubiquity in popular drama of the Glen Matlock Face, finding out How To Be A Complete Bastard In Space, considering whether Astrea from Space Sentinels is 'above' pants and waiting eagerly for the repeat broadcast of Three Women Including Juliet Bravo singing that W-O-M-A-N song. You can find more editions of Looks Unfamiliar at http://timworthington.org. MONEY FM 89.3 - Prime Time with Howie Lim, Bernard Lim & Finance Presenter JP Ong
It’s a deep dive into the private equity landscape as we speak to an investment firm that’s indirectly owned by Temasek Holdings. Set up in 2015, our guest Azalea Investment Management defines itself as being in the business of PE investments, with a focus on the development and innovation of new investment platforms and products. The firm said its goal is to bring private assets to a wider investor base through a phased approach, while educating the investing public at the same time. Azalea Investment Management achieves this through two investment programmes or platforms, (1) the Altrium programme as well as the (2) Astrea Platform. Under the Altrium programme, accredited investors can co-invest with Azalea and access strong performing private equity fund managers globally, but with lower barriers to entry. The Astrea Platform, on the other hand, is a series of investment products developed based on diversified portfolios of PE funds. The platform is said to target long-term minded investors including Singapore retail investors looking to co-invest in private equity with the asset managers. But why are we speaking to Azalea Investment Management you might ask? Well the firm had closed a number of funds of late. In July 2024, the firm’s Astrea 8 PE bonds closed 2.8 times subscribed at over S$1 billion, with bonds distributed to diversified investors across institutions such as endowments, pensions and insurance companies as well as accredited investors. More recently, it had in October closed two funds at over US$480 million as a whole, higher than the US$400 million target for both funds combined. But how does the firm assess the outlook for private markets in 2025 and what is next for its product line up? On Under the Radar, The Evening Runway’s finance presenter Chua Tian Tian posed these questions to Chue En Yaw, Chief Investment Officer, Azalea Investment Management.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Astrea is the publishing arm of Atlas V that aims to close the current gap in distribution for immersive stories that debut on the film festival circuit, but then often don't make it wider distribution. There's a lot of optimization, porting, and marketing involved in this process, and I had a chance to catch up with Astrea's head of distribution Danielle Giroux to talk about their curation and publishing process as well as some selections from their full lineup. We also talk about other distribution options for immersive stories including projection mapped experiences and location-based entertainment. Distribution is one of the biggest open problems for these immersive stories, and Giroux talks about how the festival debut is just the very beginning of the life cycle for an immersive story and how they're taking a bespoke process for each story that's in their line-up.
Myriam Achard is the Chief of New Media Partnership as well as PR Officer at Montreal's Phi Centre. Part of Achard's job is to travel around the work searching for the best immersive storytelling, art, music at festivals and gatherings around the world. She's on the lookout for new talent to bring to the Phi Centre, but also help make connections for immersive artists who are trying to find a viable pathway from immersive festivals into the broader consumer market via location-based experiences and museum contexts like the ones that Achard has been helping to create. It's a vital bridge from the immersive festival circuit into a more bespoke phase of LBEs and museums before these pieces can be more fully optimized, ported, and marketed to a broader consumer audience in the process that Astrea's Danielle Giroux broke down to me in a previous episode. Phi Studio was a key collaborator with Felix & Paul in bringing The Infinite location-based experience to audiences in Montreal, Houston, Tacoma/Seattle, and San Francisco as I explored in a conversation with Phi Studio executive producer Julie Tremblay. Achard was also instrumental in bringing Punchdrunk's Believe Your Eyes to an Phi Gallery exhibition in Venice during Venice VR Expanded (now Venice Immersive) in 2019. She said that the pandemic slowed down a number of other location-based experiences they were planning on launching in 2020, and so their LBE has slowed down a little bit, but they continue to travel with The Infinite and continue to travel with Alejandro G. Iñárritu's CARNE y ARENA. Overall, Archard is one of the leading immersive storytelling curators in the world as the Phi Centre continues to bring some of the most cutting-edge and award winning immersive art to Montreal and increasingly other locations around the world. She is proving that audiences are hungry for and really resonate with these types of immersive stories, immersive art, and immersive experiences outside of the festival context, and I'm really exited to hear more about their plans to expand their physical footprint in 2026 and continue to produce experiences, cultivate emerging talent, and curate the best of from the festival circuit. Author/Artist Astrea Taylor and Author Jason Mankey return to discuss their latest release, Modern Witchcraft with the Greek Gods. From Llewellyn: A Witch's 21-Century Guide to Making Magick with the Greek Gods The ancient Greek gods surround us even now in our modern world. From Aphrodite to Zeus, this book reveals the origins of more than sixty deities and other mythological figures, including the Olympians, Titans, and Primordial Forces. Explore how they've been worshipped across the centuries and how you can work with them in your own practice. You'll meet the gods one by one, exploring their history, unique correspondences, and personal insights from contributing authors who work with them magickally. This book also provides rituals and spells to connect with each deity. Draw down the moon with Selene, cast a courage spell with Ares, and reclaim lost parts of yourself with a ritual for Persephone. By inviting these divine beings into your practice, you can cultivate a magickal life that satisfies your soul to its very core. Astrea Taylor is an eclectic pagan witch. Christina (She/Her) returns and she has brought us the short-lived 1977 cartoon Space Sentinels. Astrea, Hercules, and Mercury are three immortal beings with godly powers who live on a spaceship in the bottom of a dormant volcano. Their computer Sentinel 1 sends them out on missions like investigating a multi-dimensional cube and finding the stolen North Pole. We discuss the history of animation studio Filmmation, how the show changed its name from Young Sentinels to Space Sentinels to capitalize on the Star Wars craze, showing your dad a cool rock you found, and yogurt. When I talked to Ernest Yip last month, I was crazy excited to learn about his fantasy novel, The Shattered King, an allegory about the attributes of God. Ernest talks about his inspiration, how he got started, and what's coming next for us. I loved hearing more about the story and my copy is on its way to me now. EEEP! Listen in to learn more. Note: links are affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Experience the Attributes of God in a Whole New Way In the tradition of Pilgrim's Progress or the parables of Jesus, Ernest Yip brings us a story that introduces to a King like no other through the various attributes our main character meets through out the book. I love a good allegory, and listening to Ernest talk about his book had me choming at the bit to get started. Though written for teens, The Shattered King is sure to appeal to anyone who loves fantasy and adventure. I especially love how it is a great introduction to who God is without being a heavy or preachy tome of apologetics. Instead, we're taken on an adventure to discover it all for ourselves. I can't wait to see what Yip does next! The Shattered King by Ernest Yip Finding his way home means finding something else first—someone else. When a dark force shatters the benevolent and mighty king Eloa, the land of Astrea lies broken and dying. Though Eloa lives, he is a shadow of his true self, unable to restore his kingdom unless he is reunited with the living Fragments of his being and made whole again. Catapulted into this unfamiliar world and gifted with a magical sword, teenager Jax faces the ultimate test—finding the lost Fragments of Eloa. Only by fulfilling this quest will he be able to return home. But there are new forces in power, forces that will do whatever it takes to thwart Jax's efforts and defeat Eloa. But Jax will soon find that Eloa is no ordinary king, and neither are his Fragments— A creator of living stone beings A father of orphans in a storm-filled land A desert warrior of limitless power And they aren't the only ones out there… Encounter the Fragments of The Shattered King, a tale of danger and discovery that explores timeless truths about the world we live in, where justice and mercy are sometimes the most powerful weapons.
