This is a funny, sweet, sad storytelling podcast where a genius, a storyteller, and a buffoon attempt to reconcile their tastes and aspirations with the fact that, for now, and for reasons, they live as they do. The world is a puzzle that can be solved, but you have to work at it. It’s a grind. Talking the things that annoy, amuse, confuse, and bedazzle you through is part of the alchemy that spins your lead into gold. This is us trying to do that. Except, at the end of the day, that’s all b******t. And you can’t just hope that it will work out. You have to push and push and push, except when you don’t. And that’s when you have to just shrug it off and believe that it will probably be ok.
More than a year behind schedule, please join our hosts for a frank and candid discussion about travel, privilege, and serendipity.
What is pizza? Where did it come from? Why do we eat it? And is it even real? Get your ninja turtle on and enjoy some Pizza with the fine hosts of this program, who probably come the closest they've ever come to hanging up on each other on this controversial topic. Pizza? Is it real?
He's got your number now. He knows just what you've done. You've got no place to hide. You've got nowhere to run. He knows your life of crime. I think it's suppertime! IT'S SUPPERTIME. YEAH IT'S SUPPERTIME. OH, IT'S SUP-SUP- SUPPERTIME, VERY BEST TIME OF DAY.
In this episode of simples aranged podcast-wise, we consider the things that we choose, the things that we didn't, and all the ways it probably doesn't matter. Spoiler warning. This one has ennui. Recorded Mid March, 2021.

In this IT WILL PROBABLY BE OK AUDIO JOURNAL: Some people are born to do the unpleasent things that others won't do. Me? I pick up dog shit.
This episode of It Will Probably Be OK reveals the secret behind the "brown drink." We're talking coffee. it's coffee talk. Talk coffee with us. From the Caffeefee of presidential mysteries of the past to the highly controversial mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, this is hot coffee. Be careful, the contents inside this cup are hot. The Best part of waking up. It's coffee talk.
In this episode of it will probably be okay… in the wake of the “Big Game” on Sunday … today’s topic is SPORTS! Today, each of us will take our own unique look at these children’s games which occupy a massive place in our national and truly worldwide conversation. Maybe too large a place. So grab your glove, put on your helmet and let us diagram today’s play … a discussion, or actually three discussions, of sports.
What kind of an arrow goes in a circle? Geometry means things on this episode of It Will Probably Be OK. This is a particularly spectacular load of refreshing goodness. Its time for a little refresh. Clean things up. Make things shiny. Maybe too shiny. OH NO WE'VE GONE TOO FAR ... Recorded on Feb. 2, 2021.
This is the second in our series of off the cuff, spontaneous podcast journals. Our hosts (mostly Gabe) take a minute to ramble about something and see what comes out. Then they share it with you. *This time: The Credibility Bookshelf vs. Authenticity. *
Welcome to It Will Probably Be Okay: Journals. Off the cuff extemporaneous speaking with words and passion. This is a short journal entry on the impact that I see the ongoing COVID-19 panic having on the children I work with. Not specifically, but as a whole generation. I should probably emphasize that. This essay represents my own views and not the views of my employers or the liscencing board which hodls my professional credentials. Maybe if you're going to put this disclaimer on it, you shoudn't publish it.
No new epsidode this week. Sorry not sorry. However, we pay for this service so we figure we'd better use it. Also, we love our listeners. Season 2 of "It Will Probably Be Ok" is coming soon, but until then, I want you to enjoy this outtake from S01E11 A moral decision (http://www.itwillprobablybeok.com/11). It's got spoilers for the end of "Avengers: Endgame" but like, so did the 2020 Elections. **¯_(ツ)_/¯*
See what we did with the title there? We made it a Long Election. With all those E's. Aren't we clever? We didn't want to record a podcast about the Election. But on Nov. 5, we did anyway. Well, some of us did. And it didn't work out great. There were problems. 1. There was no way to know how this one would age, but we knew it would age quickly. 2. There was no way to know how we would feel about it later, but we knew we would feel differently. 3. There was no way to know that Gabe's track would be recorded by the onboard microphone in the world's cheapest webcam and therefore, make the discussion section completely unlistenable. Portions of Gabe's side of the conversation section of this episode were re-performed in order to make them listenable. It's an unusal episode, but at least it's short.
Let’s talk about Curfews. Spoiler: Curfews create crime. Heads up: I know swearing is not unusual for this show. But this one seems to have an extraordinary amount of swears. Just FYI. Lots of appropriately wielded grown-up language in this episode.* In this episode of It Will Probably Be OK, we put aside our lingering anxiety about that darn pandy and spend some quality time instead worrying about police brutality, white supremacy, and what you should do when someone orders you to go home. Let’s talk about Curfews. Do they Work? Are they simply an escalation of the police state? And what impact do they have on crime reduction? Mini Topics * Nick observes that in a 20-year-long mirror, the tradition of wearing a date’s underwear on the outside of their suit coat seems surprisingly weird. * Nkenge wants to talk about egg nog -- specifically how well egg nog holds it’s liquor. From there, we forget to come home before dark. And oh, boy. It does get dark.
Recorded on 10/20/2020 With the pandemic rearing and the US teetering on fascism, how has that changed how you seek to entertain yourselves? What are you doing now that you weren't doing before the pandy? What were you doing before the pandy that you can no longer stomach now? This is somehow more than a recommendation show. It's also a reckoning of the things that no longer bring us joy with the things we're not ready to throw out. Eat Shit, Marie Kondo. Join three friends as they make recommendations for books, music, film, television, social media, hobbies that can help our listeners make a great escape from real life.
Pandenostication is not a real word, but many people seem to be doing it right now. What is the future of our world post-pandemic? How will our thoughts and prayers manifest in a world that has completely solved the Covid-19? Will it be as embarrassing to be still fighting Covid-19 in 2022 as it was to run Windows 98 in 2010? Never name your product with the year it was created, folks. It’s automatically dated. Right now, it seems hard to believe, but someday, this pandemic will end. What does a post-pandemic world look like? On this episode of It Will Probably Be OK, we take a look at four aspects of society, and we are going to forecast how things might change in these areas after the pandemic is over, whenever that may be. But before we jump in, we must acknowledge that health experts say we are in for a very dark winter. Here in Wisconsin, we are currently the national epicenter of Covid-19. We are seeing record case numbers on an almost daily basis and will soon see the opening of a large field hospital on our state fairgrounds. While today, we think about the world post-pandemic, we are not there yet. Wash your hands, keep a safe distance, and avoid unnecessary outings.
Sometime last May, Nick, Nkenge and Gabe talked for a while about Multi-Level Marketing. Mini-Topics: Nkenge: LinkedIn somehow gets the blame for a shady marketer's hamfisted attempt to put her in their downstream. Gabe: It's been 60 days of quarantein. (We were not kidding about this being recoded in May.)
_This episode was originally recorded and edited in May of 2020. _ Is it Throwback Thursday already? No! This is one of those episodes that fancy podcasters record and put them in a bank for when things get wacky. Oh, in case you haven't been paying attention to the news, things are getting real wacky here in our home state of Wisconsin. So here's an evergreen episode, as evergreen as we're capable of making, anyway. Join us as we consider Cheesy Action Movies and why they make us feel so good.
Music is a powerful and perhaps the most powerful medium in the world. It has the near universality of mathematics and the heart and soul of each and every culture that participates in it. Today on it will probably be ok, a genius, a buffoon, and a storyteller get out of our way so that our intrepid hosts can share the songs that mean something to them. It Will Probably Be OK also has a podcast! STREAM IT NOW! (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0KrnWXhvkuznLN9SRh6ea7?si=hlZrraBQQdWowNzkHry0zQ) Minitopics. Nick tells us about the best ice cream he's ever eaten. Nkenge dislikes that "new construction" smell. Gabe plugs "You Are Not So Smart," the podcast, not the lifestyle-choice. Recorded Sept. 20, 2020 All referenced recordings are copyright their respective artists and labels. And there are better recordings that these anyway.
Recorded on 9/9/2020: Nick considers the moral implications of casting a ballot In the space of the next sixty-ish days, Americans with voting rights will get to decide who will be our president for the next four years. Does your vote cary a moral weight? Is it fair to hold those who would vote for one thing accountable for all the other things that the candidate they voted for does? Are feelings real? Is casting your vote a moral decision or an amoral decision? Mini-Topics: Nkenge: Waiting for the worms to come, the spice must flow. Gabe: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Recorded on Sept. 1, 2020 Wait, wait, wait... Positivity can be toxic? What in the seven secret herbs and spices does that mean? Join our panel of genius, buffoon, and storyteller as they unravel the ideas that drive the positivity that poisons. Also: Mini Topics * Nick enjoys McDonald's breakfast. So do half of his children. Maybe. * Nkenge cannot unsubscribe from audible. Literally.
This episode was recorded on June 2, 2020 and on September 1, 2020. Just after Memorial Day, we were watching people all over the world standing up in response to the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department by declaring, once again, for everyone to hear: Black. Lives. Matter. We didn't know if we could do a show on that topic. We didn't know if we could have a conversation about something so incredibly fraught with potential to alienate, hurt, and put a potential wedge between the genouis, the storyteller and the baffoon whose conversations drive this podcast. So we agreed, to just talk. Record some thoughts. And then, as people started to forget, and the protests, although they continued, were loosing media coverage and helping all the streights to forget that the United States is awash in systemic white supremicy and racist policies, a kenosha police officer fired seven shots into the back of Jacob Blake. And so we thought it would make sense to release our formative thoughts on the topic, recorded back when we were a baby podcast, just getting our feet wet and trying to feel our way out.
Update on 8/31/2020 Things changed since this recording. If you care to know, Gabe's back at school with students starting Sept. 3. Recorded on 08/18/2020 A storyteller, a genius, and a buffoon consider the one thing everybody who has ever lived or will ever live will face one day: Death Nkenge organizes a frank and thoughtful discussion on the nature of grief, grieving, and death. Gabe and Nick talk about their experiences with grief and loss; there is a surprising amount of levity for such a topic. Don't skip this one, folks. It's magic. Mini-Topics: * Nick: Which email Nick gives you says a lot about your relationship with him. * Gabe: Jefferson County is full of Rat Lickers. * Nkenge: What to do then about the scourge of spam texts? What do they want from us?
Recorded on 08/11/2020 Trigger warning: his episode of “It Will Probably Be OK” contains the expression of ideas that are contrary to the recommendations of the American Dental Association. Today, on It Will Probably Be OK, We consider social media … the good, the bad, and the ugly. Nick has been hating on Social Media since Nkenge was sneaking into chatrooms back in the day, and Gabe plays his Old Man Card (tm) quickly and new and inscrutable ways. Finally, we take a look at all the ways your favorite new media has become the same old old media, and why we still play in Facebook's walled garden. But first:** Mini Topics** Nkenge experiences a jacked jack. Gabe explains how Loud Pipes fight cavities.
*Recorded on Aug.3, 2020 * Gabe goes on a very long walk to make to some pretty simple connections between the nature of truth and the trust we have in it. But, boy-houdy, it's not the destination that matters, it's how you get there. Join us as we learn about the celocanth, the half-life of truth, and non-neutonian states of being. There is also some dentist-bashing. Mini Topics Nick wants you to stop and apreciate the humble O'possom, bald-tailed, snarl-toothed eater of ticks. Nkenge needs some help clearing out her inbox. Gabe suggests bankrupsy. Gabe sent a letter to the local health department.
This episode was recorded on July 28, 2020. Nkenge leads us in a conversation about the the things you wish you'd have known as you made your way into adulthood. And about the idea that Adulthood always seems so far away. What is adulthood anyway? And what does it have to do with work? And why was being a teenager so rad? Meanwhile: Nick thinks you should consider the parasitic nature of your relationship with Amazon. Gabe wants you to know that there is such a thing as a magic racoon that has shapeshifting powers centered in its giant balls Nkenge is tricked into buying a $9 can of beer, and Gabe and Nick pretend that they've never spent as much, but admit they have, and probably more. All this, and more.
Recorded on July 21, 2020 In this episode, we dive into the world of work, and all the dumb things we did when we first got there. It's embarrassing job stories from all three hosts all the way down. Mini Topics Nkenge calls shenanigans on Portland Moms, reminding us that Black moms have always been part of the BLM movement. Gabe promotes Cory Doctorow's "Little Brother" as a prediction and a survival tool for the current political landscape.
In this episode of “It Will Probably Be OK,” we stand slack-jawed as one of our hosts attempts to defend the indefensible, and halt the Karen uprising in its tracks. What can we learn from Karen? What does she have to teach us? How do we exorcise the Karenonic demon? When is a Karen not a Karen? And why does Karen Karen? Mini Topics Nick is not going to his 20 year high school reunion and he has no other way to find out what his old highschool buddies are doing with their lives! Nkenge reminds us that there is no path from student to citizen for immigrants, so making them take college from their home countries is so much pointless bullying. Show Notes: This is a pretty good look at the internet history of the use of the name Karen as an insult: https://www.vox.com/2020/2/5/21079162/karen-name-insult-meme-manager A clip from “Mean Girls.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXovJSCc6M0 This is, pretty much the Karen epicenter. https://www.reddit.com/r/FuckYouKaren/ This is a great article about how artists hate the bourgeoisie. https://www.nytimes.com/1998/07/25/books/class-lessons-who-s-calling-whom-tacky-petite-charm-bourgeoisie-artists-view.html #### Personality Disorders https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/borderline-personality-disorder/index.shtml' https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/personality-disorders/symptoms-causes/syc-20354463 Not a Karen Here be a small smattering of easy to Google stories about Amy Cooper, the racist who famously called the police on a Central Park birdwatcher and then choked her dog. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/statement-from-amy-cooper-on-central-park-incident-301065492.html https://www.forbes.com/sites/jemimamcevoy/2020/07/06/amy-cooper-charged-with-misdemeanor-for-calling-police-on-black-bird-watcher/#1babddfc2828 https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/27/nyregion/amy-cooper-christian-central-park-video.html
In this Episode of It Will Probably Be OK, Nkenge talks through the ideas of defunding and abolishing the police. Additionally, Nick wistfully remembers making those cool S’s, and Gabe derails the whole conversation with so he can talk about the movie “Elf.” Mini Topics: * Nick enjoys the television program “Dave” on the FX Network. * Gabe wants someone to paint his gold house. In this episode, we discuss the titular question posed by this podcast: Will it probably be OK? Will it? Do we believe that? Is America capable of turning the cultural dumpster fire it was founded on into something that we can all live with? Mini Topics: * Gabe talks about his dog and how very very special he is. * Nkenge tells the story of responding to racists head on.
