Adam Forrest Kay is the author of Escape From Shadow Physics, a rip-roaring tour through the history of physics that suggests the quantum world might be a lot less legible than anyone realizes. Much of his work is informed by the logic of Hydrodynamic Quantum Analogs, which are classical systems whose behavior can be described by same mathematics that's used for quantum mechanics. Kay makes the case that if a classical system, made of materials and substances, can be described by the same statistical mathematics, that it's possible the quantum intuition that reality dissolves into a sea of probabilities and wave functions is just straight up wrong. We explore how the mechanics of droplets bouncing on surfaces recapitulates the mathematics of quantum mechanics, what it means for a classical system to behave like a quantum one, how pilot wave theory fits into the story, and why this isn't front page news for every science magazine in the world. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Metaphysical Sciences, a BSc in Geography, MSc in Psychology, MSc in Management, a diploma in Acting and is a certified Trauma Specialist. Ancient Manifestation Secrets teaches a brand - new manifestation method of manifesting with the energy field! It's the first book to claim that the law of attraction is not the most powerful law in the Universe and that not all desires can manifest. Instead, it draws from ancient Greek and Egyptian philosophy to introduce the 7 manifestation laws of the Universe, a framework for choosing the right desires to manifest, and the importance of taking inspired action rather than over - depending on the Universe. Rather than reiterating the usual manifestation practices, Ancient Manifestation Secrets introduces never - before - taught cognitive and energetic processes and meditations. Based on The Kybalion and Hermetic philosophy, the book puts forth a new, 5 - step manifestation process that challenges the prevalent 3 - step formula taught by most books (i.e. , Ask, Believe, Receive). Ancient Manifestation Secrets also disputes the common belief that negative emotions work against manifestation. Conversely, it incorporates inner work into the manifestation process and provides readers with both cognitive and energetic processes for expressing and transmuting their negative emotions, rather than repressing or denying them. Ancient Manifestation Secrets covers: • The 7 Hermetic Universal laws of manifestation • A brand - new method of manifesting with the energy field • Choosing desires that are aligned with your life purpose • An eye - movement therapy process for releasing limiting beliefs • A 10 - day manifestation challenge to manifest specific desires Get the book today! https://georgelizos.com/ancientmanifestationsecrets Visit George's website: https://georgelizos.com/ George's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/georgelizos/ My Law of Positivism Healing Oracle card deck: https://www.lawofpositivism.com/healingoracle.html Visit Law of Positivism: https://www.instagram.com/lawofpositivism/ Website: https://www.lawofpositivism.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawofpositivism/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/lawofpositivism

This episode is the first of three special episodes in this season of Radio ReOrient in which we look back on the first principles of Critical Muslim Studies. In this episode, Hizer Mir talks to Salman Sayyid about post-positivism - what it means, what it offers, and how it relates to the project of decolonising. The discussion that we kick off here will reverberate throughout this series, as we return to talk in later episodes about post-orientalism and decoloniality.

This week's episode guest is Tova Olsson who has been teaching yoga and meditation for nearly 20 years. She holds a MA in religious studies from the University of Gothenburg and is specialised in yogic and tantric traditions. She teaches the philosophy section of several yoga teacher trainings and is appreciated for her skills in storytelling and her ability to explain philosophical ideas in an approachable, embodied and humorous ways. She is currently working on her PhD at Umeå University in Sweden, researching the construction of gender in contemporary, European tantra. In this episode we speak about the Dasa Mahavidyas, the ten tantric wisdom goddesses, which Tova has an online course about. Dasa Maha Vidya means "Ten Great Wisdoms", depicted in classical tantric tradition as a group of, to say the least, macabre goddesses. Some of them, such as Kali and Tara, are quite well known, others, like Bagalamukhi and Matangi, are more obscure. But they all represent both stages of cosmic evolution and human spiritual development. Therefore, they can be called wisdom plateaus, cosmic forces as well as the faces of kundalini. For those interested in understanding nondual tantric philosophy, cosmology and the more esoteric aspects of the Shakta (goddess) tradition, her course offers an opportunity you don't want to miss! The scientific method that aspiring social scientists are taught in graduate school seems pretty straightforward: you start with a hypothesis, figure our how you're going to operationalize and measure your variables, pick cases that provide a tough test of your hypothesis, then collect your data, analyze it, and report your findings. However, for comparative-historical social scientists, things are rarely so cut-and-dried: it takes a lot of ‘soaking and poking' before you can answer relatively straightforward questions like “what is this a case of?” and “what is your dependent variable?” Moreover, the entire idea of trying to impose a template developed for experimental studies on comparative and historical data by arbitrarily slicing an integrated reality up into variables and trying to isolate one-directional causal effects doesn't seem appropriate for the dynamism and complexity of social reality. Today, I'm talking to the Nicholas Hoover Wilson and Damon Mayrl, the editors of a new edited volume that charts a different path. The contributors to After Positivism: New Approaches to Comparison in Historical Sociology (Columbia UP, 2024) provide new ways of thinking about the purposes of comparison in historical social science, what the ‘units' of historical analysis are, and how historically-oriented social scientists should go about conducting comparisons. Nicholas Wilson is an associate professor of sociology at Stony Brook University, and the author of Modernity's Corruption: Empire and Morality in the Making of British India (Columbia 2023). Damon Mayrl is associate professor of sociology at Colby College, and the author of Secular Conversions: Political Institutions and Religious Education in the United States and Australia, 1800-2000. Through his online workshops, Intuition Mastery School® online course, #1 best-selling books Protect Your Light, Lightworkers Gotta Work, Be The Guru and popular spiritual podcasts The Lit Up Lightworker and Can't Host, George inspires modern-day mystics, empaths and lightworkers to find, follow, and fulfil their life purpose. Secrets of Greek Mysticism is the first spiritual book about the Greek gods and goddesses written by a native, practicing priest of Hellenic Polytheism. It goes beyond the simplistic and archetypical representation of the Greek pantheon and reintroduces the gods and goddesses from a theological, rather than a mythological, perspective. Rather than presenting the gods and goddesses as symbolic, lifeless figures one can use to embellish spiritual practice, Secrets of Greek Mysticism teaches readers how to find each god or goddess within them. This is achieved through grounded insights on the gods' virtues as they relate to modern life (i.e., practicing bravery with Ares, cultivating endurance with Demeter, and embodying love with Aphrodite), explaining the deeper spiritual meaning of popular myths, practicing guided meditations, activating the gods' energies with mantras and hymns, and performing simple rituals. Secrets of Greek Mysticism also makes the claim that for the Divine Feminine to rise, the Divine Masculine needs to rise, too. Rather than solely focusing on female goddesses, it brings together the male and female deities of the Greek pantheon to help readers experience divine union. The incredible and inspiring Meggan Watterson is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Mary Magdalene Revealed and the international bestselling author of The Divine Feminine Oracle. She is a feminist theologian with a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University. She leads online courses and retreats on Mary's gospel, the Christ Movement, and the soul-voice meditation. Her work has appeared in media outlets such as The New York Times, The Huffington Post, TEDxWomen, and Marie Claire. Learn more at megganwatterson.com. This is her second time on the podcast and the first episode is all about Mary Magdalene and Meggan's book Mary Magdalene Revealed. I just love her new oracle card deck and the The Mary Magdalene Oracle is about a vision of radical love that formed long before Christianity became a formal religion in the 4th century, long before Mary's gospel was excluded, destroyed, and buried. It's a vision of humanity as a beloved community that risked their lives to recognize each other as equals—innately worthy of love, no matter their status within the Roman Empire. And it's about a vision that Christ gave Mary to then give to us, then and now—to see less with the ego and more with the eye of the heart. In this extraordinary oracle with original artwork that honors human diversity as well as Mary's historical origins in the Middle East, Harvard-trained feminist theologian Meggan Watterson leads us through Mary's long-lost secret teachings to integrate the profound love that her gospel reveals into a daily spiritual practice. Aepril Schaile, MFA is a performance artist/priestess/poet with a dance practice rooted in the ancient and ever-evolving art of Bellydance. She has taught and performed at curated events in Paris, London, Rome, New York, and throughout Europe and the United States. Aepril shamanistically becomes Trickster, Warrior, Ghost, Storm, Grieving Mother, Killer, Graal, Seductress. She draws deeply from her immersement in the natural world, occult art/science, witchcraft, yoga and archetypal psychology, creating visceral and aetheral ritual theatre. Each performance is intended to create and convey a world. This is how Aepril describes her work in poetry: "Poetry is a practice of deep inquiry. Poems reveal themselves to me much like an oracle; yet, each poem also becomes a spell. Poems are a way for me to express kinesthetic, emotional body experience in a sculpture of words. They are an internal form of Performance Art. They are themselves music. Some say poetry is dead; it is not. It is homeopathic medicine for a time in which we move too fast, as it asks us to slow down and look again, and again. To imagine for ourselves. To be present. And to feel." This week's episode is a solo episode with me, infused with the insights and energy from this New Moon in Aquarius portal and inspiration that I have received from our ceremony and circle. We felt the cat and feline goddess and divine feminine energy coming through and this inspired me and Diana to create a workshop to align and connect with goddess Ishtar, Sekhmet, Bast, Freya and Durga Ma. More information to come. In this episode I share more about the future energy of Aquarian influence and also the New Year which brings in the energy of the Wood Dragon - from the Chinese Medicine perspective a year of yang energy, growth, expansion, connected to the liver and gallbladder meridians and the colour green, season of spring and the emotions of anger/frustration. We need to stay patient even though we want to grow and develop. In this episode I also for the first time share my new offering - something that merges my Law of Positivism work with my 12+ years of experience in digital communication and marketing. Sunday School Greg McDaniel - 11/19/2023
“But at a purely personal level, Rondon embodied the best of both modern and old-fashioned virtues. He was intensely and genuinely patriotic, adhered to traditional codes of honor, bravery, and chivalry, and repeatedly demonstrated a moral rectitude that, enhanced a character both ascetic and abstemious, impressed those who regularly came into contact with him." Welcome back to another episode of Made You Think! In this episode, we're picking up the conversation on our favorite Brazilian explorer, Cândido Rondon, with Into the Amazon. Rohter's book dives into the untold stories of Rondon and Roosevelt, shining a spotlight on the uncharted territories, unique challenges, and extraordinary legacies left behind in the heart of the Amazon. We cover a wide range of topics including: Rondon's unique approach to exploration Animal and plant life within the Amazon How Rondon navigated each obstacle from sickness to river crossings Technology's impact on different generations The relationship between tech and human intelligence And much more. Please enjoy, and make sure to follow Nat, Neil, and Adil on Twitter and share your thoughts on the episode. Though not a direct sequel, it spins off of a previous episode on The River of Doubt, and gives us more insight into the life of Cândido Rondon. (1:57) In the era of great explorers, Rondon's discoveries were often overshadowed by the Europeans. Though he is very well-respected in Brazil, his accomplishments aren't as widely known in the US. (6:18) We talk a bit about Paul Rosolie and his preservation efforts in the Amazon rainforest, as well as why the forest felt empty in terms of wildlife throughout their exploration. (8:41) Rondon's peaceful demeanor and rationalist approach. He had a high tolerance and respect for the native tribes that he came across, and in return, they embraced him and his crew. (12:12) In addition to being an explorer, Rondon was a soldier. We also talk about Brazil's infrastructure advancements and how Rondon viewed the natives as Brazilian, whereas the Brazilian government hardly saw them as part of their people. (15:48) The friendship between Cândido Rondon and Theodore Roosevelt, and Roosevelt's profound respect for Rondon. We witness how Roosevelt's initial perception of Rondon transformed during their shared journeys, shedding light on Roosevelt's character and open-mindedness. (20:43) The rich history of Rondon's story is preserved through detailed diaries and journals kept by the explorers. The survival of these records is nothing short of miraculous when you consider the conditions they were in on their journey. (22:21) Meta's new AI features where you can talk to different personalities, based on the topics that you're interested in. (25:35) Rondon had opoprtunities to go down many paths in his life. He had developed several unique skills very early on in his childhood, yet exploring the Amazon is ultimately what he chose to pursue. (30:48) There were several elements to Rondon that uncovered as we read Into the Amazon that we may not have realized while reading The River of Doubt. Very military-like, Rondon created order for their day and took leadership on their expedition. (35:17) We share some badass Rondon stories that stuck out to us, including how he navigated a seemingly improbable river crossing with all of the cargo of his crew. (39:30) When times got tough and supplies ran low, Rondon always stuck to the mission. (42:31) Deforestation and its long-term consequences. Plant life is so dense in the Amazon; if it ever gets cleared out, it'd be near impossible to bring it back to what it once was. (47:13) The effects of global shipping traffic and it's pollution into the atmosphere. (50:32) The later years of Rondon was more of a focus in this book vs. The River of Doubt. We discuss his family life, which included a wife and 7 children. They communicated via telegrams throughout his many missions and projects where he was forced to be away from home. (57:40) Einstein had heard so much about Rondon during his time in Brazil that he submitted a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for him without even meeting him. (1:00:34) Your body always tells you what you need. If Rondon is sick? Just give him some pineapple! (1:01:31) Though Rondon is framed as a tough explorer, he was also an intellectual. He documented a lot of the indigenous languages and transcribed it based on his interactions with the tribes. (1:04:45) Tangent time: Which celebrities could potentially run for office, and who is big enough to have their names still referrenced after their passing? (1:07:39) Our thoughts on the movie Idiocracy and theories on the relationship between technology and intelligence levels. Will our generation always be the most technological competent generation? (1:15:09) How technology has shaped generations differently, especially Gen Z and Millenials. (1:20:33) We throw it back to when we were younger, talking about different devices that were around then and how they compare to the more modern, current models. (1:23:08) The development of Apple, and how they were able to shift so elegantly from the iPod to bigger and better devices. (1:29:01) We throw out some ideas of books to cover in future episodes. Which ones stuck out to you? Let us know! (1:40:48) That wraps up this episode! Make sure to pick up a copy of Into the Amazon if you liked this episode. Stay tuned as we will be reading The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying and Novacene in the next few episodes. If you enjoyed this episode, let us know by leaving a review on iTunes and tell a friend. Valeria is a change advocate, healer, Akashic Records teacher, community builder, motivational speaker and conscious-living ambassador. Ishtar Bäcklund Dakhil, is an illustrator and visual artist from Sweden. She spends her time travelling the world, working with both self driven artistic projects within local communities as well as working commercially with clients. After not fitting in most of her life and dealing with self-destructive behaviours, Valeria started the healing journey that would change her life forever. In 2010 she co-founded Longboard Girls Crew, the now biggest community in the action sports industry that empowers girls and women in more than 60 countries. She's now devoted to her non-profit Longboard Women United, helping hundreds of girls and women in extremely unprivileged areas around the world. Ishtar's creative explorations of the picture book format has led her to new & innovative ways of inviting readers into the reading experience, through interaction via VR techniques. The interplay between analog & digital design is a form that she recurrently works with. Ishtar's interest in personal narratives & themes of cultural belonging has also led her to further investigate innovative educational methods to share tools within visual storytelling. Through her process based workshops format titled “The Place that Hurts & Glitters” she explores and facilitates creative ways to recreate and work around personal narratives through visual communication. Valeria exposes the system and advocates for change in her many talks and conferences, including two TEDx Talks. Through her 1:1 sessions, mentoring, workshops, group channelings, newsletter and guided meditations she helps people heal, thrive and align to their soul purpose. In Valeria's own words: “In a system pushing us to live in fear, living in Love is a revolutionary act. The time is now. We were born to anchor and expand the new frequencies to manifest the new earth and we can only do it together”. She lives in the mountains near Esporles, in Mallorca. Fading Prospects for Latter-day Saint Expansion” (article in full linked below). In this final episode Nathan and Val talk about perhaps the most fascinating finding of this article, where the researchers merge administrative issues with theological issues. This episode answers the following questions:What is “Mormon Determinism”?How has Mormon Determinism potentially stimulated complacency and impeded accountability, institutional insight, and process improvement? What is “Authoritarian Positivism”?How might Authoritative Positivism be connected to the tendency for organizational leadership to disregard sound principles, relevant data and the lived experience of others who share insights contrary to cherished and longstanding beliefs? How might any authority figure's claim that they are guided by the spirit of God be linked to confirmation bias and lead to one's disinterest in other relevant data?Thank you for supporting Val and Nathan's countless hours devoted to enriching your spiritual journey by subscribing to Latter Day Struggles Friday Episodes! As an award-winning political scientist and conflict researcher, she used to travel the world to study and advice on how communities can increase their resilience in the face of violent conflict and extremism.
