Satisfied in Christ is a weekly conversation between two Pastors in the Pacific Northwest. They desire to come alongside the church on a regular basis and discuss how the gospel affects our lives, our interactions with culture and help bring the gospel to the forefront of our lives. The aim is to be…
We're back! Except not, because we've been here. We've just been quiet for awhile. Listen in as we catch up on church, life and all the things that are going on behind the scenes of this last year.
We realize that to believe in Jesus Christ is to be a citizen of the Kingdom of God which puts us in the crosshairs of the world. Understanding that from the beginning of our Christian walk is crucial. To be a Kingdom citizen is to be saved from sin so that we would be saved to Jesus. This means we will live differently and be treated differently as followers of Christ living in a kingdom that is not our own. Matthew 5:10 satisfiedinchrist.life
this weeks discussion is about what it looks like to live as a citizen of the Kingdom of God. The source text is Matthew 5:5-8Resources at satisfiedinchrist.life
As we walk through the Beatitudes, we see our need for dependence upon God and dependence on the gospel. Following Christ, we love the things He loves and hates the things He hates - that is why we mourn. With so many things vying for our attention in this world, the Sermon on the Mount reminds us where our true identity is as citizens of God's Kingdom. As we look at the beatitudes, we see that they don't describe how one becomes a citizen of God's kingdom, but rather how one lives as a citizen (or disciple) in God's Kingdom. How is gospel transformation, the process of overcoming sin and by His grace, being made more like Jesus, accomplished in and through us? Looking at the fruit in our lives, we trace it back to the root, the heart, in order to identify the sin in our hearts and experience true change through the gospel of Christ.
Coming to you, not as experts, but as men who love God's word and desiring to walk with humility and integrity in this world, Nick and Bobby take a deep dive into suffering. The bible states that as believers, we will go through trials because of our faith in Christ (John 15:18). God's Word speaks on suffering and as believers we should be equipped for suffering. By positioning ourselves with humility, faith and the grace of God we will be prepared to stand firm in the face of suffering and adversity.

James is a book that speaks to the believer on how to live out their faith in Christ. It is a very practical book giving wisdom and guidance on living life by the Spirit.James contains approximately 59 commands. This can feel like a firehouse - an unattainable standard to meet. Yet, God’s word is not burdensome, His yoke is easy and His burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-33)So how are we to read and respond to this book? How does the book of James point us to Jesus and encourage us to delight in living a life of faith?
Speaking this week about the community of the church, Bobby and Nick discuss different ways we are called to live life together, serving and ministering to one another. God calls a people to be His bride, His body - to be united in Christ with God and each other. This is seen all throughout scripture leading us to the understanding that as members of God’s family, we are called into community. As a church, we must lean into and work towards community together. But that’s not always easy. People are unique, with different interests and passions. Our culture itself pushes us to prioritize the individual. Sometimes there is not a strong and healthy community within the church and we find ourselves lonely. Yet life together, a rich community, is vital to the life of a believer. Why? Lean in listen and engage with us in this conversation.Resources found at www.satisfiedinchrist.life

Church meetings. We’ve all been there. Sometimes they begin and end with worship & we marvel together at God’s goodness and His leading. Wrestling with the good, the bad & the ugly, they walk through the importance and necessity of church congregational meetings. They also lead us to the Word and give some helpful thoughts on how we as church members should prepare our hearts for these times together.www.satisfiedinchrist.life
And they’re back! After a brief hiatus, the guys are back together and diving in to discuss the countless leaders of the faith who have publicly renounced and walked away from Christianity. Are they apostate? If these men, many who lead influential ministries, walk away from the faith, can I? Should I? Will we be preserved to the end or is our spiritual walk in vain?Bobby and Nick talk through what is prompting this trend and how we as believers should respond to these leaders and to the watching world.

Todd Miles, professor of Theology at Western Seminary, joins us today as we talk about his book “Superheroes Can’t Save You: Epic Examples of Historic Heresies”.You guessed it, we talk about Superman, Batman, Hulk and even who we think the PNW Superhero Jesus would be.While superheroes are fun, they can’t save you. The cultural obsession with superheroes does point to our need, our desire, for a perfect Savior. Jesus is not another DC or Marvel Superhero. He is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, the propitiation for our sins, our Lord and Savior. Only He can save humanity.Which is your favorite Superhero? And how does that relate to the church and your understanding of who Jesus is?Links from today’s show are found at: www.satisfiedinchrist.life
