Sometimes in life, we or our friends might face problems or things that seem impossible, just like Peter did. But God invites us to come to Him in prayer. He is strong, He is willing to help, and He is always with us. Sometimes the answer will surprise us, just like it did for Peter and the praying church. Sometimes God gives us strength to endure, or He sends help in ways we can't imagine. Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. You're never alone—even when things seem dark or impossible. God's love and power can reach right into your situation. He can set you free, give you peace, and surround you with His care. So when you are in trouble, or when someone you know is facing something hard, turn to God. Ask for His help. Invite others to pray with you, too. Remember, our God is powerful and He loves you deeply. You are never out of His reach. That's a prayer I have for my own heart, for my family, and for you today: that we would remember to pray, to trust, and to lean on the God who rescues and provides. May it be so. Though years of trials and wars, there are always new fields not fought in yet. I had to wrestle in prayer to get my footing.There were sleepless tossings and turnings. "I watered my couch with tears," several times, and finally, I found my balance again. I began to come up for air and scenes from the Bible and words of the Lord began to flood in. His light shone and I was strenthened. I thought of Paul the Apostle who was one man aboard a ship full of men. It was the Lord who met him one night during the fierness of the storm and told him all on the ship would be saved. Moses and Phineas stood up as the only ones among tens of thousands who prayed to God, and His wrathful judments were halted. There are many more examples. The Lord showed me this morning that there are many trials that are very hard and unbearable. That if He allows a trial to come to you, it is not just for you. It is for many others later on because He knows He can trust you to "go down into sea in ships to do business in great waters." To go down into the depths, in darkness. He knows that when you are at your wits end, you will pray like Moses and Phineas did. He does this because He knows through you, many will be liberated by His great force of love and power. It says, "Unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for His sake." (Phil.2:19). A word like this to you, "It is given," takes the ache from battle wounds."You will lean into His arm and like Paul, you will say to others who are desperate, "I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me," and many will live because you stood for Christ, and Christ stood by you in the deeps at night. Can you imagine living without money? Humans lived without money for 250,000 years, so it's not necessary for life. Money seems like an invention on par with the big ones, like fire, the wheel, writing, and language.Right off the bat, Jo shares how her life before choosing to live without money was stressful, with less freedom or free time. If you thought having more money would give you more freedom, more free time, and less stress, her experiencing the opposite may prompt you to consider the basics of human interaction. What does it mean about our lifestyles, values, and beliefs that having zero of our culture promotes having more of actually giving us what we want?In earning a doctorate in experimental science, maybe the most fundamental thing I learned is that no matter what I expect or want, nature is always right. If my theory predicts one thing but nature does something different, nature is right and my theory is wrong. A week after the shocking dismissal of Michael Colucci's 10-year-old murder charge because of prosecutorial misconduct on the behalf of SLED and the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, Bishop Venters — the daughter of Sara-Lynn Moore Colucci, whom Michael is accused of strangling to death in May 2015 — says she's ready to fight for a new trial.  Bishop, whose biological father died under tragic circumstances a few years earlier, was about 8 years old when Michael, her mother's new husband, adopted her. She was just 11 when Michael told her that her mother had died in an accident.  After her mother's death, Bishop says Michael and his mother Doris kept her away from her maternal grandparents, telling her they were bad people. She would later learn that her grandparents were suing for custody of her.
