Episode 48 | Suffering from functional fixedness , My Entrepreneur Academia, and can COVID-19 be a good thing Functional Fixedness is something that academics use to explain when people are unable to think outside the box that is given to them for whatever reason. The following comes from my opinion after reading a chapter from the book The Creator's Code: The six essential skills of Extraordinary Entrepreneurs. This book was recommended to me by the Coursera course Developing the entrepreneurial mindset. It is a must-read for aspiring entrepreneurs. This book goes into detail about how successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs solved problems in their businesses. The concept of Functional Fixedness is used in the "The Candlelight Problem " Where someone is unable to see how they can solve a problem in another way. I am so happy to be able to be writing my 31st newsletter for Yamanote Tech and society podcast. I started this podcast in October where I was looking to start building my business as an entrepreneur who wanted to teach people about how the internet works today in 202. So being able to convey an idea to a stranger is going to be key. So what better way to practice that then by learning to be a gig freelancer. This is the latest newsletter I have made so far with only 2 hours until I record the podcast, I am writing this for you now. I have been creating a lot of content in the past few months and already I am noticing I am going to have to make a blog to store all this on. Don’t worry you will still be able to get the newsletter from this google docs I am sharing. I just want to create a new website for my podcast and my written content. I hope to have more but my process for looking for guest is pretty new. I basically use a process called Web Scraping. It is a process where you use code like javascript, python or shell scripting to download a web page and parse the page for specific or all the data. Attempt the Impossible (The Nature of a failure) “Your present state is the result of your past decisions.” -auroraixion This week we celebrated Martin Luther King’s Birthday as a National Holiday here in the United States. MLK was a civil rights activist and a strong believer in non-violent protest. He was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology and this led to MLK opening the doors for more rights for minorities in America. Today you can find his speeches, documentaries and friends of MLK all over the net. He has been immortalized in human history as one of the most influential beings our planet has ever had. This reminds me that when we are looking for change we need to start with ourselves attempting the impossible is something that HAS to be done. With the internet we can learn different ways to make that happen. This week I continue to share a video log (vlog) via youtube and facebook on how people can learn to overcome procrastination and build the financial freedom they deserve. Our global economy has an abundant amount of wealth and prosperity for everyone. With Christmas over, before I spend the next few days with my family. I still want to try and put together this podcast. This podcast is not only about sharing my thoughts with you but also helping me become a better writer and content creator. One of the things I need to practice on is consistency. Earl Nightingale said “You are what you think about”. His quote was used in the Impact Theory YouTube Channel as the Host Tom Bilyeu which inspired me to also stay focus on craft. It has become clear to me that this is the new way to share information. I see many people who use Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms. Are not big on talking about themselves from their experiences. Many of us will just share a link somewhere and do not share why we like this link. So I will try to share information in the future where I will send a link a clip of what caught my eye and then a few lines of what I think of this. Checkout the iOS App inShot for editing videos on your phone!!! Want to save money storing your videos in the cloud? Consider using your Youtube or facebook Account these account have a private mode which allow you safely leave your video in their cloud with having to pay that 15 dollar subscription fee (yikes) I can use that money to have a Youtube Premium Account . If your on a PC and would like to screen record your game or coding tutorial I would consider using OBS ( Open Broadcast Studio ) I would recommend the MAC version but right now for Catalina there is a delay in the new version (it is free open source) So you can still use quicktime/iMovie in the mean time. It is less than 10 days left for Christmas and we still have not seen any real snow. I don’t think the Holidays will be complete without a nice blanket of snow that keeps you inside for a day (or two!!) Here in New York City the last real winter storm was back in 2010 we had a total of 30 inches of snow. I found a video buried in my facebook profile about when it snowed it was crazy . Salutations Everyone, Last week was much more productive than the past few weeks. I usually would try and lay out all goals I would like to complete for the week. Anyways, last week I completed my 6th episode of my new podcast. Last week podcast I spoke about finishing the book PERMANENT RECORD from Edward Snowden. My thoughts on the next book I am reading THE 7 Habits and how I feel reading this book alongside the audio book really helps me learn what the author's main points are about.
