We took an unannounced break to get our lives together. This episode is to summarize the past few months of Angee's Shrink Show of a life so listeners can catch up too. As many followers remember, Angee was raised majority of her life by her Grandma Patty. Earlier this year, Grandma was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia known as T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL). T-PLL is an extremely rare and typically aggressive cancer that is generally considered to have a poor prognosis, even with treatment. At this time, Grandma has made the difficult decision to forgo treatment and fully enjoy her remaining time with friends and family. Doctors can't say for sure how long Grandma Patty will remain with us, but we know it won't be as long as we would like. As Angee recently posted to her social media: To know Grandma Patty is to be loved by her. Her heart accepts you as you are and welcomes you as family. She has become everyone's grandma and, in fact, many of you may never have even known her name before now because you always just called her “Grandma”. To know Grandma Patty is to love her. Her soul is a medicine that leaves you feeling better than when you came. Yoo Hoo! Hello family! This week Jaime and Angee decided to therapeutically dive into the first of the Frozen series, as they believe this is an important foundation for the later discussion regarding Frozen II (which is the one they REALLY want to talk about!) Highlights from this episode include: Frozen is YET ANOTHER movie about PTSD and people's varying responses to trauma If you have a child with magical powers who accidentally hurts your other child during playtime, resulting in the other child's memory becoming erased and subsequently the “covering up” (shaming) of the magical child's unique gifts, please have a conversation with and guide your first child to avoid even more shame and isolation throughout their childhood! (basically, if you screw up in your reaction as a parent – which you will – just apologize and teach the right way!) Oaken might be the coolest (or warmest?) character in the entire movie It's okay to let your freak flag fly Don't marry someone you just met Olaf (and perhaps ALL snowmen?) are pure love and innocence Angee wants to marry Kristoff – rather, Jonathan Groff – despite his sexual orientation Thank you so much for listening and continuing to be a fan of the show! Jaime and Angee decide to use some of our most beloved (or hated) Disney characters and discuss their behavior from a therapeutic standpoint. This week they dive into the magical world of Beauty and the Beast where Angee clearly had some unprocessed rage she needed to work through and heal. Highlights from this episode include: The sheer spectrum of individual responses to trauma. Several of the characters had likely experienced trauma and could be diagnosed with PTSD, yet the ways in which they displayed the symptoms of their trauma both internally and externally were vastly different. Gaston and The Beast were, in many ways, mirror images of one another. Jaime and Angee decide to use some of our most beloved (or hated) Disney characters and discuss their behavior from a therapeutic standpoint. Since last episode came from a point of contention, we only thought it best to come from a point of adoration in this week's episode. Angee may owe her entire childhood belief system (and addiction to swimming like a mermaid) to Ariel from The Little Mermaid. In this episode we discuss various topics including the victimization of Ursula, how we all need a friend like scuttle, and how Ariel's age was age appropriate (for the most part). Jaime and Angee decide to use some of our most beloved (or hated) Disney characters and discuss their behavior from a therapeutic standpoint. Jaime has a bone to pick with Snow White (aka Dumb B*$@#) so this seemed the most appropriate starting point. Not to mention she was the OG Disney Princess. To be honest, we weren't entirely sure which way the discussion would go (are we ever?) but we feel confident you'll like some of the insights found within such a familiarly classic film. Some of the topics include generational trauma, developmentally appropriate behaviors, the unrealistic expectations of both women and men within the society, and the hidden agendas/biases surrounding aging, working class, and submissive behaviors. Jaime can't stand the “me too” movement and thinks everyone should just assume all women (and some men) have been sexually assaulted in one way or another. She believes in the power of the “Enthusiastic Yes” to ensure that every person gives genuine and voluntary consent to proceed during a sexual encounter. Angee gets enraged at men who “grab women by their pussy” and seem to think women are objects available for men to interact with and treat however they'd like. She believes it shouldn't be that difficult to teach young men to not take advantage of other young women (and men). I mean seriously, is it really that difficult to understand? Every 68 seconds another American is sexually assaulted. 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed 2.8% attempted). About 3% of American men—or 1 in 33—have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. And these stats only take into account “rape” as sexual assault and, even then, these are simply the instances that have been reported. What about an unwanted boob or butt grab? What about a forced blowjob? What if the rapist is the person you are married to? Women are often criticized by the “good guys” for assuming all men are dangerous. While this argument may seem logical, the consequences to women are far too great not to assume all men are dangerous. We recently heard this equated to gun safety. The #1 rule is to assume all guns are loaded as to assume they are not can result in death. Similarly, women are much safer to assume all men could sexually assault them because to assume they are all safe can result in dire consequences. We no longer live in a society where men can sit on the sidelines while the women are fighting off every Tom, Dick, and Henry (or Carl) from unwanted advances. It's time to stand up for your wives, your daughters, your mothers, your neighbors, and say, “NO MEANS NO, CARL!” “Sorry, Carl.”* -Angee Jaime's Mug: How Can I Think Outside The Box When I Work in a Cube?!Angee's Mug: Do Not Feed the Bears (with a picture of a bear with a deer rack on it's head, holding a sign that says “I'm not a Bear”) *Angee would like to formally apologize to anyone out there named Carl who is a stand-up fella. She's sorry if she made you uncomfortable in your body as there was no ill-intention nor unforgiveness to your namesake. It just so happened your name easily flew off the tongue and we had to keep it consistent. Unless you are a Carl who has sexually assaulted women; in which case, you should make an appointment with Jaime to do hypnosis and heal your inner child because you obviously didn't learn how to respect other's personal bubbles. Her once never-ending to-do lists have now become, well, dancing in the empty fields of space in her brain. Jaime didn't quit her job, yet she continues striving to find the balance between living in the future, with a clean kitchen and sad children versus living in the present moment with dirty dishes and happy children. Are you living in harmony with your path or have you lost your way? Is having a clean house, wearing the latest fashion and having well-behaved children more important than feeling content with who you are and having happy children? Do you consistently feel you are in a state of “lack” or that you can never “do enough”? Who is really creating your to-do lists and are they things that truly matter to you and your happiness? These are all questions Angee and Jaime discuss in this week's episode as Jaime dives into uncovering patterns within herself to discover what's truly important to her while Angee has a mid-life identity crisis and sheds old skin that no longer serves her future path. On that note, since Angee quit her job and is now redefining herself, she welcomes any ideas or suggestions for how she should make money, who might be willing to sponsor her future, or who she should become moving forward! Also, keep in mind that if you ever invite Jaime to your birthday party, she has a gift giving score of 2 so you will not receive a gift from her other than her friendship. You're welcome. It all comes back to this lesson of learning to trust yourself and providing yourself with grace for doing your best, while recognizing your decisions simply are just that... decisions. Neither good nor bad. Just opportunities to learn how to play this game called life. Life isn't a pass or fail exam. It's a dance we learn as we go. Angee has a passion for human and parental rights and autonomy, and serves as a supporter and advocate for families who choose to own their path and stand on their rights in healthcare and birth.   We talk about the loss of sweet baby Vera as well as Angee's story of being charged, jailed and put on trial over a 3 1/2 yr long journey. She fights hard for women who want the option to birth at home with assistance and her story is going to be used to further that mission. She graciously came on to share and it's a story that will hopefully ignite passion in each listener to fight for what is right despite the risks.    To support Angee follow her at:  Website: nebraskabirthkeeper.com Facebook Page: https://m.facebook.com/nebraskabirthkeeper/ Instragram: @nebraskabirthkeeper   Connect with Aly:  Website: empoweredbirthpodcast.com Facebook Group: Facebook.com/empoweredmamastribe IG: @empoweredbirthpodcast   Etsy Shop for the Birth Loving Mama: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BirthBlissBeyond?ref=profile_header   Download the Workbook Finding Joy in Pregnancy and Birth: https://www.birthblissbeyond.com/product-page/finding-joy-in-pregnancy-and-birth USE CODE: EMPOWEREDBIRTH FOR 15% OFF   Arazabeauty.com get 15% off order with code: empoweredbirth   Support the Podcast by leaving a rating and review as well as tagging me on IG and sharing an episode in your stories!

Episode 49. Angee in MissouriIn this episode, I will be talking with Angee in Missouri. Angee lost her mom, Gloria, to Covid on February 17, 2021. Angee not only feels the grief of losing her mom, but she also deeply feels the guilt of knowing that she brought the virus home to her mom. We talk a lot about grief and guilt and healing in this episode. Angee mentions the Yellow Heart Memorial and how connecting with others has helped her. We also talk briefly about the book, Option B, by Sheryl Sandberg. Finally, there is a bit of an up and down audio sound when Angee is speaking sometimes. I've done my best to try to edit it to be more even. Yellow Heart Memorial Option B book by Sheryl Sandberg For context on this interview and the ever-changing pandemic, we recorded this episode on March 2, 2023.Support the showIf you've lost a loved one to COVID and would like to share your story on the show, please send me an email. That's exactly the situation our guest today faced, and her testimony will inspire and remind us all of important it is to be aligned with God's timing. Angee Robertson has been called to equip women who have administrative giftings, savvy organizational skills and a deep desire to support the marketplace to make an impact, all for the glory of God. After successfully running her own thriving virtual assistant business for nearly two decades, she founded the Kingdom Virtual Assistant School where she trains aspiring virtual assistants to design their own unique practices in partnership with God. She uses her certified Life and Career coach training to support her students and in her work with entrepreneurs. Outside of Kingdom VA School, she supports small businesses to streamline their operations so they are free to focus on their own God given callings. When not teaching her students or supporting her clients, Angee spends time journaling with Jesus, taking nature walks around her Florida home with her husband and laughing with friends, family and neighbors. This episode is part of our Easter Christian Business Series, stay tuned for the next episode. :)Listen to Angee's Story...[01:13] - Question #1: How did God impact her business and everything else?[08:46] - Question #2: What does she mean by partnering with God?[14:12] - Question #3: What's the 1st step we should do when we think God is calling us to do something?
