Jonathan and Chester and Angee are joined this week by Alyssa Tatro, a senior planner at the City of Auburn! What's a city planner do? Well, just about everything! From setting design standards, to helping create policy that specifies width of roads, to sidewalk egress, to citywide and downtown design standards that set the look and feel of a city. We took an unannounced break to get our lives together. This episode is to summarize the past few months of Angee's Shrink Show of a life so listeners can catch up too. As many followers remember, Angee was raised majority of her life by her Grandma Patty. Earlier this year, Grandma was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia known as T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL). T-PLL is an extremely rare and typically aggressive cancer that is generally considered to have a poor prognosis, even with treatment. At this time, Grandma has made the difficult decision to forgo treatment and fully enjoy her remaining time with friends and family. Doctors can't say for sure how long Grandma Patty will remain with us, but we know it won't be as long as we would like. As Angee recently posted to her social media: To know Grandma Patty is to be loved by her. Her heart accepts you as you are and welcomes you as family. She has become everyone's grandma and, in fact, many of you may never have even known her name before now because you always just called her “Grandma”. To know Grandma Patty is to love her. Her soul is a medicine that leaves you feeling better than when you came. Jaime can't stand the “me too” movement and thinks everyone should just assume all women (and some men) have been sexually assaulted in one way or another. She believes in the power of the “Enthusiastic Yes” to ensure that every person gives genuine and voluntary consent to proceed during a sexual encounter. Angee gets enraged at men who “grab women by their pussy” and seem to think women are objects available for men to interact with and treat however they'd like. She believes it shouldn't be that difficult to teach young men to not take advantage of other young women (and men). I mean seriously, is it really that difficult to understand? Every 68 seconds another American is sexually assaulted. 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed 2.8% attempted). About 3% of American men—or 1 in 33—have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. And these stats only take into account “rape” as sexual assault and, even then, these are simply the instances that have been reported. What about an unwanted boob or butt grab? What about a forced blowjob? What if the rapist is the person you are married to? Women are often criticized by the “good guys” for assuming all men are dangerous. While this argument may seem logical, the consequences to women are far too great not to assume all men are dangerous. We recently heard this equated to gun safety. The #1 rule is to assume all guns are loaded as to assume they are not can result in death. Similarly, women are much safer to assume all men could sexually assault them because to assume they are all safe can result in dire consequences. We no longer live in a society where men can sit on the sidelines while the women are fighting off every Tom, Dick, and Henry (or Carl) from unwanted advances. Episode 49. Angee in MissouriIn this episode, I will be talking with Angee in Missouri. Angee lost her mom, Gloria, to Covid on February 17, 2021. Angee not only feels the grief of losing her mom, but she also deeply feels the guilt of knowing that she brought the virus home to her mom. We talk a lot about grief and guilt and healing in this episode. Angee mentions the Yellow Heart Memorial and how connecting with others has helped her. After successfully running her own thriving virtual assistant business for nearly two decades, she founded the Kingdom Virtual Assistant School where she trains aspiring virtual assistants to design their own unique practices in partnership with God. She uses her certified Life and Career coach training to support her students and in her work with entrepreneurs.
