The Moda Center has a packed summer lineup with performances by Chance the Rapper, Benson Boone and others. The arena is no longer devoid of basketball in the summer thanks to the triumphant return of the Portland Fire. But this week the building is taking center stage for other reasons. Portland Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon is in town for an annual business summit at Moda Center. Meanwhile city and county leaders discussed the plan to renovate the arena with public cash – there was spiciness. Reporters Lauren Dake, Kyra Buckley and Alex Zielinski discussed all that and more this week on the latest episode of OPB Politics Now.
What happens when you combine the greatest traits from the greatest rappers of all time?In this episode of the Ern and Iso Podcast, we take on one of the biggest debates in hip-hop history: What would the perfect rapper look like?We build the ultimate artist from the ground up by selecting the best qualities from some of the culture's most iconic names. From Nas' lyrical genius and Fabolous' effortless flow to Kanye West's creativity, Jay-Z's business mind, Drake's hit-making ability, Black Thought's freestyle skills, and more, we create a rapper unlike anything hip-hop has ever seen.Along the way, we debate:
Host Justin Forman sits down with Billboard-charting Christian hip hop artist and entrepreneur Tedashii for a raw, unforgettable conversation about identity, loss, and what it really means to build something that lasts. From writing his first song in elementary school to reaching #1 on the Billboard charts, Tedashii shares how grief transformed his entrepreneurial ambition—and how losing his one-year-old son Chase became the defining moment that changed everything he was building toward. Tedashii opens up about the difference between running from something, running to something, and the third road God placed before him: running for something. He shares his vision for a nonprofit called Chase Life, his passion for dismantling the shame narrative that holds entrepreneurs back, and why the church's next great revival may depend on artists and business leaders heralding the name of Christ with excellence. Tedashii (born Tadashi—a Japanese name meaning loyal, faithful, true, and correct) grew up biracial in Texas, discovered Christ at Baylor University, and went on to become one of Christian hip hop's most recognized voices through Reach Records alongside Lecrae. Today he's expanding into public speaking, acting, filmmaking, and nonprofit work, all anchored by the conviction that what he's called to do, nobody else can do. Key Topics: From missionary-minded musician to intentional entrepreneur—and what made the shift click Why authenticity in creativity transcends listenership and becomes a two-way highway The moment Tedashii's son Chase passed away—and how grief redirected his entire entrepreneurial vision Running from something vs. running to something vs. running for something Identity, Imago Dei, and why the enemy uses shame to hinder the entrepreneur Notable Quotes: "I decided to learn how to meet the needs of people, and that made me an entrepreneur." — Tedashii "There's so much pressure on arriving to the thing you're running to, to help you battle the demons that you're running from. And now because I'm running for something, getting to the things I'm running to doesn't, it's no pressure on it anymore." — Tedashii "You're a lousy someone else, but the best you there is. There is not another you. You are a rarity." — Tedashii
Dom and D dive deep into the complexities of professional boundaries, cultural identity, and the lighter side of life. They start by tackling the friction of modern workplace dynamics—and how to handle unprofessional behavior with firm boundaries. Later, the conversation gets spicy as we break down: -Pop Culture Nostalgia: Remembering the iconic Larry "Grandmama" Johnson commercials and why we love (and love to hate) certain celebrity antics. -Relationship Truths: Comedian Haha Davis joins the mix to share his candid—and hilarious—experience with swinging and the lessons learned. -Serious Discourse: A real talk on the obsession surrounding Michelle Obama, the legal status of Mystikal, and our critique of the drama series Nemesis. 0:00 – Navigating Workplace Challenges and Cultural Commentary 5:13 – Comparing Soccer Players to Rappers for Relatability 10:01 – Diversity in World Cup Teams and Naturalized Citizenship 12:37 – Larry Johnson's Unmade Commercial and Gemini Traits 18:39 – Unlikely Sports Victories and Conspiracy Theories 23:19 – New York Knicks' Championship Win and Its Cultural Impact 32:55 – Josh Hokit's comments on Michelle Obama at UFC event at White House 46:05 – Haha Davis: Exploring Swinging and Open Relationships 54:40 – David Oyelowo and Southern Accents 1:04:44 – Mystikal's Legal Troubles and Their Impact 1:08:05 – Nemesis Review: Casting Critiques and Character Believability Brand new voicemail: (314) 649-3113 Subscribe to the Everyone Needs an Aquarius Patreon https://bit.ly/3tXnnCz Email the show at straightolc@gmail.com Follow SOLC Network online Instagram: https://bit.ly/39VL542 Twitter: https://bit.ly/39aL395 Facebook: https://bit.ly/3sQn7je To Listen to the podcast Podbean https://bit.ly/3t7SDJH YouTube http://bit.ly/3ouZqJU Spotify http://spoti.fi/3pwZZnJ Apple http://apple.co/39rwjD1 IHeartRadio http://ihr.fm/2L0A2y

It is a privilege to welcome recording artist Vince Montage to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. At just 20 years old, Vince has already written over 500 songs and collaborated with heavyweights like Polo G and Scott Storch (Credits include 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Beyoncé), but nothing he's made has been quite like this. On May 8th, he released "Fleeting," his debut single and the opening statement of a bold new era. Raw, introspective, and unflinchingly honest, the track confronts the emotional weight of impermanence in love and in the versions of ourselves we can't hold onto. “Fleeting” explores the ache of emotions that are impossible to hold onto: the moments, relationships, and feelings that slip away just as quickly as they arrive.Written during a period of rapid personal change, the song reflects Vince's desire to return to moments in time and the complexity of feeling deeply for something temporary. Vince's new era is marked by a desire for authenticity and emotional honesty, as he reminisces about moments that slip away as quickly as they appear. Vince's creative process stems from internal dialogue combined with a distinct talent for identifying complementary melodies. In the case of “Fleeting,” the melody came long before the final production, allowing the emotion of the record to take center stage. The track was produced by Pacific, with Vince operating as a co-producer alongside his longtime collaborator, Grammy Award-winning producer-engineer Mixx, with whom he has worked since his early teens and has collaborated with the likes of Teyana Taylor and French Montana. Together, the duo has crafted a soundscape that balances subtle percussion with emotional intensity. For Vince, authenticity is everything – “If you can reach a lot of people, you can have a big impact on other people's lives in a bunch of different ways.” Vince Montage's musical focus has now shifted from creating music that is an extension of pop culture to creating music rooted in authenticity. “When you're making music for the purpose of trying to catch a trend, you can make a song that becomes a hit, but it's not going to influence people in the same way that making music from your own personal experience does.” Originally from Columbus and now based in Miami, Vince began his music journey at just 13 years old. What began as a creative desire to collaborate with creatives Vince admired on SoundCloud quickly evolved into a legitimate, all-encompassing career and relentless creative pursuit for Vince, culminating in collaborations with influential artists. Over the past seven years, he's worked to refine an innovative style unique to him but shaped by influences ranging from some of his favorites: From Prince to Queen to contemporary innovator, Mk. Gee. On this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Vince Montage spoke about how SoundCloud has helped him, the stories behind his most-streamed Spotify songs, including “Light Switch,” “Back 2 U” – his collaboration with Karri, and “Stuck in this Mood” with Polo G.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jake-s-take-with-jacob-elyachar--4112003/support.

The boys are back, and this week there's an elephant in the room the size of Madison Square Garden. Vinnie and Billy are doing their best to ignore it, but Brendan isn't making it easy. The Knicks just won the championship and someone in the studio is way too happy about it — and it isn't the Philly guys. The debate over whether Wu-Tang's halftime performance had anything to do with the outcome is very real, and very heated. From there the conversation shifts to something that's been brewing for a while — the guys announce plans to put together their own Greatest 50 Rappers of All Time list, a direct response to the clickbait list culture dominating hip hop media. Names get floated and opinions get spicy. Don't miss this one!

Streaming has made music more accessible than ever. Rapper, producer and writer Rollie Pemberton believes algorithms are actually reshaping our music taste. He argues that convenience has come at a cost, making it easier to consume music but harder to build a meaningful relationship with it. We discuss streaming algorithms, record collecting and the lost art of discovery. Rollie shares why intentional listening matters and how reclaiming control of our music habits can enrich our lives.
In this episode of Coffee Talk with Bryan & Marie, we sit down with EJ “Skullcrusher” Snyder — one of the world's top survival experts and a 25‑year Army combat veteran. From his days as an Airborne Ranger and Infantry Sergeant Major to earning two Bronze Stars, the Legion of Merit, and the Order of Saint Maurice, EJ's story embodies grit, leadership, and an unbreakable will. After retiring from the military, EJ became a breakout star on Discovery's Naked and Afraid, surviving six brutal challenges with a combined 206 days in the wild — and zero taps, even after a near‑fatal injury. He's since hosted Dual Survival, appeared in 72 Hours, Mountain Masters, First Man Out, and more, proving that his “lead from the front” mindset transcends the battlefield.EJ now runs Skullcrusher Outdoors, co‑owns ventures like Armed Forces Brewing Company, Freedom Pickles, and Hard Working Sauce Co., and continues to give back through veteran outreach, suicide prevention, and disaster relief. His mission: live with intensity, passion, and purpose — and never quit.
In this episode of the Ern & Iso Podcast, the fellas dive into one of the most debated hip-hop lists of the year: Complex's Top 50 New York Rappers of All Time.Did they get it right? Did they completely miss the mark? And why does every New York rap list seem to start an argument?Ern and Iso break down the rankings, discuss who was placed too high, who was disrespected, and which legendary MCs deserved a better spot. From the undeniable icons like Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, Rakim, and LL Cool J to the newer generation of New York stars, the duo debates what really matters when ranking greatness: lyrics, impact, influence, longevity, commercial success, or cultural significance. The conversation also explores New York's historic role in hip-hop, how different eras should be judged, and whether fans allow nostalgia to outweigh actual accomplishments. Plus, the guys ask the ultimate question: Can any city compete with New York's rap legacy?Whether you're a backpack rap purist, a mainstream hip-hop fan, or someone who loves a good music debate, this episode is guaranteed to get you talking.

This week on the Frotcast, bitter infighting consumed the group chat as the third day of negotiations about what to watch for this episode reached an impasse. While the talks were Vanced, the Strait of Discourse stayed mercifully open. What we're trying to say is, We didn't watch a movie this week. Sorry. Rapper/pornographer Ray J has months to live. He also has a very strange interview with Cam Newton's silly hat. Ray J answers the question “Are you gay?” with a story about what people do when they go home. It gets worse from there, believe it or not. A sample exchange: Ray J: “Do you listen to Biggie Smalls?” Cam: “Can you just answer my question?” We'll always love you for moving your hat 7 times in a 30 second conversation, Ray J. What we do in life echoes in eternity. Then we get some IRL Kyle Mooney action when streamer 4_Inches gets spotted at In N Out Burger (drink!) by Jakob with a K (drink!), the lead singer of Sublime (drink!). What follows is one of the dumbest conversations we've ever been privileged to hear. This then leads to one of the Frotcast's top two or three Nobel Prize-worthy anthropological theories; Socal bros = saltwater juggalos (drink!). Next, many are calling it The Most Australian Story Ever: man uses his dog to unsuccessfully bludgeon a murderous crocodile but is mercifully saved by a Sheila having a ciggy and his mate Kevin Bevin, who then blesses us with a wonderful new term for a penis. Finally, someone tried to assassinate Trump again, but this time it was a libbed out soyboy who geared up for murder and then took a mirror selfie doing the Lin-Manuel Miranda lip bite. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?? Perhaps making campaign pledges to only the most insane people in America and then aggressively doing the opposite has some sort of deleterious effect on said crazy people. Who can really know what is in anyone's heart though? The Frotcast's official BPD GF Olivia Reingold did what any good WCHP dinner journalist would do and documented the action by taking a selfie video. You can poison our houseplants any day, girl.
