One of the very first classifications systems that were developed, classified ancient history into three broad eras. “I’m all in for killin’ frogs.” -The perfect summary for today’s episode for Bitches and Liches! Listen to the exciting finale of the Enormous Frog Secret arc. All the secrets are out now! Our group of heroes (?? their status as "heroes" is somewhat questionable by the end of this episode) confronted the so-called "Lord of Mistwold" and the sorceress Vasalisa Frank in the last episode, just as they were summoning Darkfiends! Now our group has to fight them off and maybe stop and think about their actions before rushing in (haha jk they rush in with no regard for consequence, the adorable rascals).
In episode 11 of Bitches & Liches, we get waaaay off track, go on a lot of tangents, and make Jessica wish she never started this damn show. Best quote from this episode? “Well, we may not win the fight, but we defeated Jessica." The group finally decides to confront Gyhra and Vasalisa, and things go exactly as well as you would expect.
In part 4 of Enormous Frog Secret, the group has a punderful encounter with Kiki, the evil swamp sorcerer, and they learn more about the enormous frog secret! Also, there are so many tree puns, it’s unbeleafable. There's a special and wonderful visual aid to go along with this episode, which you can find at bitchteamalpha.com!
In part 3 of Enormous Frog Secret, the Frog Secret is REVEALED (sort of)! Also, Katie continues living out all her dreams through her character, Sam learns the importance of context clues, and Tworian and Finn argue for a long time about frogs. The group finally meets the Lord of Mistwold and then takes a spooky boat ride!
Previously on Bitches and Liches, Rand, Tworian, Finn the crocodile, and Skort landed in an unusual swamp town called Mistwold. Now that each hero has gotten a special new weapon, they're going to make their way back to the inn for drinking, flirting, and frog-hunting!
In this episode, our heroes make it to Mistwold in their attempt to outrun (outboat?) Ivan and his lackeys. Skort flirts with the local innkeeper, Rand finds his happy place, and everyone gets a new toy! While they acquaint themselves with the town, the team provides Jessica with voice coaching, Katie learns that she can live out her greatest wish through her character, Skort, and Finn gets to go fast in the water. Also, Jessica gets to air some grievances at the beginning of the episode.
This episode marks the end of the Shadows of Tanglewood arc and gives you a chance to hear more about how Blue Rose works! The group levels up (and makes some great leveling up sounds). They all gain awesome new abilities and get to dive into their specializations! Spoiler: they specialize in exactly the things you would expect them to while also somehow specializing in completely unexpected things. Our adepts also have visions of their mentors who lead them in their journey to specializing their arcana, and their voices were planned well in advance so they sound super practiced and reasonable and not at all weird. Also, our favorite warrior goes BERSERK, and we learn that one of our group may come from a noble background.
In this episode, the group learns to read the room. The adventures finally meet Dartis, Talaith’s partner, and they have to figure out how to out-dance an exceptionally graceful faun. This episode featured a special guest: Nami! Jessica’s cat Nami decided to sit on Jessica’s dice and then continue to be completely in the way during the battle. If you want to see her cute face, check her out on Instagram @petteamalpha.
Time for the sprite fight! In this episode, the team battles the mechanical sprites they found in the mad fae’s workshop. And we decide what our first Bitches & Liches t-shirts will look like. Join Finn, Rand, Skort, and Tworian as they flail and chomp their way through this battle that goes on for maybe a little longer than it needs to.
Rand, Skort, Tworian, and Finn have found Talaith and the Ebban Manor. Now, they want to look at things with their dice eyes and figure out what the heck is going on with this big-ass, run-down manor. Some of our pets made an appearance this episode, and you can check them out here: https://www.instagram.com/petteamalpha/
In the first episode, the heroes received a psychic call for help and ventured out into Tanglewood Forest to find the one who sent the call. They were quickly surrounded by dangerous wolves and had to fight back. Will our heroes defeat the wolves and find the one who needs help? Will the crocodile nurse be able to heal their injuries? Will anyone get a cute bandage with rocketships on it to cover their injuries? Find out in this second episode of Bitches & Liches!
Welcome to the first episode of Bitches and Liches! Four strangers band together to fight against the forces of evil in Aldis. We’re starting out with the sample story in the back of the Blue Rose rulebook called “Shadows of Tanglewood.” Forgive the awkward silences and loud dice rolls--we’re still new to Blue Rose and to actual play podcasts, but we get a little better with each recording! There are already a bunch of rules we got wrong in this first arc that we’ll do better on the next time, and we’re excited to hear what others think of our game! If you have questions or suggestions for us, find us on Twitter @BitchesNLiches or check us out on http://bitchesandliches.com!
Alignment, world building, morality, player investment. This episode is a grab bag of stuff started off by your comments and feedback. We respond to questions about point buy vs. rolling, talk about one-page RPG systems, and even top it all off with news from Amazon.… Continue reading →
How old are you? Depending on which country you're in, the answer might be different, & while South Korean civil law has counted age from a person's date of birth since 1962, the continuing presence of the system commonly referred to as "Korean age" often leads to confusion, & many are now asking if the "Korean age" system should go away entirely. Korea FM's Chance Dorland spoke with Korean Studies professors Ingyu Oh & Michael Hurt to learn how "Korean age" is calculated & the arguments being made to keep, or remove, the system.
