The door wouldn't budge. The attendant tried pulling again, but it made no difference. He put his foot on the wall, putting all of his strength into pulling, and still the door wouldn't move. The Jester motioned him to step aside, and so he did. The Jester placed his hand onto the door, and small skeletal fingers crept out from around the hinges. They pushed their way out, forcing the door off of its hinges and it collapsed to the floor. The bishop and leaders look on in shock as the Jester picked up the heavily damaged door and leaned it up against the wall. The Swordsman Hero assured them that they would repair it before they left, and they went into the room. In the early morning hours of November 8th, 1992, 19-year-old nursing student Mischelle Lawless was found dead, just outside Benton, Missouri, on the side of Interstate 70. Investigators claimed the evidence suggested Mischelle had fought for her life, ran from her attacker and was pursued and caught before being returned to her car where she was shot three times in the back of the head. After questioning Mischelle's boyfriend and friends, the case went cold until April 7th of 1993, when 17 year old Josh Kezer was arrested and charged with the murder of Mischelle Lawless. Kezer's arrest was based on information provided to police by two jailhouse informants, and supporting testimony of a witness who claimed to see Mischelle and Josh arguing at a party the night of her murder, as well as another witness who placed Kezer at the scene of the crime. Despite the lack of physical evidence and the questionable credibility of the witnesses and informants, Josh Kezer was found guilty of second degree murder and he was sentenced to 60 years in prison. However, sixteen years later Josh Kezer was exonerated when discovered that the eyewitness placing Kezer at the scene had changed his account of that evening multiple  times. Kezer sued for wrongful conviction and won. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the Heroes are finally called upon by the bishop. They turn to see him standing with a few religious leaders. They look at the Heroes cautiously, unsure of what to make of them. The leaders looked wary of the Jester in particular, though there was probably good reason for that. The Bishop waved the Heroes over, and so they made their way to him. They continued through to a back room in the cathedral until they reached a small, old door. It's hinges were heavily rusted, and its wooden features were dry and cracked. The Bishop motioned for an attendant to open it, and they attempted to do so. They pulled out a small, old key and fit it into the lock. The Heroes explained to the bishop what had occurred to them on their travels. They told him of the cave with the massive beholder in it, and the ritual being performed on the Woman. They spoke of the town with the sinister lord, and what ill fate had befallen him. Finally, they discussed the mishap in a small village that had been taken over by vampires, and how they had destroyed an ancient vampire. The bishop listened intently, though was still very obviously put off by the Jester's smile throughout. When they had finished their tale, he sat for a moment in brief silence. He contemplated what they had said, and pondered whether or not it was at all connected. When he finally spoke, he explained to them that he would need to speak to other bishops to get further ideas on how to proceed. The Heroes were told to wait in the cathedral, and he would return in just a little while. They made their way back out into the large entryway they had entered from. Parishioners quickly made their way past them, clearly upset at the Jester's presence.
