“If the pay stays the same, and the authority stays the same, would you still want it?” asks Alex Hoffer, Chief Revenue Officer at Hoffer Plastics Corporation. As the CRO of a family-run business founded by his grandfather in 1953, Alex has had to think a lot about why he does what he does, and how he can continually do it better. In this episode of Sales Lead Dog, Alex talks about his transition from fixing air conditioners on the roof of his family's factory to running the company with his father and two sisters, and all the lessons he's learned along the way. When it comes to sales leadership, Alex has a lot to say about how to be “followable,” which is the ultimate goal of any leader. For Alex, being a leader is about being willing and able to do what others won't -- to run into the fire, instead of away from it. But he also realized early on in his career that if he kept running into fires without caring for his emotional health, he was going to run himself and his team into the ground. Tune in this week for thoughtful advice on leadership and self-care, a great analogy about CRM technology, and even a few good jokes. Quotes “You are unfollowable when you are not healthy yourself” (11:09-11:13) “Leadership comes down to a very simple thing: are you someone people want to follow?” (17:48-17:54) Links https://hofferplastics.com https://www.linkedin.com/company/hoffer-plastics/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexhoffer Empellor CRM Website https://www.empellorcrm.com Empellor CRM LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/empellorcrm Podcast production and show notes provided by FIRESIDE Marketing https://meetfireside.com/podcast-production-service/

We're excited to release the first of four parts to The Steel City Stories II. Alex Hoffer hosts this event that was held at Elder Brewing Company's first anniversary party in November of 2018. It was a great night of some of Joliet's favorite songwriters taking turns playing they're own tunes. They did four rounds just as they did in the first Steel City Stories. There was a mix of musicians that had done the first one along with new comers to the event. They were Brian Motyll, John Condron, Allison Flood, Chris Flood, Jrossgreen, Pete Jive, Alex Hoffer, and Eric Totherow in that order. Brent James of the Righteous Hillbillies made an appearance, too towards the end of the night. He'd been hangin out in the crowd when somebody had asked him to jump on up. We'll fill ya in on it when we release that round. We love listening to these folks play. It's cool to hear them play without bands, or to hear songs evolve over time. We hope you'll feel the same. Our Joliet community is rapidly growing. So many new things are set to hit in 2019. It's going to be a great year. I'm looking forward to the next wave of new albums that are coming out. Big Lagniappe, Riverhorse, Colonel Chloroform, and the list goes on. We will be doing our best to keep you informed of everything as it comes out. The festivals are going to be like nothing Joliet has seen in years. The musicians a so pumped up right now. It's electric in Downtown Joliet! Colleen Wild as been singing most of her life. We're glad she's made a home in our music scene. She appeared on The Steele City Stories episodes, and was at Third City Sound finishing up a recording project with Alex Hoffer. That one's gonna be nuts.... Dave and Colleen were cool enough to stick around to record Episode 50. We had a great time and we know you will, too. Enjoy. This show hopes to bring to light some of the great communities that are quietly gaining strength. We base ourselves out of Downtown Joliet from our stronghold, Chicago Street Pub. We record at Third City Sound located on the third floor of the same building as the pub. There is more and more going on each month with new businesses opening up in tandem with festivals and events. In Episode 20 we are happy to bring to you to members of the bad Saddles. None other than Nick Domberg and Tim Streit came upstairs to represent their band. The songs are great in this one, including a brand new title. We love these fine individuals. Please come out to Local Music Monday at the Rialto Square Theater on July 10th. Alex Hoffer, Prairie Ghost, and Chicago Farmer & Ed Anderson will rock your socks off!!! We have been meeting new people all the time that are creating communities that are willing to support one another in each of our endeavors. We've focused mainly on music in this show because that's where Dave and I come from. We are in the music and entertainment industry. The place that our friends go to play is Chicago Street Pub in Downtown Joliet. It was there that so many community driven people started gather. You can't help being swept up in the energy of everyone's excitement. We all realized what a wonderful place we could all create together. That is the inspiration for us to show you a glimpse of What's Goin' Down In Downtown J- Town.In Episode 19, we are happy to introduce to you some music from the West Chicago area. These guys heard about our show, and asked us if they could come on. Joe Loveit even came all the way out to the Monday Night Acoustic Open Mic at the beloved Chi'er hosted by Alex Hoffer. These guys take pride in their grass roots approach to the business side of music. I really like the tunes. They're solid guys that take what they do seriously, as they strive to evolve.Your hosts,David Francis & Tom Maslowskihttps://www.facebook.com/Bluesandcorduroys/https://www.facebook.com/Chicago-Street-Pub-Music-Food-Beer-205506299468892/https://www.facebook.com/thirdcitysound/
Our show is recorded live at Third City Sound on the third floor above Chicago Street Pub in Downtown Joliet. We love the culture that has been taking shape over the last ten years. The story is long but worthy of your attention. After we get a bunch of musicians on as guests we're gonna make our way through some of our favorite bars, venues, and restaurants. After we give you the tour of Joliet, we'd like to introduce you to some of our great friends from all over the area doing the same.In Episode 16, Mr. Ellis Wright jumps up to tell us how he came to be such a staple of our scene. He's relatively new to our family. We can't imagine making music without him now. We will post links to each of the bands that he's part of so you can find some music of his. Alex Hoffer ended up being our guest host, too.Your hosts,David Francis & Tom Maslowskihttps://www.facebook.com/thirdcitysound/?ref=br_rshttps://www.facebook.com/Chicago-Street-Pub-Music-Food-Beer-205506299468892/?ref=br_rshttps://www.facebook.com/TheBigLagniappe/?ref=br_rshttps://www.facebook.com/selectonesmusic/?ref=br_rshttps://www.facebook.com/John-Condron-The-Old-Gang-Orchestra-131365497752/https://www.facebook.com/drunkendonut/
"What's Goin Down In Downtown J-Town" is recorded at 3rd City Sound located in Downtown Joliet on the third floor above the place that did so much to cultivate this great music scene, Chicago Street Pub. Or as I like to call it, The Chi'er. I am your host Tom Maslowski. Along with me, whether stoic or animated, David Francis engineering and co-hosting out of his mind. In each of our episodes you can count on two songs with an interview in between from each artist or band. Though our shows are pre-recorded, we release them as live shows. We just mean that we captured the moments as they happened. There is no editing or pitch correcting done. Dave gives everything a good solid mix as to sooth your ears, but that's the extent of it. This episode features Alex Hoffer. His style is a mix of blues, rock, and funk. His voice is incredibly smooth. He plays all over Joliet and the surrounding areas. He has opened for Howie Day and The Gin Blossoms. Recently, Alex has been playing a ton of shows from Wisconsin to Missouri. He's one of the easiest people to work with in the music world. His original material hits the mark with great hooks and lyrics that tell a story. He is a master at drawing the audience in. Alex is all over the theme song for our show. He reads some lines in the monologue, and he's singing with John Condron on the vocals for the tune. I think we did a good job of picking his brain for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!Your hosts,Tom Maslowski & David Francishttps://www.facebook.com/thirdcitysound/https://www.facebook.com/alexhofferband/https://www.facebook.com/Chicago-Street-Pub-Music-Food-Beer-205506299468892/
