I believe most of us set out on the path to entrepreneurship with a lot of hope, energy, and excitement but it doesn't take long on the journey to realize we're not just expected to be great at our craft, there's a lot of other tricks we have to add to our bag. Marketing, sales, pitching, PR, bookkeeping to name a few. Not to mention the tough skin needed to overcome obstacles, comparison, hurt feelings, and setbacks. It's a bumpy road we're traveling and with time it can be hard to hang on to the hope, the excitement, the fun, and most of all —the creativity. In a black and white business world that says success is … Money, achievement, power. Do it this way! Follow this formula. How do you hang on to the wonder and creativity? In today's interview, Anita shares a compelling story of starting, pivoting, and starting again. Even though the path may look like wrong turns and failures, how each part of her journey taught lessons she would need for the next part.If you've ever felt you were losing your creativity, stuck in a role that no longer seems to fit, or just a creative robot for hire…  I hope Anita's story of bravery and courage to start again is just what you need to hear today.WILDFLOWER SHOWNOTES : shannaskidmore.com/anita-cheung

In 1979, four teenagers, Gracie, Laine and Clementine, saw something strange in the night sky.  They woke hours later, with no memory of what happened. One of their friends, FanBoy, had disappeared. Forty years later, Grace is at the peak of her career as Chief Scientist at Feelrite, a global biotech company. A former colleague, Dr Anita Cheung, hands Grace a disturbing report that suggests Feelrite's new anti-ageing treatment has serious side-effects.  When Grace raises the side-effects at Feelrite's annual board meeting, she is suspended and disgraced.  She begins to manifest powers and discovers her best friend, Laine, is also experiencing a new awareness. In order to get Grace more evidence of the side-effects, Dr Anita Cheung sneaks into the Feelrite Laboratory.

Feelrite uses its public relations machine to discredit Grace, but the plan backfires and Grace starts trending on Twitter with a group called #madscientists.  Kallie gets Percy out of her prison-like bedroom, and the girls escape for an innocent day of shopping, but Daphne wants Percy home for another youth-restoring blood transfusion, so she sends Andrew to find the girls and bring them back to the Mallard Mansion. Grace starts to worry when she can't reach Dr Anita Cheung. She and Laine head out to the Feelrite Laboratory, and discover the truth behind Fountain of Youth. Grace and Laine find a way into the Mallard Mansion to rescue Kallie. Daphne and Grace have a confrontation.

Our friend and fellow small business owner Anita Cheung is on the podcast with us today! As an entrepreneur with many different ventures under her belt we were really curious to ask Anita about the transitions between each one, what it was like for her working with business partners versus working alone and how she juggles everything she does. Anita shared what brings her confidence and joy, how she is constantly trying new things and how at the core of it she wants to share what's helped her and uplift others with those same tools. Tune in and hear about how and why Anita started Social Yoga, what the process of ending that to start Moment Meditation looked like (hint there was some crying on her partners floor) and how she moved on from Moment Meditation into In Bed with Betty and Create with Neets. We talk about how our businesses fit into the current state of capitalism, our relationships with money and how that's linked to our identity as business owners or entrepreneurs and we also introduce a new segment in which we ask Anita 4 questions we'll now be asking everyone at the end of each episode! What was her biggest “failure” in business so far? What was her biggest success? What Instagram account does she get the most joy from? What does she do that's just for her? - Find The Messy Middle podcast online Website: https://www.saltdesignco.studio/messymiddlepod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/messymiddlepod Email: messymiddlepod@saltdesignco.studio Find Salt Design Co. online Website: https://www.saltdesignco.studio Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/saltdesigncompany Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SaltDesignCompany

On this episode I’m joined by Feeding Mama founder Mona Stilwell. What I loved most about sitting down with Mona is hearing about her non-linear professional past and journey into Motherhood. Mona shares how her Mother’s gift of a postpartum chef gave her more than sustenance and describes how she then took a Chinese tradition and created a meaningful way to nourish new parents. *Note I nearly ended the interview early, but Mona kindly reminded me that we had only talked off air about how she became a Mother. Keep listening past the 45 min marker because its exceptionally moving. * feedingmama.ca @feedingmama *CHECK OUT MY PATREON

On this episode hear from mindfulness entrepreneur Anita Cheung. Anita opens up about the most recent transitions in her career and what led her to (and why she won't quit) meditation. We breakdown the stereotypes and misconceptions of meditation and what so often what people think she does vs. reality (hint - it's not sukhasana all day long). Neets also gives some great advice to anyone wanting to start meditating. We jam on In Bed With Betty, #glittergurlz and The Social Yoga (#throwback). Anita reflects on her eclectic offerings (like teaching sex ed to teenagers and coding) and how it's got her to where she is today. She shares an awakening she had whilst stepping into her identity as a woman of colour and sheds light on differentiating cultural appropriation and appreciation (like Buddha bowls and Jesus pants, both of which are no bueno, IMO). Anita divulges in her journey with mental health and illness, what she thought depression should like and recounts being diagnosed with PMDD. We switch gears and go down memory lane and reminisce on our fav childhood styles. Flairs, GAP sweaters, tearaway pants, jelly shoes and clear bags. Wait, is this 1998 or 2018?
