We’re back for season two! Funim-I mean Nozomi finally released Big Windup 2 and we’re covering it, right here, right now. Joining me are my cohorts of the Taiiku Podcast, Corey (@coreyzone) and Chris (@gokuffy). And in our ongoing Kurosawa review, Chris and I talk about No Regrets for Our Youth, the first in the post-war Kurosawa set. Listen Show notes: 0:30 – Chris and I resume our Kurosawa watch with No Regrets for Our Youth! 37:24 – Chris, Corey, and I talk about Big Windup 2! Next time is One Wonderful Sunday, Rolling Girls, and Minami Kamakura High School Girls’ Cycling Club!
Man, we talked a long time… At over three hours on the horn and an yet to be determined amount of time edited (still editing as I write this), it may be the longest just Chris and I have talked. But it was worth it. We’re finishing up the First Films of Akira Kurosawa set with The Men Who Tread on the Tiger’s Tail; continuing on to a long discussion on Makoto Shinkai and his newest film, your name.; then finally we wrap up with the very good baseball anime, Big Windup. Listen Show notes: 1:08 – We start the show with The Men Who Tread on the Tiger’s Tail! 26:04 – We talk up some Shinkai in general. 33:07 – We talk A LOT about Your Name! 1:02:25 – Your Name spoiler section! 1:46:29 – We talk slightly less about Big Windup! Next time, good question.
We are back once again, and it is finally baseball season! My White Sox are a surprising 6-5 only nine games into their season, but there’s still time to #TankForBeer for the rebuilding Sox. More importantly, we’re here with Chris (@gokuffy) and Jared (@savevsjared) to talk about March Comes in Like a Lion. Chris and I also continue our trip through the Kurosawa catalogue, this time checking out his second ever film, The Most Beautiful. Listen Show notes: 0:35 – We start the show with Chris, talking The Most Beautiful! 20:59 – Jared joins us to discuss the recently ended March Comes in Like a Lion! Next time will be Big Windup! I should also consider getting back to Slam Dunk.
We say farewell to the Winter season and welcome in Spring! Except, er, it's not too much different, with both Yowamushi Pedal and Tiger Mask W being the only sports anime airing. To shake things up a bit, the Matts check out an old classic in Big Wind-Up as well as look into Encouragement of Climb, which has a new season starting up soon!
Sports is a very popular anime genre in the recent history of anime, and Big Windup is one such title attempting to grab the fandom behind it. However, a title’s offerings outside of the sport alone is what makes it stand out from the crowd. In this episode of the Animecast, those such offerings are the main topic of discussion in the review of Big Windup Season 1 and 2! As mentioned in the podcast, this copy of Big Windup 2 was provided to us for review by Nozomi Entertainment and Rightstuf. The intro song for this episode is the OP for Big Windup 2 called “Natsuzora” by Galileo Galilei. The outro for this episode is the ED for Big Windup 2 called “Shisō Densha” by CureaL.
Micah Solusod Back in June at HamaCon here in Huntsville, AL we got the chance to talk to one of Funimation’s freshest talents, Micah Solusod! He’s probably best known for his work as Soul Eater Evans in Soul Eater. However he has already been in several roles, including stuff from Birdy the Mighty Decode, Big Windup!, and Corpse Princess. He recently has reopened his website which you should totally check out. Protip: When conducting podcast interviews, do not record them right beside air conditioning units. This is very important!
For this installment, I talk about a golden boy who wants all the pretty women around him. No, I’m not talking about Bill Clinton. I’m talking a look at Production IG.’s masterpiece, Golden Boy. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, but most of all you’ll want to watch this series. So take a gander at it, you wont be disappointed.Download | Email | iTunesThe Animeshon Podcast is part of the Anime3000 Network.
