In this week's episode, we have Brian Pawlowski, the Chief Development Officer at Quantum. Quantum helps organizations in harnessing the potential of their expanding unstructured data, offering an affordable solution for storing data for decades to come. During our conversation, we delved into the shifting data environment, driven by the exponential growth of unstructured data and the transformative capabilities of AI, empowering organizations to derive meaningful insights from this data abundance. Furthermore, we investigated the optimal combination of cloud and on-premises storage solutions, taking into account specific use case needs, budget constraints, and security considerations. Key Discussion Points: What fundamental changes in data usage and characteristics distinguish unstructured data from the past? Are the use cases of long-term data archiving, enterprise backup, surveillance and security all served by the same architecture? How do government regulations on data storage and handling of PII impact Quantum in countries like China, and India? Ultimately, most of what we do in business today relies on data of all kinds. In the last decade or so, the rise in unstructured data has meant that companies need to find ways to store and then use that data in ways they hadn't needed to before. On this episode of IT Visionaries, Brian Pawlowski, Chief Development Officer, of Quantum, discusses what that means and how data storage has evolved. Kubernetes promises to bring a new scalable architecture to the data center, be it on prem, hosted or in the cloud. This fluidity of application development and hosting from your laptop to the cloud in a consistent protected environment is fueling the rapid uptake of Kubernetes across all computing segments and industries. And yet we are still basically seeing the beginning of the adoption curve. Whenever a technology disruption occurs like the one presented by Kubernetes, we ask ourselves "What is different? And what remains the same?" For the latter question, just as it was with the prior disruption of virtualization, the applications themselves remained the critical piece to get right and optimize. So, what is Kubernetes providing applications? And what things will remain a challenge as people move towards a Kubernetes dominated world? Join DriveScale's Brian Pawlowski as we discuss these topics.
Jonathan had the opportunity to sit down with local leader and all-around excellent guy, Brian Pawlowski. Brian Pawlowski is a wealth of knowledge. Brian is a USMC veteran, former Deputy Chief of Staff for South Bend Mayor, Pete Buttigieg and he also was an important part of the campaign that helped US Senator, Todd Young get elected. Because of Brian's extensive experience as an athlete, military veteran and working on both sides of the political aisle to impact change, Brian was a perfect guest to discuss the topic of successful teams. Brian shared with us the three pillars of success from the book Team of Teams, by General Stanley Mcchrystal. This episode will be worth your time to learn about teams, personal development and an important tip on how to be a better parent.
