You want the results. You don't want the work. That's the problem. This world made you soft. It made you comfortable. It sold you a version of "success" that doesn't require sweat, hills, or throwing up on the field. Niyi breaks down why the gap between where you are and where you want to be isn't a mindset gap, it's a work gap. He pulls from his own days grinding through NFL training, the moments he wanted to quit on that hill, and the exact feeling that showed up on the other side of pushing through it. If you're waiting for motivation to show up before you put in the work, you're going to wait forever. This episode is the wake up call. Stop being lazy. Stop being delusional about what it actually takes. More is required. Embrace it. 5 days left to lock in your spot for Lock In, my new 90 day coaching program. One goal. 90 days. No distractions. I had a board member, let's call her Lena, who told me she'd rather stick hot needles in her eye than ask her friends for money. So I asked if we could count on her for the $35,000 check instead. She said yes, done, no problem. Then she spent the next several years opening her home and hosting people for us.Lena wasn't refusing to fundraise. She had no idea what fundraising was.In 20 years I have never met a board that refuses to fundraise. I've met a lot of boards nobody bothered to instruct. And in most board members' heads, fundraising has exactly one definition: standing in front of your college roommate with your hand out. So when you say "we need the board more engaged in fundraising," what lands in their body is "we need you to go be humiliating at a cocktail party." No wonder you get crickets.Underneath that there are two fears nobody says out loud. One is social capital, they don't want to be embarrassed by how you treat their friends. You're asking to borrow their reputation and you haven't told them what you're going to do with it. The other is reciprocity, if I ask Bob, Bob asks me. And the third thing we never talk about: even rich people have money baggage. Money is not neutral territory for anybody. So I show them the machine. Six stages of EFOS, and the board leads engagement, helps with prequalification, participates in qualification, cultivation and stewardship. Staff owns the proposal, and not because it's the scary part. It's the technical part. You physically cannot strong-arm someone inside a system where they're invited to opt out at six separate doors. Then the part nobody believes the first time they hear it: there is no ask. No pounding heart, no number said out loud into silence. We dissolved that moment nine months upstream in qualification. My client Amy ran this exact play last month, donor ballpark was $75,000, they came back with $120,000 unrestricted. Nobody asked anybody for anything.I'm also giving you the board action menu, why the menu itself is the training, the Jeffersonian dinner that changes the host more than the guests, why you recruit in twos and threes, and the one word I want deleted from your vocabulary entirely.Your board is not the obstacle to your major gifts system. They're the first stage of it.What You'll Learn:The three things actually going on when your board "won't fundraise"The two fears your board members will never say out loudWhere the board belongs in each of the six EFOS stagesWhy there is no ask, and how it disappears in qualificationThe board action menu that teaches without a single trainingHow to set a give/get as a floor, not a ceilingWhat to do about the board member who does too much of the wrong thingImportant Links:My Big Ask Gifts ProgramMy Book, Get That Money HoneyMy Newsletter

What happens when a leader stays incredibly busy but keeps avoiding the work that only they can do? In this episode, we unpack what "lazy leadership" actually looks like and why it has far less to do with how hard we work than with which responsibilities we choose to avoid. We discuss the difference between delegation, rest, hustle, and avoidance, along with the consequences our teams and future selves inherit when difficult decisions are continually delayed. We also explore how our unspoken behaviors teach employees what standards really matter, whether we intend them to or not. Finally, we challenge ourselves to identify the one difficult responsibility that belongs on our plate and deliberately do the hard thing before somebody else inherits the problem. Main topics:  Recognizing selective leadership avoidance Delegation versus avoiding responsibility Modeling standards through actions Protecting teams from burnout Practicing deliberate self leadership Main takeaway:  "The opposite of a lazy leader is not a hustling leader. It's a deliberate one." You can work from sunrise to sunset and still avoid the most important work in your business. Leadership isn't measured by how many visits you complete, emails you answer, or boxes you check. Sometimes the real work is raising the price, writing the SOP, confronting poor performance, reviewing the numbers, or making the decision you've been putting off. And when we avoid those responsibilities, they don't disappear. Someone inherits them—our employees, our family, our clients, or our future selves. Good leadership isn't about doing everything Links: Check out our Starter Packs See all of our discounts!

A man decides he is serious about his faith, and somewhere along the way that becomes the reason he stops trying. His work is sloppy, his day is unstructured, and his wife carries the house while he tells himself he is just not attached to worldly things. He is not being humble, he's using God as cover, and the men around him can see it even when he cannot. Today we sit down with JJ Sanford, a father of nine and the president of the University of Dallas, to talk about the excuse Catholic men keep reaching for. We discuss why magnanimity and humility are sister virtues rather than opposites, why St. Joseph was not spending his Saturdays on the couch while Our Lady did the work, what it means to live your whole day as a prayer instead of fencing your faith into a morning offering and a Sunday Mass, and why outsourcing your thinking to a machine leaves you unable to answer the one question that actually matters: what is God calling you to do with what He gave you. Brent Richard joins Michael Chernow to break down the habits, discipline, and sacrifices that completely changed his life. From waking up at 4AM and discovering the massive productivity advantage of owning the early morning hours, to building an audience of more than 200,000 people and creating Early Dad, Brent explains why consistency beats motivation every time. They also dive into what it actually means to be a present father, why chasing money can come at the expense of your family, and how our phones are stealing moments we'll never get back. Michael and Brent discuss the pressure men carry, finding purpose through fatherhood, building discipline, and why sometimes you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and simply do the work.Later, the conversation turns to a topic they know may be controversial: traditional family roles, being the provider, stay-at-home motherhood, and why they believe there's nothing wrong with a family choosing that dynamic if both partners genuinely want it.If you want more time, more discipline, better health, and a better relationship with your family, this episode is for you.Subscribe to The Michael Chernow Podcast for new episodes every week.KOHhttps://kreaturesofhabit.comIGhttps://www.instagram.com/michaelchernowhttps://www.instagram.com/kreaturesofhabit#MichaelChernow #BrentRichard #EarlyDad #Fatherhood #Discipline #Productivity #MorningRoutine

In today's episode, Brock Johnson is drawing a hard line on where AI belongs in his content process and where it doesn't. Claude never touches his ideas, scripts, captions, his tone, or what he actually says on camera — that's taste, and taste isn't automatable. Brock only uses AI when two things are true at the same time: He can verify the output is accurate, and people actually want the AI version of that specific task. Writing code passes that test. Writing hooks doesn't. What Claude does own is everything mechanical and repetitive that never needed a human in the first place — this is what he means by "lazy," and it has nothing to do with motivation. Brock walks through the full backend stack: Claude organizing shot lists by location and complexity, Claude Cowork driving Remotion to cut and caption footage he has already scripted and recorded, automatic file organization straight off the SD card, scheduling and format-spacing through Metricool, a repost engine that resurfaces top performers every 60–90 days, DM and comment triage sorted by urgency (not answered), true sales attribution instead of vanity metrics, and a live follower/metrics wall. None of it creates anything — it just clears the mechanical work off his plate so the only thing he's spending time on is the part only Brock can do. Watch On YouTube

JUL. 23, 2026Always do a good job."The Lord God put the man in the garden of Eden to care for it and work it." Ge 2:15 NCVThe first thing God did when He made Adam was put him to work. That's because work gives us a sense of purpose, meaning, and dignity. "God put the man in the garden...to... work it." So Adam was a gardener. But whether you count cash in a bank, trade futures on Wall Street, flip burgers in a beach-side stand, whip up pasta specials at a five-star restaurant, fell giant timber in the forest or split and deliver firewood, coach a team, pastor a congregation, publish bestselling books, deliver newspapers in the early morning hours, star in your own television show, farm a large acreage, mow and edge neighborhood lawns, go out on the road as a salesman for computers, drive a truck loaded with machinery, build homes, clean swimming pools, argue cases before a judge, or settle family disputes as a counselor, always do a good job. A wise man once said: "Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence." The biblical character Daniel did that. And like cream, he rose to the top in Babylon. "Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him" (Da 6:3 KJV).There are no small jobs, only people who perceive them as small and become small in doing them. The Bible says: "Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper" (Pr 13:4 NLT). AUG. 7, 2026The rewards of vision and hard work."Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper." Pr 13:4 NLTIn the fall of 1894, Guglielmo retreated to his room on the third floor. All summer while on vacation, he read books and filled notebooks with squiggly diagrams. Now the time had come for him to work. Every day, he rose early. He worked all day and long into the night, to the point that his mother became alarmed. He had never been a robust person, but now he had become appallingly thin. His face was drawn, and his eyes were often glazed over with fatigue. Finally, the day came when he announced that his instruments were ready. He invited the family to his room and, pushing a button, he succeeded in ringing a bell on the first floor! While his mother was amazed, his father was not. He saw no use in being able to send a signal so short a distance. So Guglielmo labored on. Little by little, he made changes in his sending circuits so he could send a signal from one hill to the next and then beyond the hill. Eventually his invention was perfected-partly due to vision and inspiration, but mostly due to perseverance.Guglielmo Marconi was eventually hailed as the inventor of wireless telegraphy, radio's forerunner. He not only received a Nobel Prize in physics but also acquired a seat in the Italian senate. If you want what successful people have, you must be willing to do what successful people do-and 99 percent of their success is due to vision and hard work. The moment revenue feels guaranteed, many founders stop hunting. They make fewer outbound calls. They stop improving the offer. And they assume current clients will stay forever. That comfort can become a major liability. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why recurring revenue can create a false sense of security• How relying on a few major clients increases business risk• Why consistent prospecting must continue even when revenue is strong• How a full pipeline gives you greater independence and stability The truth is simple: Yesterday's contract does not guarantee tomorrow's revenue. Keep prospecting. Keep improving the service. Keep filling the top of the funnel. When new opportunities are constantly entering the pipeline, losing one major client becomes a temporary setback instead of a business-threatening crisis. True security comes from staying hungry. If you've ever tried to force  yourself out of procrastination, you know how well that works. You can know exactly what to do. You can have the time. You can want the result so badly it aches — and still find yourself answering emails, returning something to Nordstrom, or deciding the junk drawer has to be dealt with right now. That isn't laziness. Laziness would be doing nothing, and you are doing a great deal. You're just not doing the one thing that matters. Which means the problem was never your character. It's the state you're in. In this first Rewire Friday, D'Arcy takes you inside a training room where a woman she calls Sarah volunteered her procrastination for a demonstration and landed on the honest word for it: not incapable, not lazy. Stagnant. And instead of asking how to make her motivated, the trainer asked the question almost nobody asks — what would get you out of the state you're in? Inside: what a state actually is and why naming one changes what you can do next, the cost of turning a behavior into an identity, the difference between the states that push you and the states that pull you — and why procrastination is neither, which is exactly why willpower slides off it. Ten minutes, one rewire, one question to ask before Monday. Timestamps: 2:27 — The word that changes everything: not incapable, not lazy — stagnant 3:00 — The trainer's question instead of "How do we get you motivated?" 3:32 — Why wanting the result isn't enough—and the difference between desire and the state that creates action 4:08 — Why motivation is rarely the next state, and finding the bridge that gets you there 6:11 — The cost of turning a behavior into an identity: "I procrastinated, so I'm lazy" 6:57 — States that push you, states that pull you, and why procrastination is neither 8:15 — Chaining anchors: what change work actually looks like, and why D'Arcy isn't teaching it here 10:42 — What Sarah said when it was over—and why the goal is freedom, not productivity 11:50 — The one question to ask this week instead of yelling at yourself

Proverbs doesn't treat laziness as a personality trait or a bad habit — it treats it as a producer. Lazy hands make for poverty. The way of the lazy person is blocked with thorns. There's always a lion in the public square, always a reason they can't work, can't try, can't show up. Life is happening to them rather than through them. That posture doesn't produce the life people say they want. It produces the opposite. Our culture has been teaching this posture to an entire generation — telling young people to follow their dreams while failing to give them the work ethic, the coaching, or the tools to build toward those dreams. The result is potential with no path to it. Dreams become real through work. There is no other path. And to young women especially: if you're dating someone in his twenties who doesn't want to produce anything and has a library of excuses for why — pay close attention. That pattern doesn't change on its own.But work for the wrong reasons — fear, ego, status, filling an emotional gap — leads to burnout, workaholism, and a harvest that leaves you empty even when it's full. The distinction that keeps ambition healthy is straightforward: love your family more than you love the rewards of work, and love Jesus more than you love the deal. When those are true, the character of your work changes. You don't take shortcuts. You don't use a double standard. And you build a reputation that can't be purchased. That reputation, over time, earns more work, more trust, and more opportunity — not as a formula, but as a consequence of character.Support the mission of the Salty Pastor ministry! What was the real cost? Are you working primarily for the right reasons — or for fear, approval, status, or filling a gap that work will never actually fill? How can you tell? What would it look like to work "as working for the Lord" in your specific job or role right now? What would change about how you show up?

Steven Jarvis welcomes back financial advisor Jim Young to discuss how tax planning has evolved over the past five years and why reviewing actual tax returns still matters. Jim shares how today's tax planning software has made advisors more efficient, but explains why it shouldn't replace understanding a client's return line by line. The discussion highlights the difference between reviewing a tax return and actually providing tax planning that helps clients make better decisions. Steven and Jim also explore how recent tax law changes created new planning opportunities, making it even more important for advisors to understand what's happening on the return.  https://zurl.co/uVXAx

Welcome to Vatican Insider on a weekend of scorching temperatures in much of the northern hemisphere of the world, with big time heatwaves in Europe and the United States! And welcome to a special I've prepared for what is normally the interview segment of VI – I call it the lazy, hazy summer days of ferragosto – life in Italy in August which, of course, starts this weekend. You learn the origin of the name August and the meaning of a very important word in the Italian language – Ferragosto! August is not just a month in Italy. It is THE month and life in Italy in August is very different from so many other countries from stores, offices, pharmacies, movie theatres, cafes and restaurants, and many more spots closing for a holiday period – chiuso per ferie. If that's not enough, doctors and other medical personnel can take weeks, maybe even a month, off at ferragosto…situations we'd never think of finding in the US, for example. Not to mention the annual snowfall in Rome on August 5! It's a fun special so stay tuned after the news segment.
