In today's episode, I interviewed one of my best friends and fellow mamas, Cora Poage. She and I have known each other since we worked together at a summer job in college, and we've been really fortunate that our growth trajectory has mirrored each other's in many ways. So much so that we both had our first babies in 2022, almost twenty years after we initially met. My daughter is seven months older than Cora's son, Nico.Today, Cora shares how she went from hoping to have an unmedicated homebirth in a tub with a midwife to a hospital birth with pitocin and an epidural thanks to high blood pressure and stalled labor. She was so grateful to her friends who told her to have a birth plan but to be prepared to throw it out. This allowed her to stay strong and advocate for herself and her baby.We Also Hear: How a Nurse Hand Expressed Cora's Breast To Get Her Colostrum to Flow The breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle feeding regimen was around the clock for the first few weeks. How Cora kept her sanity and fed her baby without having to get up every two hours in the middle of the night. How Cora released her pre-mama self and found surprising joys in motherhood. Gender role challenges What happened one night when her pump broke? Breastmilk supply food recommendations like oatmeal, quinoa, and post-natal vitamins How to be gentle with yourself when you lose your shit! And so much more! You can find Cora at: https://www.instagram.com/coachcoco/ or CoraPoage.com.Thank you so much for listening. In this episode she shares: The role of soul resonance in her spirituality Why her beliefs are not a threat to yours Her father's words about the Bible that clicked 20 years later. The work she did with her first mentor, Cora Poage, around intuition and inner child healing The role of trust in her life and that of her clients Her experience with signs, energy and connecting to a higher power Her favorite way to pray This episode is a permission slip to you to own your truth when it comes to your beliefs to make your spirituality your own, and open up to the world we can't see, where you get to be human and holy as a soul having a human experience. Cora Poage was a high-achiever doing the whole ‘personal growth’ thing perfectly. She set intentions. Invested in retreats for herself. Was kind to others… Until a divine meeting with a mentor gifted her with the words, “You’re constantly performing. You know what everybody wants you to say and you say it.” “You have no idea who you really are.” Whether we know it consciously or not, this is a phenomenon many of us experience. We think we’re doing all the ‘right’ things until one day we realise – according to who? Who determined what was right? It wasn’t us. Unconsciously as children we watch what everybody else tells us is ‘good’ and our mind says ‘be good like this to be loved.’ And it continues until adulthood if we don’t become conscious of it. Now a Soul Alignment Coach, I chatted with Cora Poage about what goes on in the battle between the head & ‘who we should be’ VS. our soul & who we innately are. Inspired takeaways include: • What living ‘in your head’, perfectionism and head-based living looks and feels like • Cora’s personal experience of what it feels like to switch into living true to your soul and truly surrendering to the greatness within • Tips on how you can release your fears and allow yourself to really hear your own divine truth • How to feel the difference in your body when you’re living from your head or your soul • Practical guidance on how to actually let go of your perception of control and let your heart and soul guide you in life • The truth about the challenge and pain that can be involved in surrendering, and the peace and clarity and relief that is on the other side • The difference between manifesting from an ego-based perspective and manifesting from the soul for the highest good WANT MORE?
