The story behind the Dirty Docker

Life in the Peloton

It might only be Wednesday, but this week is absolutely massive for us at Life in the Peloton. It's the week of the Dirty Docker—our inaugural cycling and running festival happening up in my hometown of Lancefield this weekend! With such an exciting event on the horizon, I thought, why not dedicate this entire podcast to the Dirty Docker? This event has been over a year in the making, and I can't wait to share all the details with all of our listeners. Even if you can't make it to Lancefield, whether you're overseas or just tied up, I want you to feel like you're part of the action. We'll be diving deep into what the Dirty Docker is all about. From cross-country running to cyclocross, and of course, our premier event—the Cobawsome Gravel Ride—there's something for everyone. But that's not all. We'll also be exploring each of these disciplines with the experts who helped bring them to life. You'll get to understand the roots of cross-country running, the history of cyclocross, and the unique aspects of our Dirty Docker cyclocross course, including a nod to the iconic Cross Vegas course. Plus, my good mate and the voice of the Dirty Docker, Paul Van Der Ploeg, will join us for a deep dive into the gravel phenomenon—where it's been, where it's going, and what makes it so special. So, whether you're gearing up to join us this weekend or just tuning in from afar, this episode is packed with insights and excitement to get you pumped. I'm really excited for this one, guys.  Give it a listen and get ready for an epic weekend! Cheers, Mitch

Sunday | Our mini series from the cyclo-cross World Championships concludes with coverage of the men’s elite race from Valkenburg. Lionel Birnie is joined by cyclo-cross experts Renaat Schotte and Balint Hamvas to discuss Wout Van Aert’s third consecutive title, and a victory that, while not a surprise, had not been expected. We discuss what went so right for Van Aert and what went so wrong for Mathieu Van der Poel, the home favourite who looked at one stage to be slipping outside the medal positions.
We also talk to Brook Watts, the man who founded Cross Vegas in Las Vegas about what makes the perfect cyclo-cross course and the differences between the sport in Europe and on the other side of the Atlantic. September 18, 2013   Host Drew Edsall is joined by Rotem Ishay and Skyler Trujillo while on location at Interbike in Las Vegas. Rotem is a 9-time Israeli National XC Mountain Bike Champ and Skyler is one of the top young racers.   Listen in as they discuss everything from blood testing for performance and recovery to the Cross Vegas race and the Boo Bus. Listeners will get some great insight into Rotem's studies and how they apply to performance.      The Boo Bicycles - TrainingPeaks Cyclocross team will be based around young and promising Colorado riders Skyler Trujillo and Rotem Ishay. Both riders are focused on taking their racing to a higher level over the course of the season with a schedule that will take them out of their natural Colorado habitat and to UCI races all over the country.   Skyler caught the nation’s attention by being selected to race in the U23 Cyclocross World Championships last February in Louisville, KY. Though Rotem raced a more regional cyclocross schedule last year, he had strong results against local professionals and has three medals from Collegiate Mountain Bike and Cyclocross Nationals to his name in the last year alone.   About Boo Bicycles:   "Boo Bicycles was founded in 2009 by Nick Frey after graduating from Princeton with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After successfully racing a prototype bamboo-carbon fiber bicycle in the spring of 2008, Nick was contacted by James Wolf, an industrial designer and master craftsman… James Wolf, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design in Industrial Design, has over 15 years of experience working with all types of bamboo. His company, James Wolf Designs, has specialized in custom structural bamboo installations as well as high-end furniture, fly rods, boats, and much more.   As a professional cyclist, multiple national champion, and mechanical engineer, Nick brought his wealth of experience in the high-end bicycle world to the table. As a master craftsman and talented designer, James took Nick’s ideas and made them a reality. Together, the two have created the highest performance, highest quality bamboo bicycles in the world."   Related Show Links: Rotem's Website - www.rotemracing.com Skyler's Website - www.skylertrujillo.com Jamis Bikes - www.jamisbikes.com Jamis Bikes Facebook Page - www.facebook.com/jamisofficial Boo Bicycles - www.boobicycles.com Boo Bicycles Facebook Page - www.facebook.com/boobicycles Interbike - www.interbike.com Get the App free, a free tshirt, and other deals by becoming a MBR member - www.mountainbikeradio.com/buy-mountain-bike-radio/
