This is a big one for me! Right when I was getting into instrumental music (2016) Marbin hit Facebook with a handful of viral hits such as "Redline" and "African Shaptay" and Marbin has been on my radar every since! Dani is once of the most the fun guitarist to watch and listen to! From is technical ability and knowledge of the instrument to his songwriting and emotion in his playing. This is the second time I've had to opportunity to talk to Dani, both times such a blast. We have a very freeform conversation here which is something I really enjoy but especially with a gust like Dani. We talk the early days of his guitar journey, the start of Marbin, and all the way up to the tour they just got back from. That and so much more on this weeks episode! Dani and Danny discuss talking to managers and jazz students
Dani and Danny discuss how the NYC jazz fantasy survives.
On this Dani Rabin interview, his disappointment in the lack of passion of his teachers at Berklee... starting Marbin from nothing and working up to 300 dates a year for a few years straight to get things moving, music as a portrait of your imagination and as a portrait of your reality, finding his place as an improvisational artist, why “You're NOT in control of your growth,” TIME as the greatest healer, getting in trouble crossing the border, trusting new relationships and loads more. Somewhat controversial thoughts, but VERY open and candid If you'd like to support this show: http://www.everyonelovesguitar.com/support Dani Rabin is the co-founder & guitarist of the jazz/rock band Marbin. On Episode 39, Dani Rabin, founding member and guitarist of Chicago-based jazz outfit Marbin, leaves me with an astounding amount of philosophical takes—he muses about his thoughts on the lack of consensus in the jazz genre and the influence of the cultural zeitgeist on labels, how editing has opened the door to accuracy - and what that means for people trying to preserve perfection, why his band DOESN’T rehearse, and at long last, an explanation of the story behind their song “Alabama Sock Party!” **Also note that since this interview was conducted, of course thanks to COVID-19 precautions, Marbin’s tour has unfortunately been cancelled. So you’ll hear us discussing tour dates which are no longer happening. That being said, most of the band members are conducting lessons via Skype and offering their musical talents to you in many ways if you’re quarantined at home, so please go follow the links below. facebook.com/marbinmusic marbinmusic.com marbinmusic.bandcamp.com bandsintown.com/marbin Instagram: marbinmusic
