Here we go. It's finally here! Episode 54! It's huge for us, so we are absolutely delighted to do it in the company of such esteemed guests. SHE is one of the co-hosts of the Blumhouse podcast ShockWaves and the new Fangoria podcast Nightmare University while HE is one of the co-hosts of Dungeons & Dragons podcast Fear Initiative and they are BOTH co-directors of Christmas horror anthology, All The Creatures Were Stirring... it's Rebekah and David McKendry! Their chosen film? Slugs! It's finally here! The podcast has finally come full circle with this, Slugs, the film that began it all! Yes! Over a year ago now, Andy subjected Mitch to the film after several bottles of wine and a podcast was born. Now, this horror power couple have selected it for defence. Does it need defending? Perhaps. Should you watch it? 100%. Directed by JP Simon, who also brought us the wonderfully batshit Pieces, Slugs delivers insanity, gore and goo by the bucketload and somehow manages to become a film the belies its budget to become a riotous, urgently paced experience. The Synopsis is as follows: The townsfolk of a rural community are dying in strange and gruesome circumstances. Following the trail of horrifically mutilated cadavers, resident health inspector Mike Brady is on the case to piece together the mystery. He soon comes to a terrifying conclusion giant slugs are breeding in the sewers beneath the town, and they're making a meal of the locals! Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents. If Episode 52 is notable for 2 things, then this, Episode 53, is also notable for something new and also for something quite bold... Regular listeners will know that we have long imagined a time when a filmmaker would be daring enough to bring on one of their own films and, yes, it's finally happened. First up, it's director and host of Blumhouse podcast, Fear Initiative... it's Josh Forbes! His chosen film? Well, it is of course, his own film, Contracted: Phase 2! Coming hot on the heels of the original, Contracted: Phase 2 sees previous podcast guest Matt Mercer level up into the lead role of Riley, battling the gooey disease ravaging his body. Josh's discussion is frank, honest and an incredibly revealing peek into his thoughts on the film and his journey with it. The Synopsis is as follows: It's spreading... After Contracted unleashed the world's most horrifying virus, this sequel picks up the story as newly infected Riley races against time to contain the outbreak, even as it ravages his own body. But how do you stop a disease when you are the disease? Please note that this episode contains strong language, conversations of an adult nature and EXTREMELY Scottish accents. Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Thank you for making us your destination listening for this next interval in your existence. With all the available choices you have to choose from as far as doundcasts go - or "podcasts" as many people still refer to them - you chose us, and it is an honor. We've got an episode stuffed with content including clips from: My Best Break-Up, Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast, Broadway Baby, Mega, A Funny Feeling, and Fear Initiative. We've also got a rare triple Burst O' Durst from raging moderate Will Durst and selected reading from TrumPoetry.com. So much to listen to, so little…uh…well, really there's as much time as there is, isn't there? So let's crack on! CLIPS My Best Break-Up Sometimes, the best beginnings start with an ending. Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine bring you My Best Break-Up, hosted by the charming Maeve Higgins and featuring a different break-up story each week. Our clips features Hannah Gadsby, from a recent episode where she explains her deep unease with success, coupled with the invisibility she often felt as a queer, autistic woman. She's made a conscious decision to view the world in a new way - without a filter of shame. Broadway BabyJoin host Kimberly Schmidt and her husband Jay as they try to transform their friend Alex Fossella from casual theater goer to full-out fan boy. The clip we're featuring is from the show's pilot, where Kimberly and Jay explain Alex's first homework assignment: The cast album from Hair. Mega This soundcast is an improvised satire from the staff of a fictional mega church. Starring show creators Holly Laurent and Greg Hess as hosts Hallie and Gray, the clip we have is this past January and guest stars Edgar Blackmon (Alone Together, Popstar) as Edward Blackthorn who's talking sports, Game of Thrones, and falling in love. Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal PodcastEvery episode of GGACP, host, comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried, along with co-host and fellow pop culture fanatic Frank Santopadre, welcomes an astounding guest from the business of show. Our clip from a recent episode features guest Joel Grey, talking about being Joel Grey! A Funny FeelingHosted by comedians and paranormal enthusiasts Betsy Sodaro and Marcy Jarreau, A Funny Feeling, invites the hosts' comedian friends and celebrity guests to tell their true paranormal experiences and hear spooky stories submitted by listeners. A clip from Epi69, entitled NorCal Mysteries, features guest storyteller Jessica Jardine, discussing her Northern California upbringing with stories of serial killers and the Winchester Mystery House. Fear InitiativeA weekly horror role-playing game podcast, Fear Initiative features Game Master David Ian McKendry as he takes players Morgan Peter Brown, Cara Mandel, Jeff Seidman, Megan Duffy, Rob Schrab, Josh Forbes and Clarke Wolfe on a weekly horror inspired RPG adventure. Our clip is from the very first episode from August of last year, when the FI crew comes together seemingly by accident, meeting late one night at a tavern. Cracked on and gone: one more episode of Succotash. Thank you so much for listening to us. I hope you have been entertained...and maybe you've got another soundcast or two to seek out and listen to more episodes of that you hadn't previously been aware of…so then I can say that at the very least you've been informed in some way... specifically that there's a whole world of soundcasts out there in a world (that still mostly calls them podcasts as of this point in history.) What our show, this "Comedy Soundcast Soundcast" is doing, is saying: "Try this, you might like it in larger amounts" and then letting you decide. We also interview some of those people when they are willing and able. We here at Succotash are empathetic with those who create content and understand the time it takes to make it all happen. So, if you do enjoy our content, why not share it with others so that they also might have a few more choices presented to them in easily consumed and, presumably, digestible portions? (To keep the food metaphor going...) So again, thank you for listening and if you wouldn't mind taking a little time out to rate and review us on iTunes we'd be forever grateful because in addition to telling others about us, the iTunes rating is another form of "word of mouth" that might even land us a real sponsor someday... one can dream. Good night, and until next time won't you please, pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Thank Jason It’s Friday yet again! That’s right, we’ve rebooted Kill By Kill to coincide with the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th and brought along the effervescent Megan Duffy [Manic (2012) & Blumhouse’s Fear Initiative podcast) to help us tell the difference between baby oil and bug repellent and so much more! Along the way we debate why “typewriter font” is a bad choice for Jason, we debate the best “murder outfit” for Mrs. Voorhees, we add a little jazzy bass to make things sexier and fill out a DNR-slash-take my daughter the bone zone form. We also revisit previous Kill By Kill favorites like #CorpseJuice, Jason’s sex precognition and a roaring good Choose Your Own Death-venture! And that all happens before the Title Card appears!! Join us, won’t you? Never fear - new episodes of Kill By Kill are made available every other Friday! Have something to say? Reach out on Twitter @killbykillpod or email us: killbykillpod@gmail.com.
