Autos sind heute echte Computer. Eine Warnleuchte auf dem Armaturenbrett zeigt an, wenn ein Problem droht oder eine Wartung notwendig ist. Deine Seele macht es auch so. Und an dir ist es, die Signale zu beachten! Du solltest dir rechtzeitig Sorgen machen, und zwar bevor du eine geistige, moralische oder emotionale Panne hast. Deine Seele hat Durst, der gestillt werden will. Tust du das nicht, wird sie anderswo suchen, und zwar zu deinem Nachteil. Du musst wissen, wann es Zeit ist, „Stopp“ zu sagen. Man stoppt selten, um die Seele zu erneuern. Man hält es für unverantwortlich, sich eine Pause zu gönnen. Man fürchtet, an Boden zu verlieren, wenn man sich eine Minute für sich selbst gönnt. Das Schwierigste im Leben ist nicht der Erfolg, sondern das Finden des Gleichgewichts. In all deinen Projekten und Aktivitäten vergiss deine Seele nicht. Gott selbst hat sich ausgeruht (s. 1.Mo 2,2). Wenn er es getan hat, solltest du es auch tun. Die Kraft der Ruhe ermöglicht es dir, deinen Lebensweg ebenso zu schätzen wie dein Ziel. Sicher ist, solltest du die Entscheidung treffen, dich gar nicht mehr zu bewegen, dann landest du früher oder später sogar im Krankenhaus. Wenn Gott dich „auf grünen Auen weidet“, nimm dir die Zeit, es zu genießen. Führt er dich „zu stillen Wassern“, dann tut er es, um dich zu erfrischen und wiederherzustellen. Also: Kümmere dich um deine Seele!

Da ist es mir auch wichtig, dass meine guten Taten wahrgenommen werden. »Wenn du bei deiner Arbeit gut bist und keiner merkt es, dann hast du nichts davon!«, sagte einmal ein Kollege zu meinem Mann, »deshalb sieh zu, dass die anderen es auch mitkriegen!« Diese Haltung ist zutiefst menschlich.Doch Jesus Christus, der Sohn Gottes, war so anders! Als er auf dieser Erde lebte, tat er viel Gutes, ohne es an die große Glocke zu hängen. Bei seinem ersten Wunder rettete er einen Bräutigam aus dessen Verlegenheit, dass er den Durst seiner Gäste unterschätzt hatte und der Wein schon ausgegangen war, bevor die Feier überhaupt richtig in Gang kommen konnte. Jesus sorgte für qualitativen Nachschub – aber nur seine Mutter, seine Jünger und die Diener, die das Wasser in die Krüge gefüllt hatten, haben überhaupt etwas von seinem Wunder mitbekommen. Alle anderen feierten einfach fröhlich weiter. Jesus handelte oft im Verborgenen. Er musste nicht hilfsbereit wirken, denn Hilfsbereitschaft war Teil seines Wesens. Er musste nicht gut scheinen, denn er war gut. This number is even more alarming for juveniles, as 69% of those aged 12 to 15 who were falsely convicted had made a false confession. Research shows that jurors convict people who have confessed more than 70% of the time, even if the confession is proven false. Case 1: Robert Durst Robert Durst, heir to a New York real estate fortune, was suspected in three suspicious deaths: his wife Kathie Durst, his best friend Susan Berman, and his neighbor Morris Black. He became the subject of the HBO documentary series, The Jinx. In a stunning turn of events, a hot mic captured Durst muttering, "What the heck did I do? Killing them all, of course," which became an infamous confession. He was arrested the night before the finale of the series aired and was later convicted of first-degree murder for Susan Berman's death. Case 2: Henry Lee Lucas Known as the "Confession Killer," Henry Lee Lucas confessed to hundreds of murders he didn't commit. After being arrested for illegal firearm possession, he began confessing to dozens, and then hundreds, of unsolved murders across the country. Law enforcement created the "Lucas Task Force" and closed more than 200 cold cases based on his confessions. However, a journalist later exposed that Lucas couldn't have committed many of the crimes due to conflicting timelines. The false confessions misled families who were desperately seeking closure, and the real killers remained free. Case 3: Laverne Pavlinac Laverne Pavlinac fabricated a story and confessed to a murder she didn't commit to frame her abusive boyfriend, John. She hoped it would send him to prison and free her from their volatile relationship. Despite John denying any involvement, Laverne's detailed confession led to both of them being convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. While they were in jail, the real killer, Keith Hunter Jesperson, later known as the Happy Face Killer, continued his killing spree. Case 4: Earl Valentine After shooting his ex-wife Keisha and their son Earl Jr., Earl Valentine went live on Facebook to confess to the crime. He stated, "I just killed my wife. I don't feel any remorse for what I did". This real-time confession went viral before being removed, raising urgent questions about technology and domestic violence. Keisha survived, but their son Earl Jr. died from his injuries after calling 911. Case 5: Mark "Chopper" Read Mark "Chopper" Read was a notorious Australian gangster, author, and comedian who was never convicted of murder. However, just 16 days before his death from liver cancer, he gave a final interview and confessed to killing four men. Despite his history of exaggeration, police reviewed his claims. To this day, questions remain about the sincerity of his deathbed confession, with many believing it was his last act of showmanship.

It's a delightful cozy fantasy novel with sentient plants, a winged cat, and some subtle commentary on who has the right to learn and the importance of libraries in our communities. What makes a story -- and a world -- "cozy"? What are the conflicts, challenges, and obstacles like when, instead of taking the Ring to Mordor, you heroes are trying to keep a coffee shop afloat or open a pet shop? Sarah Beth Durst joins us to discuss not just what cozy fantasy is, but how its radical joy can be a powerful act of subversion when the real world tells us to be cynical or defeatist. We also explore how cozy fantasy expands what the fantasy genre gets to be when it refocuses the lens on different kinds of protagonists and places. Often, it centers and lifts up different kinds of protagonists, ordinary people rather than Chosen Ones. The world itself might be one where things are relatively calm -- or there could be a full-on Battle for the Powers of Good happening somewhere, just not in the story's imminent proximity. A smaller story can still be important, complex, and deeply satisfying. In October 2001, the dismembered remains of seventy-one-year-old Morris Black were found floating in Galveston Bay. A few days later, Black's neighbor, Robert Durst, was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on $250,000 bail. After posting bail, Durst jumped bail and disappeared for six weeks, before being arrested by Pennsylvania authorities at the end of November.In the years that followed, investigators and prosecutors began combing through Durst's life, discovering disturbing connections between the excentric millionaire and the mysterious disappearances and deaths of several people who were once close to Durst.
