Photographer and educator Eli Durst joins PhotoWork with Sasha Wolf to discuss his photobooks, artistic practice, and the evolving definition of documentary photography. Durst reflects on what it means to push and rethink documentary work today, from image-making to long-term engagement with subjects and place. Drawing on his experience working with Joel Meyerowitz, Durst also shares how he learned to build a sustainable life as an artist, balancing creative work with family. He discusses the role of mentorship, ongoing learning, and how collaboration with publishers and editors can reshape a project through new perspectives on sequencing and editing. The conversation also explores the importance of community in documentary practice, and how embedding within a community is often central to the work, sometimes even more than the act of photographing itself. https://www.elidurst.com https://www.instagram.com/durzt Eli Durst is an American artist whose work explores the social forces and group dynamics that shape the suburban American experience. Durst's photographs have been exhibited internationally and have been featured in Aperture, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Vogue, and The Atlantic among others. She used to want it. Now she doesn't. And you're not sure if it's you, the kids, the stress — or something that's quietly shifted inside her.A lot of the time, it's her hormones. Specifically, perimenopause or menopause. Here's what most people don't know: perimenopause doesn't start at 45 years old. Dr. Debra Durst — an MD who left traditional medicine to specialize in hormone optimization and sexual wellness — is seeing it in women in their 30s, and sometimes even their 20s.And the first hormones to drop aren't estrogen -- they're progesterone and testosterone. Which means your partner may be dealing with sleep disruption, anxiety, a shorter fuse, brain fog, low libido, and body composition changes — while her doctor keeps saying her labs look "normal."Here, Dr. Durst breaks down what perimenopause actually is (it can last a decade or more), why most gynecologists aren't trained to address it, and what comprehensive hormone optimization actually looks like. We get into why testosterone is, surprisingly, the most abundant hormone circulating in a woman's body — and what happens to a couple's sex life when it's properly restored (hint: sometimes you're back to doing it twice a day!).Plus, we talk about solutions to dryness. There are now cutting-edge tissue regeneration treatments — laser rejuvenation and PRP O-Shots — that can bring arousal, sensitivity, and orgasmic strength back after menopause causes physical changes. And we talk about why Dr. Durst's office coined the phrase "no man left behind" — because when a woman gets optimized, her husband sometimes can't keep up. ;)If your partner has gone quiet in the bedroom and you don't know why — or she's been told everything looks fine but something clearly isn't — this one's for you. And if she's listening: this one's for you, too.—Work with usReady to go deeper than the podcast and take action?

Reid Carter concludes the Robert Durst saga with the murder that should have ended everything - and the confession that finally did. September 2001: Durst killed his 71-year-old neighbor Morris Black, dismembered his body with surgical precision, and dumped the pieces in Galveston Bay. Acquitted after claiming self-defense. 2015: HBO's The Jinx caught Durst on a hot mic whispering "killed them all, of course." Arrested the night before the finale aired. September 2021: Finally convicted of murdering Susan Berman. Sentenced to life. January 2022: Dead at 78, taking Kathie's location to his grave.Unlock an ad-free podcast experience with Caloroga Shark Media! Get all our shows on any player you love, hassle free! Reid Carter exposes how real estate heir Robert Durst evaded justice for four decades while bodies piled up around him. January 31, 1982: His wife Kathie disappeared three months before graduating medical school - she told friends "if anything happens to me, don't let Bob get away with it." Durst claimed he dropped her at a train station. Never seen again. Police never searched their cottage. Someone called her school the next day pretending to be Kathie - investigators believe it was Susan Berman, who would become Durst's second victim eighteen years later. The billion-dollar heir's bloody trail begins here.Unlock an ad-free podcast experience with Caloroga Shark Media! Get all our shows on any player you love, hassle free! True Crime Today examines the twisted logic behind Nick Reiner's reported belief that he's the victim of a conspiracy. Sources told TMZ that Nick admits to killing his parents Rob and Michele Reiner—but allegedly doesn't understand why he's incarcerated. He reportedly believes the people who put him behind bars are conspiring against him.Tony Brueski argues that Nick is actually correct. There has been a conspiracy. For 32 years. The conspiracy was every system that protected Nick from consequences. More than 18 rehab stays where he'd get clean just long enough to leave and use again. Doctors who changed his schizoaffective disorder medication because he complained about weight gain. Treatment facilities that took the Reiners' money and released him after 30 days—long enough to detox, not long enough to treat the underlying illness. A family that had "grown used to" behavior that alarmed everyone else. The conspiracy was FOR Nick Reiner, not against him. And it worked beautifully until December 14th, when he allegedly killed the only two people willing to keep it running. Now the conspiracy has flipped. Alan Jackson walked away. The family isn't funding the defense. Prosecutor Habib Balian—who handled Menendez and Durst—is on the case. For the first time in Nick's life, the system is working against him instead of for him.To someone who's never faced real accountability, that probably does feel like persecution. But that's not conspiracy. That's justice. And the only question now is whether it finally sticks.#NickReiner #RobReiner #TrueCrimeToday #Conspiracy #Murder #InsanityDefense #Justice #TrueCrime #Accountability #MentalHealthJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISDOES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? We're going LIVE with retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer for a deep dive into two of the biggest cases in true crime right now. The Brendan Banfield murder trial is underway in Fairfax County — and TMZ just dropped explosive new details about Nick Reiner claiming he's the victim of a conspiracy.Coffindaffer is breaking down both cases and taking your questions in real time.On Banfield: The prosecution's digital forensics expert contradicted their catfishing theory and was transferred out of the unit. The lead detective who pushed back was reassigned. The original prosecutor was removed. Now the entire case rests on Juliana Peres Magalhaes — an au pair who changed her story after a year in jail and wrote from her cell that she was "heartbroken" for what she was doing to Brendan. Her freedom depends on his conviction. On Reiner: Sources say Nick admits killing Rob and Michele Reiner but doesn't understand why he's incarcerated. His schizoaffective medication was changed a month before the murders. The weapon is missing. The autopsy is sealed. He checked into a Santa Monica hotel after the alleged killings. Prosecutor Habib Balian — Menendez and Durst — is leading the case. Legal experts say no trial for at least two years.Coffindaffer has spent her FBI career evaluating witness credibility and insanity claims. True Crime Today covers the latest bombshell developments in the Nick Reiner case. Sources tell TMZ that Nick reportedly admits to killing Rob and Michele Reiner—but doesn't understand why he's in jail. He allegedly believes the people who incarcerated him are engaged in a conspiracy against him.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins us to analyze what this means for the investigation and the inevitable insanity defense. Nick's medication for schizoaffective disorder was reportedly changed about a month before the murders because he complained of weight gain. According to the TMZ documentary, his meds still aren't stabilized and jail doctors are still trying to figure it out.The Reiner family reportedly spent a fortune on dual-diagnosis treatment facilities over the years. But Nick would only stay 30 days—long enough to get clean off drugs but not long enough to address the underlying mental illness. Dr. Drew Pinsky called 30 days "almost meaningless" for someone with Nick's history and suggested he needed permanent custodial care.Other key developments: The murder weapon has not been found. LAPD sealed the autopsy reports on Christmas Eve. Nick checked into a Santa Monica hotel after the alleged killings before being found wandering near USC the next night. And the prosecutor assigned to the case is Habib Balian—who handled Menendez and Durst.Coffindaffer explains how investigators evaluate insanity claims, what Nick's behavior reveals, and why this case may take years to resolve.#NickReiner #RobReiner #TrueCrimeToday #FBI #Murder #InsanityDefense #Schizoaffective #JenniferCoffindaffer #TrueCrime #InvestigationJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISDOES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? This number is even more alarming for juveniles, as 69% of those aged 12 to 15 who were falsely convicted had made a false confession. Research shows that jurors convict people who have confessed more than 70% of the time, even if the confession is proven false. Case 1: Robert Durst Robert Durst, heir to a New York real estate fortune, was suspected in three suspicious deaths: his wife Kathie Durst, his best friend Susan Berman, and his neighbor Morris Black. He became the subject of the HBO documentary series, The Jinx. In a stunning turn of events, a hot mic captured Durst muttering, "What the heck did I do? Killing them all, of course," which became an infamous confession. He was arrested the night before the finale of the series aired and was later convicted of first-degree murder for Susan Berman's death. Case 2: Henry Lee Lucas Known as the "Confession Killer," Henry Lee Lucas confessed to hundreds of murders he didn't commit. After being arrested for illegal firearm possession, he began confessing to dozens, and then hundreds, of unsolved murders across the country. Law enforcement created the "Lucas Task Force" and closed more than 200 cold cases based on his confessions. However, a journalist later exposed that Lucas couldn't have committed many of the crimes due to conflicting timelines. The false confessions misled families who were desperately seeking closure, and the real killers remained free. Case 3: Laverne Pavlinac Laverne Pavlinac fabricated a story and confessed to a murder she didn't commit to frame her abusive boyfriend, John. She hoped it would send him to prison and free her from their volatile relationship. Despite John denying any involvement, Laverne's detailed confession led to both of them being convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. While they were in jail, the real killer, Keith Hunter Jesperson, later known as the Happy Face Killer, continued his killing spree. Case 4: Earl Valentine After shooting his ex-wife Keisha and their son Earl Jr., Earl Valentine went live on Facebook to confess to the crime. He stated, "I just killed my wife. I don't feel any remorse for what I did". This real-time confession went viral before being removed, raising urgent questions about technology and domestic violence. Keisha survived, but their son Earl Jr. died from his injuries after calling 911. Case 5: Mark "Chopper" Read Mark "Chopper" Read was a notorious Australian gangster, author, and comedian who was never convicted of murder. However, just 16 days before his death from liver cancer, he gave a final interview and confessed to killing four men. Despite his history of exaggeration, police reviewed his claims. To this day, questions remain about the sincerity of his deathbed confession, with many believing it was his last act of showmanship.
