Welcome to the eighth episode of The Movies And Me, a podcast project of ours where in each of these episodes we sit down with a filmmaker, writer, someone who works in the film industry or just someone who is a big cinephile who just lives for movies. We talk about their creative projects and also discuss their four favourite films that have inspired them to go out and have a career in film. Or four films that have least inspired them to seek out the career they have today. On this episode, we welcome back Anders's old Met Film School friend Callum Burn to the podcast. On the first episode of The Movies And Me series, we talked with Callum about his film Battle Over Britain, a Second World War film. Now, Callum is here to talk about his new film: Landship set during the First World War. The film is having it's premiere at the Raindance Film Festival on the 20th June and it will be released in select cinemas on June 26th. Following that, it will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and several streaming services to the territories the film has already been sold to. Produced through his production company Tin Hat Productions, Landship is set during the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917. Brief synopsis from their website: "At the spear head of a British offensive, the nine-man crew of Battle Tank F41 'Fray Bentos' become bogged down in a shell crater in no-man's-land, just yards from the German front line. Over the course of sixty gruelling hours, Officer Commanding, Captain Donald Richardson, struggles to maintain discipline, as he and his crew come under repeated attack from an insidious enemy that appear from nowhere out of the dense smog that hangs across the battlefield." Along with discussing the project, we discuss with Callum the kinds of films that inspired and helped shape the project. We enjoyed this chat with Callum and we look forward to seeing the film. And hope you do as well!Follow Callum and Tin Hat Productions on their Instagram page. Plus their channel on YouTube. Be sure to check out our Monument Valley Film on our YouTube Channel.Anders's screenwriter work can also be seen at work in the horror, car chase thriller Delivery Run, co-written with & directed by Joey Palmroos. Welcome to the twelfth episode of our ongoing series: Fascism On Film. Each episode of this series, the Holmes Brothers look and review a film that has to do with fascism. During the episodes, the brothers look and see how the aspects and portrayal of fascism shown in the film relate to current and/or past events. On this Fascism on Film episode, the Holmes Brothers look at and discuss the political thriller The Manchurian Candidate, directed by John Frankenheimer and released in 1962 during the height of The Cuban Missile Crisis. This is the second John Frankenheimer film we have talked about in this series. The other film was Seven Days In May. The Manchurian Candidate stars Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, Janet Leigh and Angela Lansbury. Laurence Harvey plays Raymond Shaw, a Korean War veteran who returns to America after receiving the Medal of Honour. During the war, him and his commanding officer Captain Bennett 'Ben' Marco (Sinatra) plus the rest of their platoon are captured by Soviet and Chinese soldiers. They were brainwashed and Shaw has been turned into a sleeper agent as part of a plot to overthrow the US government. Plagued by nightmares, Marco tries to uncover the plot before it is too late. Shaw's mother, Eleanor Iselin (Lansbury), is married to John Iselin. A senator whose career Eleanor is trying to manage. Returning guest Don Campbell joins us as we meet Charles Lee Ray in episode 156, tackling Tom Holland's 1988 classic Child's Play as the second entry in the "It's Voodoo Baby" triple feature. We break down all eight of Chucky's major reveals, from the voodoo soul transfer that opens the film to the battery scene confrontation between Karen Barclay and the Good Guy doll, to the fiery finale in the apartment. Along the way we explore Don Mancini's original "Blood Buddy" script, the Cabbage Patch doll craze that inspired the film, the raised soundstage set and practical puppet work that brought Chucky to life, and why Catherine Hicks' performance makes Child's Play as much a story about a struggling single mother as it is a slasher. The episode closes with our favorite reveals ranking, real monsters, and a round of "would you survive Chucky?" Next up: Wes Craven's The Serpent and the Rainbow closes out the triple feature. In this episode of ClassHorrorCast, I'm joined by Steve Barton! One of the true pioneers of modern online horror media and co-founder of Dread Central. We dive deep into Steve's early beginnings as a horror fan, his days posting on the legendary Fangoria message boards, and the completely random encounter with Tony Timpone that ultimately changed the course of his life forever. From there, Steve takes us through the creation of Dread Central and the challenges, sacrifices, and triumphs that came with building one of the most important horror outlets in internet history during a time when online horror journalism was still the wild west.Throughout the conversation, Steve reflects on the relationships he built with legendary figures including George A. Romero and Sid Haig, sharing incredible stories from decades spent inside the horror industry and convention scene. We also discuss Steve's pivotal involvement in the rise of Terrifier and the Art the Clown phenomenon, his role in helping bring attention to the franchise, and the difficult fallout that eventually led to his firing from the production. It's an honest and deeply personal discussion about passion, loyalty, success, disappointment, and the realities of working within the entertainment industry. The episode also explores Steve's raw and emotional autobiography, which serves as a brutally honest reflection on following a dream, navigating personal struggles, and dedicating your life to horror culture. We wrap things up by discussing his current projects, consulting work, writing, and what the future holds next. This is a fascinating conversation with somebody who helped shape modern horror fandom in the age of the internet and a must-listen for horror fans, filmmakers, collectors, and anyone who grew up living on horror message boards and websites during the early online era.For more of my content - CLICK HEREBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast-horror-movie-podcast--4295531/support.

On this Fascism on Film episode, the Holmes Brothers look at and discuss the historical drama from Italian director Gillo Pontecorvo: Burn!. The film stars Marlon Brando, Renato Salvatori and Evaristo Márquez. Brando stars as a British agent provocateur called Sir William Walker who is sent to the island of Queimada, an island in the Lesser Antilles and a Portuguese colony. He is asked to overthrow the island through a slave revolt in order for the British sugar trade to profit from. Walker meets and befriends José Dolores who becomes a leader of the slave rebellion. Things turn complicated when Dolores leads a revolt against the new rulers. Brando said he did the best acting of his career on the film Burn! despite how difficult it was to make. Even though they quarrelled on set, Evaristo Márquez had to act as mediator between them, Brando said Pontecorvo was one of the three best directors he ever worked with. The other two were Elia Kazan and Bernardo Bertolucci. We hope you enjoy this episode and stay tuned for more episodes of this Fascism On Film series.Be sure to check out our Monument Valley Film on our YouTube Channel.Anders's screenwriter work can also be seen at work in the horror, car chase thriller Delivery Run, co-written with & directed by Joey Palmroos. The concept of the movie double feature originated in the 1930s, and now, when you see a good pairing, it's tough not to carve out four hours for a gluttonous moviegoing soiree. But what makes a good double feature? What is the thought process for ensuring one film fits seamlessly with the next? Tonight, the AHH Crew sets out to get some answers, as they play a little game revolving around setting up the perfect double feature. Ever played Cards Against Humanity? Yeah, it's kinda like that. But first: TALES FROM THE CRYPT heads to Shudder this Friday, and the unshakable dread of the short film DEAD GRANDMA.
