This year has been full of reflection and new changes for me. With the lockdown, I've had more time to truly reflect upon the work I've been doing and the business I've been building. More importantly, the legacy I am leaving behind. That has led to me being super-clear on what I really want to do as an entrepreneur, including who I want to help and the kind of impact that I’m here to make. I've always known that the marketing strategies and tactics were just one part of being a successful online entrepreneur, but I've been actively learning new things about mindset and health that has helped me become a better entrepreneur. This is why I am introducing The MindFuel Entrepreneur. This is Entrepreneurship, Evolved. I want to show you how to truly achieve your fullest potential and business success, because being a successful entrepreneur takes more than just hustling and the right strategies. I am on a mission to empower as many online entrepreneurs as possible with a holistic approach to entrepreneurship by focusing on the physical, mental, and business well-being - leading to a global movement of what I call the "Mindful Hustle". And to do this, I’ve decided to change the name of this podcast. Hack Your Online Business is officially going away in order to make way for something with a more holistic philosophy to entrepreneurship. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. If you’ve gotten value from this podcast, I’d really appreciate you subscribing and leaving an honest rating and review.
This is a short episode, but I want to share something that has been happening in my online business as well as in the online businesses of some of the entrepreneurs I work with. I want to talk about feeling confused, lost and disconnected with your online business right now, and what you can do about it. The reason why I want to share this is because you hardly ever hear entrepreneurs talk about any moments other than moments of success. And we all know from running businesses that it is impossible to have no down moments. So I’m sharing this in case you are going through the same exact feeling and moment in your business and you’re looking for a solution or just to feel like you’re not alone in this. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been silently going through a feeling of disconnect with my online business. For the past couple of years, I’ve been really focused on growing Chrys Media - which is the business that offers done-for-you marketing services. At the same time, I’ve been building this brand, Hack Your Online Business, because I wanted to have a separate platform where I could reach a wider audience and talk about stuff that’s more than just marketing strategies and tactics. And in the last couple of months, it dawned upon me that I don’t just want to be on this Earth to offer marketing services. There’s nothing wrong with offering marketing services or running an agency. I just don’t want it to be all that I do for the rest of my life. That led me to feeling a sense of disconnect with Chrys Media and I started to feel lost as to what my online businesses should be. I started to ask myself several deep questions that if you are going through what I’ve been going through, definitely ask yourselves these questions: “What is the big vision and purpose that you want to achieve in this life?” “What would truly make you happy?” And as I thought about those questions, I realised that my big vision and big calling and the thing that makes me the happiest is coaching other online entrepreneurs. I like the fact that Chrys Media does the agency work because that puts me in touch with what’s working in marketing. But when I get to work with clients behind the scenes and we plan out their strategies and I see them execute it and their online businesses grow, that’s what makes me the happiest. And so a couple of days ago, I had a video call with several entrepreneur friends of mine. We used to be a part of the same mastermind and we just kept up the monthly calls. And in that call, I shared about what has been going on internally with me and business, and I was so surprised to hear that almost all of them were going through the same confusion and disconnection with their businesses. One of my entrepreneur friends went through 6 weeks or so of feeling completely lost, exhausted and lacking enthusiasm for anything but Netflix. She spent weeks literally sleeping, eating, doing the bare minimum in her business and spending time doing things that didn't involve her business. It is important when you’re going through moments of confusion or disconnect with your business, to not panic or feel the pressure to always be at 100%. Take a minute to relax, find yourself, center yourself again - then ask yourselves the questions I mentioned earlier: “What is the big vision and purpose that you want to achieve in this life?” “What would truly make you happy?” If you tuned into the last episode with business coach Nick Cavuoto, then you would have also heard him talk about how he went through moments of disconnect with his business and how asking those two questions gave him inspiration again and eventually changed his business model. So besides asking those two questions that I mentioned, if you are going through a moment of disconnect and confusion with your online business right now, these are a few more pieces of advice that I have for you. The first advice is not to be in isolation. Entrepreneurship is often a solo endeavor, and as online entrepreneurs, that’s often amplified. All the alone time spent building your business can isolate you from the rest of the world. And even if we have loved ones or friends around us, unless they too are entrepreneurs, most people cannot relate to our situation and they probably cannot help you at times when you need help most. But while you might feel alone, you never are. There are many online business owners out there, and it is important to find other online entrepreneurs to connect with and interact with. Things like joining a mastermind or a membership group for online entrepreneurs could be very beneficial for you and help you work through your disconnect and confusion around your business. I know that because my peers have been the ones who are always helping me bounce ideas off them and work through problems with them. Another advice that I can give you is work on your emotional and mental health. I work with an EFT coach and by doing simple EFT tapping, it helps to clear my mind and energy and I have found it to be so useful whenever I have moments of confusion or disconnect with my business, or even when I have self doubts or when scarcity creeps up, I turn to EFT tapping or journaling. So I hope you find this episode very useful, if you’ve been lost, confused or disconnected with your online business. Yesterday I launched Social Media Online Summit 2020 and I wanted to do an episode about the lessons that I learned launching this online conference. We hit a 5 figure launch which was absolutely great for a launch that was launched using purely organic marketing and took a month worth of work, but it was still 30% less than what I wanted. The thing that I’m happiest about this launch was not so much the revenue that we earned, but the fact that we had more attendees signing up for the online conference. Here are the 5 lessons I learned from my 5 figure launch. If you’re looking for a support system for more than just your launches, I want to let you know about my brand new Hack Your Online Business mastermind for online business owners that is now open for applications. Welcome to the 15th muse on the Introvert Biz Growth podcast, the show where I talk to introverts who grow their business and make a difference. I’m Sarah Santacroce, your host. It’s time for another muse episode, unedited, raw content. No intro music. No bells and whistles. I share these muses to make you think, to inspire you, to break the rules and to invite you to be part of the Gentle Business Revolution. I know I missed a week, but I’m back! I want to talk about ‘Taking things slow’. I was on a podcast interview yesterday called ‘Hack Your Online Business’. Chrys, the host was lovely but I could tell she was a bit surprised by my approach of slowing down the sale but just went with me intuition that it was ok to share my way. I was mainly talking about relationship building on LinkedIn, explaining that there really are no short cuts and that it takes time to get someone’s trust. But today I want to talk about taking things slow from the perspective of business building, not lead generation. As you know I’m launching another beta round of my new AFM program starting Monday, May 6th. After January’s program ended I felt like I wasn’t done learning this new approach. I needed to do it again. So I went into promo mode to announce the 2nd round. It felt good to promote it and I was happy with the response to my One Page Marketing Plan workshop. I had over 70 people sign up. The workshop was free and people told me they got a ton of value out of it. So much value that I didn’t even get one sale. First I was devastated. Remember the episode about rejection. Yes, I felt like packing it up, no one was interested in yet another marketing program! I was done being vulnerable, doing things differently, getting on a Zoom workshop where people were too shy to take themselves off mute to talk to me. It took me quite honestly a few days to get out of that funk. And then I reminded myself that this is my life’s work, and that I have time. And that it takes time to bring forth change. And that it was normal that after just 1 workshop people were not ready to commit to a 500 dollar program. And I went back to doing. Coming up with a plan to send out some more videos and emails, personalized emails to specific people I’d like to have on this 2nd beta round. And thinking about the big picture as well. If I want this to go big because I think I can have a small impact on how we do marketing online, then I need to think about how to increase awareness. So I’ll be hosting 1 free workshop on a specific topic each month, with nothing immediate to sell, but to tell people that I’ll be officially launching AFM in September. And maybe they won’t be ready then either, and that’s ok, but it will feel less like I’m giving the workshops in an energy of ‘emergency’. I’m sharing this to show that it’s not easy to take things slow. Because our society rewards immediate gains. And if we don’t get those we feel like we failed. But going forward I know that the only way to build a sustainable business is by taking things slow. Slowing down the process when launching a new program. Taking the time to invest in relationships. Talking to people without the intention to sell them anything immediate. This is what I’m thinking about these days as I’m preparing for the 2nd beta round of AFM. There’s still time to join us. We’re a group of 9 heart-centered entrepreneurs from all over the world (literally: Bosnia, US, Cambodia, England, Malaysia and Spain). We start next Monday, May 6th and you can find out all the details and sign up information at www.anxietyfreemarketing.com And if you’re listening to this podcast after May 6th you can still visit www.anxietyfreemarketing.com because I will turn this into an online program with video content that gives you access to attend one of the live courses in either January or September. So visit anxietyfreemarketing.com now or send me an email to sarah@sarahsantacroce.com for more info. Thanks for listening.
