This is a short episode, but I want to share something that has been happening in my online business as well as in the online businesses of some of the entrepreneurs I work with. I want to talk about feeling confused, lost and disconnected with your online business right now, and what you can do about it. The reason why I want to share this is because you hardly ever hear entrepreneurs talk about any moments other than moments of success. And we all know from running businesses that it is impossible to have no down moments. So I’m sharing this in case you are going through the same exact feeling and moment in your business and you’re looking for a solution or just to feel like you’re not alone in this. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been silently going through a feeling of disconnect with my online business. For the past couple of years, I’ve been really focused on growing Chrys Media - which is the business that offers done-for-you marketing services. At the same time, I’ve been building this brand, Hack Your Online Business, because I wanted to have a separate platform where I could reach a wider audience and talk about stuff that’s more than just marketing strategies and tactics. And in the last couple of months, it dawned upon me that I don’t just want to be on this Earth to offer marketing services. There’s nothing wrong with offering marketing services or running an agency. I just don’t want it to be all that I do for the rest of my life. That led me to feeling a sense of disconnect with Chrys Media and I started to feel lost as to what my online businesses should be. I started to ask myself several deep questions that if you are going through what I’ve been going through, definitely ask yourselves these questions: “What is the big vision and purpose that you want to achieve in this life?” “What would truly make you happy?” And as I thought about those questions, I realised that my big vision and big calling and the thing that makes me the happiest is coaching other online entrepreneurs. I like the fact that Chrys Media does the agency work because that puts me in touch with what’s working in marketing. But when I get to work with clients behind the scenes and we plan out their strategies and I see them execute it and their online businesses grow, that’s what makes me the happiest. And so a couple of days ago, I had a video call with several entrepreneur friends of mine. We used to be a part of the same mastermind and we just kept up the monthly calls. And in that call, I shared about what has been going on internally with me and business, and I was so surprised to hear that almost all of them were going through the same confusion and disconnection with their businesses. One of my entrepreneur friends went through 6 weeks or so of feeling completely lost, exhausted and lacking enthusiasm for anything but Netflix. She spent weeks literally sleeping, eating, doing the bare minimum in her business and spending time doing things that didn't involve her business. It is important when you’re going through moments of confusion or disconnect with your business, to not panic or feel the pressure to always be at 100%. Take a minute to relax, find yourself, center yourself again - then ask yourselves the questions I mentioned earlier: “What is the big vision and purpose that you want to achieve in this life?” “What would truly make you happy?” If you tuned into the last episode with business coach Nick Cavuoto, then you would have also heard him talk about how he went through moments of disconnect with his business and how asking those two questions gave him inspiration again and eventually changed his business model. So besides asking those two questions that I mentioned, if you are going through a moment of disconnect and confusion with your online business right now, these are a few more pieces of advice that I have for you. The first advice is not to be in isolation. Entrepreneurship is often a solo endeavor, and as online entrepreneurs, that’s often amplified. All the alone time spent building your business can isolate you from the rest of the world. And even if we have loved ones or friends around us, unless they too are entrepreneurs, most people cannot relate to our situation and they probably cannot help you at times when you need help most. But while you might feel alone, you never are. There are many online business owners out there, and it is important to find other online entrepreneurs to connect with and interact with. Things like joining a mastermind or a membership group for online entrepreneurs could be very beneficial for you and help you work through your disconnect and confusion around your business. I know that because my peers have been the ones who are always helping me bounce ideas off them and work through problems with them. Another advice that I can give you is work on your emotional and mental health. I work with an EFT coach and by doing simple EFT tapping, it helps to clear my mind and energy and I have found it to be so useful whenever I have moments of confusion or disconnect with my business, or even when I have self doubts or when scarcity creeps up, I turn to EFT tapping or journaling. So I hope you find this episode very useful, if you’ve been lost, confused or disconnected with your online business. Don’t forget to subscribe to this podcast so that you don’t miss my weekly Monday and Thursday episodes. Lastly, go connect with me on Instagram. I’ll love to get to know you and your online business. You can find me on Instagram at @hackyouronlinebusiness, send me a DM and tell me you listened to this episode.
