My return to mountain bike racing after having kids has been so much fun! It's also had its fair share of challenges. I sat down with my husband, Matt to talk about what it's been like going from 1 to 2 children, traveling and racing with 2 small children, and the lessons we have learned along the way. We talked about expectations, how pre-race routines and rituals are now different (and messy), and what we are learning to make traveling with kids a little bit easier. We also recapped my High Cascades 100 race (my first race back after kids) as well as the Emerald Mountain Epic. And now? I'm prepping for Breck Epic. It'll be my third time racing it although it's been 9 years since my last Breck Epic experience (and win!).

In road triathlons, she found immediate success and in my first race qualified for the ITU Long Course World Championships as a member of Team USA. Due to Due to expenses she was unable to race at the second ITU World Championships she qualified for in 2010. After second place finishes at the 2009 and 2010 Halfmax 70.3 National Championship races, she endeavored to race my first Ironman triathlon. I attained that goal in 2011 at Ironman Coeur D’Alene. After IMCDA, my husband and I moved to Salt Lake City, UT. In 2012 I found myself injured with a stress fracture in my femoral neck. Recurrent injuries kept me from significant amounts of racing until 2014 when I felt ready to begin again. Since that time I have participated in XTerra with some success and have found that my favorite racing disciplines are mountain biking, fat biking, and trail running. I won my first national championships in fat biking in 2016. Other highlights for 2016 include a second place age group finish at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships and an age group win at the Park City Point 2 Point (Park City, UT). In 2017 I won the Pro/Open Fat Bike National Championships and upgraded to pro on the mountain bike. In 2017/18 I intend to race the High Cascades 100 and the Park City Point 2 Point as well as local and regional races on the snow and dirt.
