Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this early December holiday season edition of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, and have I got clips for you!  (As I'm typing this I'm noticing that "have I got clips for you" feels like a question but if I were to put a question mark at the end of that sentence it feels…well, just wrong. I understand it's a rhetorical question but I never really stopped to think about what it looks like on paper or, in this case, a computer monitor…) Have I got clips for you? Of course I do — this is a clips addition of Succotash. It would be misleading and, frankly, weird if I didn't.  I've got clips from: Maltin on Movies, Christal Clear The Podcast, Master Manual, High Content Pod, Unstructured, Shenk, and Weird Adults with Little Esther. We've also got a double dose of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst segment. Plus a reading from the website of our still-fairly-new sponsor TrumPoetry.com. Ready?  Let's go!  CLIPS  Master ManualHarmontown's "Dungeon Master to the Stars" Spencer Crittenden and game designer Cohen Edenfield discuss the finer points of leading a role-playing session in this surprisingly accessible advice show. Our clip is from the inaugural episode of Master Manual. In the episode, Spencer and Cohen answer questions and riff up a fresh new take on vampires, while the clip is from a segment called "Alternate Monster Lore". Maltin on Movies This soundcast should perhaps be entitled Maltins On Movies, as legendary film critic Leonard Maltin AND his daughter Jessie are the ultimate movie fans. They love talking about movies, especially with people who share their enthusiasm. In the epi released on November 2nd this year, their guest was comedian Dennis Miller, who is a diehard film buff. In the snippet we feature, Dennis recounts a past encounter with Leonard Maltin seasoned with references, and a discussion of The McCarthy Era of Hollywood History, as well as the beginning of a discussion about character actors. Unstructured Unstructured is a chat with people who are changing the world around them, through teaching, creating, or just living as an example. And when meeting folks, we can learn from each other, be inspired, and maybe even make a new friend, together. OUr clip is from Epi84 of the show, which dropped on October 25th of this year and featured Susan Bennett, who furnished the original voice of Siri, Apple's voice UI. She describes the recording process that when into creating Siri's voice.  ShenkComedian Sara Weinshenk interviews comedians, musicians & artists living in LA. Topics include food, fashion, cannabis & comedy. The clip we're featuring comes from the episode entitled, "Mango Juul Pods, Snail Essence & Feet Pics W/ Comedian Brandon Wardell", from this past November. Sara and Brandon yack about fashion and speculate on life as a gamer. Weird Adults with Little Esther"Little Esther" Povitsky finds out what makes her fellow comedian friends both weird and adult with an irreplaceable quirk and charm not found anywhere else. This show seems to have largely gone away but it popped back on the radar last March following a live edition performed as part of the San Francisco Sketchfest. Esther was joined by Nick Wiger of Doughboys soundcast fame where they mostly talked about food. In the clip, the host mentions she has jaw pain and that leads to a conversation about strange interactions with a few medical professionals. Christal Clear The PodcastSeeking clarity in life, to make the most of my life. "Christal Clear" is my affirmation. Our clip comes from the "Be My Guest" episode from last October, where host Christal discusses the adjustments one makes when one receives feedback on their shows and guest Jae (who has been running the Pod Dealer Network for almost a year as of this recording) explores the anxieties of being the sole host of a show. High Content Hosted by Iraj Lopez and Joe Buratti, High Content had its first live episode last month at the Savage Henry Comedy Club in Eureka, California. After local comedians Jessica Grant and Nando Molina gave interviews the hosts of HiC unexpectedly invited me up on stage for a segment. Here is a bit that I clipped off for you from the "Would You Rather" portion of the interview. And there you have it... or rather here you had it... "it" being another "Succotash The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast" clips edition... ...that is still underway now that I think about it so (ahem) here you are having it, another edition of "Succotash The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast".  Thank you for listening, thank you for retweeting us when you see our links ,and thank you for visiting www.succotashshow.com, clicking the Amazon banner right near the top of the page, and shopping as you normally would because when you do that, Amazon cuts us a small portion of that which goes to our server costs. (If you haven't done that before It's perfectly fine because we love you anyway…)  If you are listening…we also love those who don't listen as long as they are also reasonably good people…and by "We" I mean "Me". I need to clarify that because I don't wish to speak on behalf of other people when it pertains to love. It's not a healthy habit to get into…and as an expectant father I need to maintain my health in as many areas as I can.  So anyway, thank you for listening and if you like us a little you might tell your friends about us...which is one of the best ways of helping us out, and what we mean when we gently urge you to (Please) Pass the Succotash… — Tyson Saner

Saluton! It is I, Tyson Saner, your Audio-Tour-Guide or something like that.  Come with me, won't you, as we explore assorted points of interest in Soundcastland for the next hour or so. Friend-of-Succotash Hunter Block sports his new tee I've got some good ones for you.  There are clips from Launch Left, Raised By TV, Whiting Wongs, Doughboys, Wife of The Party and The Movie Court,  In addition we have a single shot of Raging Moderate Will Durst's "Burst O' Durst" (and if you're in San Francisco in the coming weeks, check out http://themarsh.org for tickets and information on his live show The Durst Case Scenario.) This installment is brought to you by Henderson's Breakaway Trousers, and I thorw in a couple of shout-outs for good measure. CLIPS LAUNCH LEFTThis show kicked off their first episode on Halloween, October 31st, of last year. According to the description on the Launch Left webpage: "Rain Joan of Arc Phoenix and Moon Unit Zappa interview extraordinary minds, mavericks, and pioneers in their unique fields. As two women from artistically uncompromising families, Rain and Moon celebrate non-conformists who achieve success by doing it their way, and support "left of center" emerging artists." That is to say...the show features established musicians promoting or "curating" less mainstream musicians.  Their guests are referred to as  "curators" and in this clip from December 26th of 2017 the curator is none other than Moon Zappa's brother Dweezil Zappa, who gives a humorous lesson in tri-tones... RAISED BY TVAmong my favorite improvisors that I hear on soundcasts such as Scott Aukerman's Comedy Bang Bang and Matt Besser's Improv4humans are Lauren Lapkus and Jon Gabrus. They have a soundcast together called Raised By TV which is described on their homesite thusly: "When Jon Gabrus and Lauren Lapkus were growing up, they watched a lot of TV. Like, a LOT of TV. Now adults with minds hopelessly warped by television, they've come together to indulge their shared obsession. On Raised By TV, Jon and Lauren revisit the best and worst TV of the late 80s and early 90s — everything from game shows and TGIF to Oprah and cereal commercials." They recently announced that Season Two of Raised By TV kicks off this April 11th. WHITING WONGSWhiting Wongs is described on iTunes as "An honest conversation about race and writing between two people who think very highly of themselves. Dan Harmon and Jessica Gao know they won't solve racism in Hollywood, but they still like to talk about it. Sometimes with guests!" By IMDB, "Jessica Gao is a writer and art director, known for Silicon Valley (2014), Rick & Morty (2013) and Lab Rats (2012). If you need credits for Harmon, perhaps you're listening to the wrong genre of soundcasts. OUr featured cli've clipped episode 4 titled "They invented those finger traps" from November 2nd, 2017 because it is the first episode  that was recorded after people had had the chance to listen and respond to the first three episodes. DOUGHBOYS "The podcast about chain restaurants," as the Doughboys listing on iTunes tells us, continuing: "Comedians Mike Mitchell and Nick Wiger review fast food/sit-down chains and generally argue about food/everything. Nick is a writer and actor, known for NTSF:SD:SUV, Matthew Perry's Testimony (Pt.2), and A Christmas Story: Only I Didn't Say Fudge. Mike is an actor and writer, known for The Birthday Boys, Love, and Michael Bolton's Big, Sexy Valentine's Day Special." Guest Bobby Lee  is credited with appearing on 162 episodes of the long-running sketch comedy show MAD TV. I deviate slightly from the norm in terms of presentation for this bit of 'soundcastery", as you'll hear it serves the content of this show better. WIFE OF THE PARTYIf you listen to comedian Bert Kreischer's soundcast Bertcast on the All Things Comedy network, you might have heard his wife LeeAnn Kreischer appear as a guest in some of the episodes. On January 31st, LeeAnn's very own soundcast dropped on iTunes and the description of Wife of the Party reads as follows: "Wife of comedian Bert Kreischer talks to friends in the mancave about, marriage, family, and what its like to be married to the life of the party." I would also like to point out the delightful "live reads" LeeAnn and Bert do for Bertcast's various sponsors.  As a fan of advertising I'm quite partial to their Blue Apron reads. (Executive Producer note: Attention, @BlueApron: We have advertising slots available on Succotash!) THE MOVIE COURT Movies finally get their day in court. Here's the online description of this unique soundcast: "Overrated classics. Unsung masterpieces. One Prosecutor. One Defense Attorney. And one judge. The Podcast that puts the movies you love or hate on trial, to decide their fate. Once and for all." That's a great description...the soundcast is as though each film was on trial to be sentenced to "movie jail" with amusing results. The Prosecutor is Stephen Krueger, the Defense is Kyle Bornheimer and Ryan (JUST Ryan) is the Judge. The clip Ive selected for you is from the 12th episode posted November 20th, 2015. (They haven't dropped an episode since January 1st of 2016 ... but I'm reluctant to send this show to the Soundcast Graveyard just yet...) EPILOG Before I leave you I'd like to give aknowledgement to a couple of soundcasters: First, a shout out to host Steve Owens of Fascination Street - a soundcast I featured in the episode of Succotash before this one.  Mr. Owens has been very vocal on Twitter about having been featured on Succotash and I appreciate it a great deal. (Cheers, Sir, and thank you for passing the Succotash!) Iraj Lopez of High Content Podcast has also given Succotash a shout out on his 29th and a 1/2 episode of his soundcast. I play it toward the end of this episode. High Content is one of several soundcasts that I listen to regularly.  This is in addition to what might be several episodes of YOUR soundcast when  I'm combing the internet looking for digital bits of corn, bacon or lima beans to incorporate into this succotash that is Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. If I hadn't been a consistent listener of High Content there's really no telling how long it may have been until I heard the kind words Mr. Lopez had for us. So if you do give or have given the show a mention in your soundcast, don't be shy. Contact me, Tyson Saner, on Twitter @RevT23, Executive Producer Marc Hershon on Twitter at @hershco and the show at @SuccotashShow. That way I'll be able to properly express my gratitude in as timely a fashion as I can. And that's another in the can... or the pan as it were.  If you haven't been entertained I do hope the lingering scent of bacon is some small comfort.  My thanks to you for listening. I'm grateful each and ever time you decide to spend time with us here. So I'll bid you farewell for now and gently remind you to please pass the Succotash... — Tyson Saner

Yes, it is I...Tyson Saner. Very grateful that you are joining me, brand new host of this program and pale imitation of former host Marc Hershon. It is a great honor to be entrusted with the keys to the Succotash SoundCast Soundkingdom and I look forward to carrying on the tradition that has been listening to and sampling Comedy (and otherwise) Soundcasts for your own personal variety show, between your ears, in the theater of your mind... Today I have for you what can best be described as an average amount of soundcast clips.  Six seems to be the magic number but it's certainly not set in stone as long-time listeners of this program can attest to. Soundcasts to look forward to hearing clips from include Fascination Street, Logical Nonsense, Your Mom's House, The Stanley and Branley Show, The Los Angeles Breakfast Club: On The Air, and the High Content Podcast. We also have a double dose of comedian and raging moderate Will Durst's famed "Burst O' Durst" segments. I am grateful that Mr. Durst has agreed to continue supplying us with his unique take on the politics of our times. You'll be hearing those later in the program. And if you're in or near the San Fransisco Bay Area you will find, on the aformentioned website, dates, locations, and tickets for Durst's latest one-man show: Durst Case Scenario: Mid Term Madness. And, as always, Succotash is sponsored by Henderson's Pants. As the associate producer of this show, when I was finding clips for this program and sending them off to Mr. Hershon I NOW realize that a few of my contributions over the years may have stretched the definition of "Comedy" a bit.  Sometimes my decision to submit a clip was made by it being interesting or different or having a particular quality about them that I felt made them worthy of inclusion on Succotash.  (I always had backup ideas for clips to submit in case my submissions couldn't be used for whatever reason but to Mr. Hershon's great credit, my submissions were rarely, if ever, unused.) Now I am completely aware that something "having a particular quality about them" is nebulous at best and nothing if not 100% a subjective viewpoint. Whether or not something is "interesting" or "different" is also, pretty much 100% subjective.  This, of course applies to comedy. Maybe not 100% with comedy but very probably. Anyway, just something to bear in mind as we explore the highways and byways of Soundcastland together. THE CLIPS Fascination StreetIt debuted on iTunes on July 3rd, 2017 and it is Hosted By Steve Owens of San Antonio, Texas. Last year, in 2017, Mr. Owens had the good fortune to spend a great deal of time with actor and Hollywood Legend, Clint Howard. There is a two-part episode of Fascination Street that is with Mr. Howard. The clip you are about to hear is from an interview that Mr. Owens had with Clint's father, another Hollywood legend, the Late Patriarch of the Howard family of actors and entertainers, Rance Howard.  According to Mr. Owens, this is the last interview Mr. Rance Howard ever gave. Logical NonsenseHere's a soundcast from Ontario, Canada whose 1st episode is listed on iTunes as having been posted in October of 2017.  The description of the show on Soundcloud and iTunes is: "Jab & Breezy take an explicit & comedic look into popular pop culture topics that make no sense to them. Every Tuesday without shame they will share their experiences and opinions while dissecting the nonsense and sharing new mind blowing facts and history that will leave you cry laughing. Follow us to join in our weekly challenges, where J & B compete against each other in a unique contest of wits or might." Your Mom's HouseHosts Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitsky podcast is part of the "All Things Comedy" network which, according to Wikipedia, "is a digital media co-operative and content creation studio and home to a community of professional comedians. It is the brainchild of comedians Al Madrigal and Bill Burr, founded in October 2012." I previously grabbed a clip of their episode "403" back for Succotash Epi 156 "Boozin' With Bill is Back" from July 29th, 2017 Sometimes they have guest for their program - which is often streamed LIVE on YouTube - this Clip is from episode 435 in which they do not have a guest… The Stanley and Branley ShowSometimes a soundcast will have very little biographical information attatched to their pages. The Stanley and Branley Show is one of those soundcasts. The description for the show on both their Soundcloud and iTunes page reads as follows: "Welcome to the worst call-in show you never heard." So far they have 60 episodes with several mini or bonus episodes and they've been posting on iTunes since May of 2016.  This clip is from episode 60, published February 13th 2018, and in it Stanley and Branley listen to dating advice from a YouTube video. If you want to hear more of these mysterious Soundcasters you can go to the aformentioned Soundcloud or iTunes. The Los Angeles Breakfast Club: On The AirIf you pay a visit to the Los Angeles Breakfast Club homesite, you will see the cheerful sentiment "Making Los Angeles a better place since 1925".  In case you have never heard of the Los Angeles Breakfast Club - or the LABC for short - you can also read the description of the club there OR listen to this epi of Succotash, during which I will read it to you. On February 28th, 2017 the Los Angeles Breakfast Club : On The Air soundcast debuted.  As described by host Phil Leirness in this same episode, "for many decades, The Los Angeles Breakfast Club was a fixture on the Radio" and on the soundcast Mr. Leirness called it a "return of sorts to the days of yesteryear..." The show features interviews, newsreel clips, a selection of musical interludes from throughout the near-century the LABC has been operating and various speakers who share their experiences and generally have a good time. Succotash's very own former-host-turned-executive producer, Marc Hershon, began announcing duties for this program in its 6th episode, published July 1st, 2017. High Content Podcast I became aware of this show as I was looking for soundcast-related gigs on Craigslist.  I happened across an ad from someone looking to start a soundcast who was seeking a co-host.  That someone was High Content Podcast's host, Iraj Lopez, who dropped his first episode on Soundcloud back in June of 2017.  Since then he has released episodes consistently, occasionally with co-host Joe Buratti, guests such as Ariel Robinson and comedians local to Humboldt County where this soundcast is based, including Joshua Barnes, Jessica Grant, and Matt Redbeard.  Also featured in the episode with Matt Redbeard was Chris Durant, the co-creator of Savage Henry Magazine - a well-known humor publication in Humboldt County that sponsors many comedy events throughout the year including a comedy festival every Labor Day weekend that had its sixth iteration in September of 2017. The show's topics range from pop culture, politics, science, nature and what is both frightening and exiting about humanity.  When there isn't a co-host or guest the show features host Iraj Lopez brainstorming ways to improve the world and various "what-if" scenarios. Our clip is from Episode 27, entitled "I want to boil a gallon of cum," posted on Feb 18th, 2018. Well, that about does it.  It's been a sort-of-but-not-really maiden voyage.   I'd like to thank Kenny Durgess, Will Durst, Joe Paulino, Scott Carvey, Bill Heywatt, Henderson's Pants and of course our Executive Producer Marc Hershon for their support and contributions to this episode and EVERY episode of Succotash that came before I had even heard of the program back when Mr. Hershon started posting episodes in March of 2011. I hope you will continue this journey of discovery with me and I look forward to continuing to bring you this "Whitman's Sampler" of soundcasts from all around the world where they record in English. For everyone here I bid you farewell and gently remind you to please, Pass the Succotash... — Tyson Saner
