In the healthcare/nutrition/science “After the Elephant” discussion of “Identifying the Elephant in the Room: Critical Communications Strategies in the Face of Sexism','' host of Late Night Health Radio, Mark Alyn, moderated the conversation with guests: Elan Sudberg, CEO, Alkemist Labs, Salma Fathalla, senior director of quality and regulatory, Bonafide Health and Gabriel Paulino, chief product officer & co-founder, renegade.bio, to respond and discuss session two of the sexism seminar series and challenge other leaders in the industry to do some deep work to make meaningful and fundamental changes when it comes to sexism within the natural products industry. The discussion included some key takeaways and memorable moments including:Sudberg's surprise that the panelists shared so many personal accounts of sexual harassment and sexist comments that they deal with on a daily basis, and said that it seemed like an hour wasn't long enough to talk about it; that they could have gone on for several more hours discussing their own personal stories, “I'm aware that these things happen, but not to this extent, and if we don't talk about it, we would never know.”Paulino said one of his biggest takeaways from the session was the concept of the “queen bee” or internalized misogyny, and that he didn't realize that women hate on women too, giving women just another obstacle to deal with, “Women live in fear pretty much every day and it's like how can you even function when you live in fear?”Fathalla said she was not surprised by the multiple stories of sexual harassment and sexist comments, that she herself has dealt with during much of her career, and made the point, “It's about time that we have this conversation and not just in a group of women, but also involving male figures and people from all levels of leadership.”To wrap up the discussion, there were many ideas on ways the industry could take action and each individual could become more aware of personal actions. Sudberg said, “I'm a hugger…. but (based on the panel) I'm rethinking my personal policy of hugging, because what if someone is not comfortable saying no to a hug and suddenly now we're embracing and that's an uncomfortable situation for them and in the future for me? I've already learned something really good.” Session Two Action Items:Identify and call out "queen bee" behavior.Men: create an initial expectation from the very first interaction. Soledad is a queer Mexican-American former math teacher turned personal finance educator and financial coach studying to become a Certified Financial Planner. In November of 2016, Lee left his home in Lawrence, Massachusetts one evening with an acquaintance, only to never return. Just over two weeks later, his handless body and hacked-off head were found in the Merrimack River, not far from his home. Quickly, it was discovered that 15-year-old Mathew Borges had committed the insanely brutal and evil act, simply due to jealousy. About Neivis Paulino and Galilee Life: Self-driven and inspirational Christian entrepreneur with experience in building a company from a simple idea to a fully functional business. Galilee Life is a Christian online marketplace that caters to small businesses in search for more than a platform to create, buy, and sell goods. It is for small businesses in search of one on one connection and encouragement. Our mission is to restore the hopes and dreams of small online businesses. Passion fuels everything that we do at Galilee Life. We're inspired by our community, the love and support from our small businesses and customers, the carefree calm that is felt while browsing for something beautiful; the eager anticipation after checkout; the joy of opening a package just for you; the confidence of putting on a new outfit that makes you feel incredible. Galilee Life is about making life more beautiful so that you can shine inside and out. Galilee Life is a leadership encouragement company established in early 2018, that provides users with a platform to reach their potential. We connect buyers and sellers around the world, empowering and equipping them to be confident in their business growth when God is involved. We create an environment where vendors and customers alike experience the love of God everyday. Our business motto is unique and one of a kind because God is incomparable to anything else in this world. We are certain that our vendors will thrive as long as they commit and give it their all. God is already doing all of the heavy lifting for us, we just need to learn to follow His guidance and leadership more than we do our own. Within our marketplace, our vendors have sold hundreds of products and made from hundreds to thousands in revenue. All glory to God. Our website has had close to 300 thousand visitors. Our team creates devotionals that touch lives and we have been able to send over 300 handwritten prayer cards and encouraging gifts via mail and more than 500 prayer requests via email answered from all over the world. Galilee Life was created because of the great need of connection in the business world. God showed us that there is a vast disconnection and that more and more people are choosing to keep God out of the equation with excuses like business and God do not mix. That is a lie from the enemy and we are breaking generational curses that are leaning towards making God more and more invisible. How can we conduct business without first consulting God? How can we make an executive decision without first coming to God and praying about it? How can we be sure that things will turn out well and that we won't quit when adversities make their way into our lives? Only with Jesus can we rest assured. Our goal is for millions of people around the world to connect on Galilee Life, both online and offline, to make, sell and buy unique goods, but most importantly to find Jesus in everything that they do. We also offer a wide range of vendor services and tools that help creative entrepreneurs/shop owners start, manage and scale their businesses. Our mission is to restore the hopes and dreams of small online businesses. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for God and the trust that he has bestowed upon us. Our mission takes us to deeper levels of understanding the human heart. We help build dreams that lead to financial sustainability while providing encouragement and love with the very source constantly being provided to us through God's love. Our commitment to God is what gives us the strength to continuously strive for personal relationships, creating a holistic community with the heart as the main focus and cultivating business relationships that last.

Scholarship is frequently imagined as a solitary pursuit, done mostly in archives or with books. This CHI Salon will feature scholars pursuing alternatives to this model and who regularly publish scholarship that emerges out of community activism, who co-write or co-edit books, and who actively seek out and create new models of authorship and research. Amherst Presidential Scholar Karma Chávez (UT-Austin) and Amherst College Press authors Megan Jeanette Myers (Iowa State) and Edward Paulino (John Jay) discuss their past publication experiences and the opportunities and challenges of collaborative scholarship. This panel is in honor of Open Access Week 2022 (Oct. 24-30). Participants: Karma Chávez is Bobby and Sherri Patton Professor in the Department of Mexican American & Latina/o Studies at the University of Texas-Austin. The author of The Borders of AIDS: Race, Quarantine, and Resistance (Washington, 2021), Queer Migration Politics: Activist Rhetoric and Coalitional Possibilities (Illinois, 2013), and the book of interviews Palestine on the Air (Illinois, 2019), Chavez has also co-edited four volumes: Queer and Trans Migrations: Dynamics of Illegalization, Detention, and Deportation (with Eithne Luibhéid, U of Illinois Press), Keywords for Gender and Sexuality Studies (with the Feminist Editorial Collective: other members are: Kyla Wazana Tompkins, Aren Z. No es la primera vez que discutimos en este podcast sobre inteligencia artificial y sus usos, pero esta vez quisimos iniciar por el principio (evidentemente) y decidimos hacer un episodio donde hablamos sobre cómo se crea esta “inteligencia”, además conversamos sobre cómo las grandes empresas apuestan a esta tecnología para la solución de grandes problemáticas.

During the 2020 Lozano Long Conference, “Black Women's Intellectual Contributions to the Americas: Perspectives from the Global South” February 20-21,2020, was a transnational and multilingual conversation amongst women who are often excluded from contemporary debates. The range of scholars, artists, and intellectuals engaged in discourse of Blackness that are often removed from Latin American and Black studies. Faculty organizer Lorraine Leu (LLILAS/Spanish and Portuguese) recorded an interview with Afro-Brazilian keynote speaker Rosana Paulino. Rosana Paulino is a visual artist, researcher and educator. She has a doctorate in visual arts from the University of São Paulo. Her work explores themes related to Black womanhood, identity, and the legacy of enslavement. The embodied archive that exists in art is a language of resistance that Paulino uses as a Black woman in contemporary Brazil. Black Brazilians are continuously remaking themselves in order to survive. Paulino art centers Black people as the protagonist of their own narratives, this work is more than intellectual it is personal.

In this discussion, Dean facilitates a discussion of what all levels of law enforcement can learn to help make our schools as safe as the airways. While the Uvalde report is referenced, all guests focus on a proactive path forward from what can be learned so that this type of incident never happens again. His special guest is Chief Joseph Paulino, a long-tine friend of Dean's and career-long leader in safety programs and initiatives in schools, hospitals, and other public spaces. They are joined by Kelle Corvin, LHLN Director of Operations/Business Development who also served as a school parent volunteer, PTA president in the 49th largest school district in the country and the largest in South Carolina, Greenville Schools. It's a wide-ranging discussion of what school districts can and should be doing and how local law enforcement can support them as well as what parents should know to ask regarding school safety. Paulino Mamiir Chol He was kidnapped as a child: separated from his family and taken to Northern Sudan by gunpoint. He marched barefoot across three African countries on a quest for freedom. He rose up and became a leader to the frightened and hungry band of boys who the world would come to know as The Sudanese Lost Boys. Paulino Chol tells the true story of his journey in his book, Leading The Lost Boys: The Untold Journey. He retells how, at the age of seven, he was kidnapped by the Sudanese militias called Murahalin and separated from his family. He tells of his escape from the militia with the help of a fellow captive and return to his mother and sisters. The homecoming was short-lived, as his village was invaded again, and he barely escaped as he fled with his uncle, barefoot into the desert and running for his life. Paulino was forced, along with 30,000 other Lost Boys, to survive in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. There, he refused to remain a victim and instead became a leader. Chol fights to this day for the people in Southern Sudan. Discover this true story of fortitude and survival: of strength in the face of unimaginable human rights abuses and a new mission in life in the United States. Paulino Chol is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in management and homeland security at Colorado Technical University. Mr. Chol has a master's degree in law and policy from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Mr. Chol has a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado. Lastly, Mr. Chol has an associate of applied science degree in homeland security and emergency management. https://machfoundation.org/The Douglas Coleman Show now offers audio and video promotional packages for music artists as well as video promotional packages for authors.
